Watch: Young Blue Jays fan gets rare double chance at home run catch
It was not your average double-play. A young Blue Jays fan had an inning to remember at Thursday's game after getting the chance to catch not one, but two home runs. The official MLB X account shared a clip of the successful catch on the second try after it was shown on the TV broadcast of the Jays' home game win against the Oakland Athletics . It all started when third baseman Ernie Clement hit a homer off Oakland Athletics' pitcher Jacob Lopez to left centre field in the second inning. The ball headed straight for the young boy, even hitting his glove before popping out and trickling down to the seats below. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! This young @BlueJays fans made sure he caught the second homer hit his way 😀 Disappointed, the young fan didn't have much time to think about it before history, almost, repeated itself. First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped up to the plate, launching another home run to the same fan. This time, it landed cleanly into his mitt. Ecstatic and still shocked, the young boy turned to the woman next to him for a hug before fielding high-fives from surrounding fans. The Jays shut out the Athletics 12-0, tying their record 28-28 and putting them third in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays. They will look to carry this momentum into tonight for the second game of their four game series against the Athletics.
