'Abbott Elementary' Quinta Brunson's Estranged Husband Yet To Respond To Divorce Filing
Quinta Brunson is making moves in court even if her estranged husband is not.
The actress is pushing forward with her divorce from Kevin Anik, who has yet to file an official response to her petition. The latest move comes as Brunson enjoyed glowing recognition in her hometown of Philadelphia, where she was honored with a mural and the key to the city.
Quinta Brunson and Kevin Anik, who kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, reportedly got engaged in 2020 and married the following year.
The star filed to end her marriage back in March after more than three years together, citing "irreconcilable differences" in the paperwork. Brunson also asked the court to enforce a postnuptial agreement that outlines how their assets should be divided.
But as of now, Anik has not filed a formal response or made any public comment on the split. Brunson, represented by top-tier divorce firm Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles, which includes celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser, told the court she has already submitted all required financial disclosures.
Those included her income, expenses, assets, debts, and a breakdown of what she considers shared versus separate property, In Touch confirmed.
Before her divorce filing made headlines, Brunson had kept most of her relationship with Anik out of the public eye. The 35-year-old confirmed she was engaged to Anik in July 2020 with a quiet Instagram post featuring a diamond ring and the caption, "More good news."
The Blast reported that their postnuptial agreement covered how the property would be split, and with no children involved, child support was not part of the case.
Despite being married to one of TV's most visible stars, Anik stayed almost entirely off the radar. He had no public social media presence and rarely appeared in Brunson's posts. Still, he did show up to support her during major career milestones.
In 2022, the couple attended the Time 100 Gala together after Brunson was honored as one of the most influential people of the year. They made another public appearance in 2023 at Dwyane Wade's FWRD party, celebrating his Hall of Fame induction.
Apart from showing up with her and red carpets, Brunson also openly expressed love and gratitude for her now-estranged husband during some of the biggest moments of her career.
As she turned her into one of television's breakout stars, she took time during multiple award show speeches to recognize Anik's support.
Brunson first publicly honored him in 2022 while accepting the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, calling him "the most supportive man I've ever known."
In 2023, she thanked him again at the Golden Globes while accepting her award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series. The praise continued into 2024 when she received her second Emmy, this time for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, and shared more appreciation for Anik's encouragement.
Although their relationship mainly had stayed out of the spotlight, Brunson's heartfelt tributes revealed the significant role he played in her life before their marriage quietly came to an end.
While her personal life underwent a change coupled with an ongoing divorce, Brunson was honored for her professional success in a significant way back home.
AP News reported that last month, the writer received the key to the city of Philadelphia during a ceremony at her old school, Andrew Hamilton, which inspired the setting of her hit ABC series.
Brunson accepted the honor from Mayor Cherelle Parker with humor, saying, "Wow! I want to ask the question on everybody's mind: What does it open?"
During the event, she celebrated the role public schools played in shaping her story and spotlighted the importance of arts and music in education. Her family and former teachers, including Joyce Abbott, who inspired the show's title, were all there to witness the moment.
Brunson reflected on how murals she saw growing up encouraged her and said she hopes the mural will inspire the next generation the same way.
Even with all that is going on in her personal life, "Abbott Elementary" has kept its momentum going strong and is now officially on its way back.
ABC renewed the hit comedy for a fifth season back in January 2025, surprising fans with a heartwarming video on Instagram featuring the show's beloved student cast members.
"Season 5, here we come! Join your favorite staff and students for more #AbbottElementary on ABC and stream on Hulu," read the post's caption, followed by an enthusiastic nod from Brunson herself."
All of the main cast, including Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Janelle James, and William Stanford Davis, are set to return alongside Brunson, promising more laughs, lessons, and chaos at the fictional Philadelphia school.
Despite the silence from Kevin Anik's side, Quinta Brunson appears focused on moving the process forward on her terms.

Jonathan Bailey says Wicked sequel is ‘darker' and will ‘go there politically'
Actor Jonathan Bailey has said the Wicked sequel is 'darker' and is 'going to go there politically as well'. The Bridgerton star, 37, plays Prince Fiyero in the films, also starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, which are adapted from the musical of the same name. 'Being slightly off the M1 in Munchkinland, with Ari singing a beautiful mezzo soprano, and then seeing cars pulling up on the hard shoulder trying to record it, and then seeing men in the sky, (which) turned out to be microlights and drones, it was like Independence Day,' he told British GQ. View this post on Instagram A post shared by British GQ (@britishgq) He added: 'I remember having four hours to learn how to do a dance move. I did it with Ari, headbutted her, and was like, 'Gotta go!'. 'I think she might have even headbutted me, but it was a meeting of minds, literally.' Wicked's next instalment will arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from November 21 and will cover the years after Elphaba, played by Erivo, parted ways with her friend Glinda (Grande). Wicked: For Good will also show Elphaba being demonised by those in Oz, and transformed into The Wicked Witch Of The West. The films have been adapted from the musical, which was based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel – which was in turn inspired by the story first told in L Frank Baum's 1900 children's novel, later adapted into the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale. Bailey said: 'It's darker, and I've got a sense it's going to go there politically as well. 'Fiyero's arc really kicks off and he literally is transformed by the end.' Other stars of Wicked include Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and US actor Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. View this post on Instagram A post shared by British GQ (@britishgq) Both Bailey and Goldblum are part of the Jurassic Park franchise. Goldblum played Dr Ian Malcolm in the original 1993 adventure/sci-fi while Bailey stars as Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World: Rebirth, which is yet to be released. 'We'll see how it goes, but there might be a few films down the line where me and him can appear in Jurassic together,' Bailey said. He added: 'Dr Ian Malcolm and Dr Henry Loomis on a night out.' Bailey stars on the cover of the summer Heroes issue of British GQ and will be speaking at the GQ Heroes conference, taking place at Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire from July 2 to 4. The Heroes Issue of British GQ is available via digital download and on newsstands on June 10.

