Watch: Young Blue Jays fan gets rare double chance at home run catch

It was not your average double-play.
A young
Blue Jays fan
had an inning to remember at Thursday's game after getting the chance to catch not one, but two home runs.
The official MLB X account shared a clip of the successful catch on the second try after it was shown on the TV broadcast of the
Jays' home game win against the Oakland Athletics
.
It all started when third baseman Ernie Clement hit a homer off Oakland Athletics' pitcher Jacob Lopez to left centre field in the second inning. The ball headed straight for the young boy, even hitting his
glove before popping out and trickling down to the seats below.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

fans made sure he caught the second homer hit his way 😀

Disappointed, the young fan didn't have much time to think about it before history, almost, repeated itself.
First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped up to the plate, launching another home run to the same fan. This time, it landed cleanly into his mitt. Ecstatic and still shocked, the young boy turned to the woman next to him for a hug before fielding high-fives from surrounding fans.
The Jays shut out the Athletics 12-0, tying their record 28-28 and putting them third in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays. They will look to carry this momentum into tonight for the second game of their four game series against the Athletics.

TORONTO (AP) — George Springer hit two of Toronto's four home runs and the Blue Jays held on to beat the Athletics 8-7 on Saturday for their fourth straight win. Springer had a solo shot in the third inning off right-hander Gunnar Hoglund and added another in the fifth. Addison Barger hit a two-run homer in Toronto's four-run first inning and Bo Bichette added a solo shot in the second. Toronto closer Jeff Hoffman gave up a two-run homer to Brent Rooker in the ninth inning before nailing down his 13th save. With a runner in scoring position, second baseman Ernie Clement made a diving catch on a line drive hit by Shea Langeliers with the tying run on second to preserve the win. Nathan Lukes had two RBIs for Toronto and Clement chipped in with two hits and a run scored. Blue Jays center fielder Daulton Varsho left the game in the third inning due to left hamstring discomfort. Hoglund (1-3) gave up all eight runs and 10 hits with one strikeout and two walks in six innings. Tyler Soderstrom hit a three-run homer off Toronto opener Braydon Fisher in the first inning and rookie Denzel Clarke added a two-run shot for his first career home run in the second. The Blue Jays extended their home winning streak to six games and have won eight of their last 12 overall. Toronto has scored 31 runs over the first three games of the four-game series. The Athletics have lost five in a row, 16 of their last 17, and 10 straight road games. Easton Lucas (3-2) came on in relief of Fisher after Clarke's homer and threw 4 2/3 shutout innings to get the win. Key moment Clement doubled to left field leading off the sixth inning, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on Hoglund's wild pitch to push the Blue Jays' lead to 8-5. Key stat Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled in the first inning to extend his career-high on-base streak to 31 games. It's the longest active streak in the major leagues. Up next Blue Jays RHP Kevin Gausman (5-4, 3.68 ERA) will start against Athletics LHP JP Sears (4-5, 5.18) in the series finale on Sunday. ___ AP MLB:

What accomplishments are you most proud of and why? I am most proud of my athletic and academic achievements, such as my rapid ascent as a tennis player and my 4.33GPA. It feels good to be rewarded for my hard work and dedication in both. What were your most rewarding school or community activities? Tennis because I was able to make many new friends, be a leader, and push myself to step out of my comfort zone. Outside of school, I am a volunteer dance instructor at my dance studio and enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for dance with younger students. Leah Walasavage (SUBMITTED) What do you do in your spare time? I like to do many different activities like tennis, dance, and skiing. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family and traveling to new places. What are your plans after high school graduation? I admire my parents the most because they have always been there for all of my accomplishments and have always encouraged me to believe in myself. They have also supported my decisions about my future and what I think is best for me. In a sentence, what is your philosophy of life?
