Round 1 of ECA, sports seat allocation at DU this week

New Delhi: Delhi University will begin the first round of seat allocation for undergraduate courses under the extracurricular activities (ECA), sports, and ward quotas on Friday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This marks the start of admissions in these special categories after weeks of trials and evaluations. Students who are allotted seats in this round must confirm their admission by Aug 17. Colleges will then have until Aug 18 to verify documents and approve applications. Once the admission is approved, candidates can pay their fees by 5 pm on Aug 19. Students will also have the choice to freeze their allotted seat or opt for an upgrade in subsequent rounds. This year, competition remains fierce with over 9,000 registrations contending for just 1,374 ECA seats. The selection is based on a merit list that combines trial performance, certificates, and CUET scores. Now, there's a lot more than Kannada films, say Kushee Ravi

Four months after its release, Aiyana Mane continues to earn Kushee Ravi 's glowing praise for her portrayal of Jaaji. The success of the Kannada web series led many to assume she must be flooded with offers in her home industry. 'Sadly, that's not the scenario,' says Kushee, who is now set to make her Tamil debut opposite actor-director Selvaraghavan. 'I'm thrilled about this huge opportunity to showcase my talent in another language, but I can't deny feeling sad that filmmakers in my industry haven't offered me anything substantial. Everyone said I did brilliantly but it didn't translate into meaningful work here in Kannada cinema. Now I'm getting offers from Telugu, too. Mere appreciation is not enough; I need to see work coming my way. If not, I'll go where opportunities knock — because as an artiste, I need to act. I can't just sit and wait for work to happen. Why would I go elsewhere if there was enough work to keep me busy in my language?' she asks. 'As a female lead, I'm happy with the payment I've got for my Tamil film. I know there's been a lot of debate about pay parity between male and female actors. But cinema, while an art form, is also a business. You're paid based on the openings and revenue you can generate. Once that's clear in your mind, you won't waste time wondering why heroines aren't paid on par with heroes. I'm happy with the pay I've received so far because I know why I take on a project—some films are for money, others for creative satisfaction. Any other argument is just a waste of my time,' states the actor. It's strange that in Kannada cinema, an artiste often seems to be celebrated more when they work in another language. But when they're exclusively doing Kannada projects, the attention is rarely the same Kushee Ravi