Meghan Markle's 'Baby Mama Dance' Video Sparks Debate
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Meghan Markle doing the "baby mama dance" to try to trigger labor while heavily pregnant with Princess Lilibet sparked both praise and criticism on social media. The Duchess of Sussex marked her daughter's fourth birthday by posting a never-before-seen video of herself dancing in a hospital room to "Baby Mama" by Starrkeisha. The clip quickly went viral and was praised by some, while the Daily Mail, for instance, referred to her as the "Queen of Cringe" in a headline on its homepage. Meghan Markle's Delivery Room Twerking Video Meghan Markle posted the footage on Instagram with the message: "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work - there was only one thing left to do!" Her Instagram reel was viewed around 21.6 million times in almost 24 hours after it was posted. Meghan Markle twerks while heavily pregnant with Princess Lilibet in a hospital room in 2021 alongside Prince Harry, who also dances. Meghan Markle twerks while heavily pregnant with Princess Lilibet in a hospital room in 2021 alongside Prince Harry, who also dances. Duchess of Sussex/Instagram Harry also wrote about the moment in his book Spare: "We drove calmly, sanely to the hospital, where our bodyguards once again fed us. "This time they brought burgers and fries from In-N-Out. And fajitas from a local Mexican restaurant for Meg. We ate and ate and then did the Baby Mama dance around the hospital room. "Nothing but joy and love in that room. Still, after many hours Meg asked the doctor: 'When?' 'Soon. We're close.'" What Supporters Say Christopher Bouzy, founder of social media analysis company Bot Sentinel, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Meghan dropped this video, and the haters and conspiracy theorists are spiraling like they just found out their tinfoil hats don't get Wi-Fi. Y'all crashing out over a pregnant woman dancing is why y'all are not serious people." Derek Guy, a prominent menswear journalist, on X: "Every whiny criticism of Meghan Markle has sounded totally idiotic. don't like something, stop watching. good lord." Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, on X: "I totally relate with Meghan here! By 40 weeks of pregnancy I was a menace & wanted the babies out! I did everything possible to 'encourage' them out and I mean EVERYTHING! If I told you all the antics I got up to it would make you blush." What Detractors Say Piers Morgan wrote on X: "We're about 2 months away from the sex tape..." Columnist Amanda Platell wrote in the Daily Mail: "Surely this is one of the most sacred and private times in a couple's relationship? What possibly made them think it a good idea to blaze it across social media? "And having set the pattern, how many more such moments do they have stocked away to release in the days and months to come, in a pathetic, desperate bid for attention? "Well, I'm sorry to break this to you but the video just made this couple who purport to be fiercely private a laughing stock across the world. Again." Journalist and broadcaster Camilla Tominey wrote in The Daily Telegraph: "When I was a week overdue with my second child (ironically named Harry), I did sort of go mad. Not Meghan-twerking-in-a-hospital-room crazy, but bonkers nonetheless." "It was undoubtedly the hardest seven days of all three pregnancies—including having to be induced with my third, another daughter," she continued. "So like many mothers, I watched Meghan and Harry's latest Instagram video with a mixture of genuine empathy and gobsmacked astonishment. "On one hand, I understand the sheer lunacy that can accompany being overdue. On the other, I'm not sure even in my wildest moments I would have chosen to 'twerk' my way through it. "I mean, I'm not sure twerking would even feature on the bingo card of 'things you do while in labour': gas and air? Check. Epidural? Check. Lash out at husband? Check. Perform a sexy slut drop, while lip-syncing, to the camera? Probably not, no." Author Oli London wrote on X: "Meghan Markle branded 'cringe' after sharing bizarre dance video throwback with Prince Harry while 9 months pregnant with Lillibet." Robert De Niro makes rare comment about transgender daughter Airyn
Robert De Niro showed continued support for his transgender daughter Airyn, 29, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday. Period,' the actor said. 8 Robert De Niro at the opening dinner of the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival on May 13, 2025. They wanted it very private; they have told me they wanted me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible.' 8 Airyn De Niro came out as a transgender woman in April 2025. voiceofairyn/Instagram De Niro's support for Airyn wasn't surprising considering his late father, painter Robert De Niro Sr., lived as an openly gay man after struggling with his sexuality, which reportedly caused the end of his marriage. 8 Robert De Niro at his master class during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
