Filmmaking is to be embedded in the Scottish curriculum from nursery to high school in a bid to widen access to practical skills within the film industry. Screen Scotland is to implement the initiative, backed by the Scottish Government, which will see film and screen taught as an expressive art, rather than studying the theory or history of film. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Speaking at the launch of the Edinburgh International Film Festival on Thursday night, Screen Scotland executive director Isabel Davis highlighted initiatives such as the Sean Connery Youth Talent Lab - a 12-month talent development programme for 25 aspiring filmmakers - as part of a wider drive to expose more young people to the film industry. The curriculum, which has been in planning stages for three years, will include a Film and Screen Award developed in conjunction with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). She said: 'Collectively, we are providing more opportunities than ever for emerging Scottish talent to tell their story through film. And next month, we'll have a bit more to say about our work to embed filmmaking in the Scottish school curriculum to ensure that every child in Scotland can see their role within the world of filmmaking.' A launch of the scheme and its rollout is planned for September. A statement from Screen Scotland said: 'As part of their commitment to education, Screen Scotland aim to embed a film and screen curriculum across Scottish education from early years to senior phase, situated within the Expressive Arts curriculum. Film will be embedded in the Scottish curriculum. | Kat Gollock 'This is core to Screen Scotland's work to widen participation in film and screen production, cultivate a skilled screen workforce, and develop the screen professionals needed to carry forward Scotland's film culture.' A draft Film and Screen curriculum was developed, detailing content for each age and stage of school education, while in 2023, a draft 21-credit Film and Screen Award for the upper years of high school was developed by the SQA in collaboration with Screen Scotland. A pilot programme to test the planned curriculum was launched in February 2023 in five local authority areas, including Argyll and Bute, Edinburgh, Dundee, the Highlands and Shetland.

Ederson remains first-choice goalkeeper at Man City

Ederson is reportedly keen on a move to join Galatasaray but City are clear they do not want to sell the 31-year-old, who has one year left on his contract. City have themselves been strongly linked with Paris St Germain's unwanted goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, having already spent £27million to bring James Trafford back from Burnley. But asked who was in line to start in goal in Saturday's Premier League opener away to Wolves, Guardiola said it would be Ederson. 'Right now, Eddy (is number one),' he said. 'He's fit, yeah.' This summer has seen City bring in Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Trafford, as well as reserve goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli and youngster Sveree Nypan. But last season Guardiola had said he would 'quit' if he had too many players on the books and there is still plenty of work to be done moving players on. Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Scott Carson have left from the old guard, while Jack Grealish has gone on loan to Everton and January signing Vitor Reis has been loaned to sister club Girona. The new season starts here. 2025/26 🔜 — Premier League (@premierleague) June 18, 2025 'Pre-season is a dream,' Guardiola said. 'We have 40 players, it's not a problem. Pre-season is a paradise, 45 players is fine, everyone accepts it. 'From tomorrow, I have players who are not selected – it's not a problem because they are professionals, but it's not nice. 'You have to (have enough) that everybody competes to have the chance they can play on Saturday, that is when you get the best of them. 'When you have a lot of players, every week is (leave them) at home, it makes no sense. You have to find the right way.' James McAtee is expected to join Nottingham Forest and Tottenham have held talks over Savinho. PEP 💬 [Mateo] Kovacic is not ready, Josko [Gvardiol] is not ready… Savinho is injured. The others are [ready]. — Manchester City (@ManCity) August 15, 2025 Kalvin Phillips has no future at the club and goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is also expected to leave, given the competition for places. 'If they stay it's fine, but they know it,' Guardiola said 'The reality is that so they know it. 'If they stay, for me it's fine. It's not ideal but it's my job, I do it. But if they want to play regularly, maybe it's not going to happen.'

Julia wore a sophisticated, midnight blue suit with a crisp white neckline and black heels. Her hair was styled down in long, loose waves while her complexion was accentuated with a smoky coat of eye shadow and blush. Julia, who is known for her eccentric and bold outfits, rose to fame after briefly dating Kanye West. Julia reflected on the high-profile split, while making an on CBS Mornings with Vito Schnabel, her co-star on The Trainers. 'I was going through a lot during that time. I was coming off of, like, a very public breakup. It was horrible,' Fox lamented to Gayle King. 'And I just wanted to go to work and be able to just be somebody else. I loved being her. I feel like I have so much in common with her in terms of you know being, like, overlooked or not taken seriously or just dismissed. 'And I feel like that's why our characters kind of just, like, had this unique love story.' Meanwhile, audiences can next catch Julia as the seductive Elsie White in Justin Tipping's NFL satanic horror film HIM - hitting US theaters September 19 and UK cinemas October 3 - produced by Jordan Peele. The Down the Drain singer has also been hard at work producing and judging the second season of her design competition OMG Fashun, but Peacock postponed the May release 'due to unexpected delays' but it's 'still in active production.'
