Timothy Spall as John Chapel
Timothy Spall plays the former TV detective John Chapel in Death Valley.

Timothy Spall is a national treasure, and I know the term gets thrown around a lot lately, but honestly he has been in some of the most iconic TV programmes and movies. He will be playing John Chapel, a retired TV detective who moved to Wales and became a bit of a recluse.
In the past he has starred as the artist JMW Turner in the film Mr Turner, he played Peter Taylor in The Damned United alongside Welsh actor Michael Sheen, and he was Peter Pettigrew/ Wormtail in the Harry Potter franchise.

With over 164 credits, he's also starred in Wicked Little Letters, the Alice in Wonderland franchise, The King's Speech and Still Crazy.
Gwyneth Keyworth as Janie Mallowan
Gwyneth Keyworth plays Janie, a Welsh detective with an obsession for old TV detective shows

In Gwyneth's first leading role, she plays Janie Mallowan, a chaotic police detective who tries really hard to do a good job. She has a great sense of humour and a slight obsession with Timothy Spall's character.
Recently, she has starred in another BBC series set in Wales, Lost Boys & Fairies, where she played the character Becky. She has also starred in the Doctor Who spin offs, The Sarah Jane Adventures and the Torchwood podcast series.
She has also starred in Game of Thrones, Netflix's Black Mirror, The Crown and also Misfits.
Steffan Rhodri as DCI Clarke
Steffan Rhodri will be playing DCI Clarke

Now, I think we can all recognise Steffan from something. The Swansea born actor also starred in the Harry Potter franchise as Reg Cattermole.
He also has a long list of Welsh productions including The Pembrokeshire Murders, Submarine, Mr Burton, Keeping Faith, In My Skin and Men Up.
Am I forgetting something? Oh and of course, he played Dave Gooch aka Dave Coaches in Gavin & Stacey.
Alexandria Riley as Baxter
Alexandria Riley will be playing Baxter

Alexandria will be playing Baxter, a sarcastic pathologist who tells Janie like it is.
Much like Steffan, Alexandria has appeared in a variety of Welsh programmes/films including Lost Boys & Fairies, Men Up, The Tuckers, In My Skin, The Pembrokeshire Murders as well as many Welsh language productions.
Although, her work doesn't stop there as she has appeared in two different Netflix series, The End of the F***ing World and more recently the critically acclaimed Baby Reindeer.
Rithvik Andugula as DC Evan Chaudhry
Rithvik Andugula will be playing DC Evan Chaudhry

Rithvick plays DC Evan Chaudhry, who is an eager to please junior police officer.
He previously starred in the HULU series Extraordinary, which looks at a world where everybody has different types of superpowers.
More recently he starred in the film O'Dessa, which stars Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.
Melanie Walters as Yvonne, Janie's mother
Joining Dave Coaches in Death Valley is his new lover Gwen. Melanie Walters will be playing a new Welsh mother, and this time it isn't Stacey.
Melanie will be playing Janie's mother Yvonne, who has quite a big storyline in the second episode as the crime fighting duo join her walking group.
Much like the above, Melanie has been in an assortment of Welsh productions including Save the Cinema, Submarine, La Cha Cha, Stella, Under Milk Wood and the film High Tide.
Although, recently she has also known for her time on the TV series The Collection, The Bill, Doc Martin and Being Human.
Mike Bubbins as Tony
Mike Bubbins is known for his leading role in Mammoth, as Tony Mammoth. The series was also written by Paul Doolan, who is the writer of Death Valley.
He also starred alongside Sally Phillips in the series Tourist Trap, where he played Wyn for 12 episodes. The mockumentary-style sitcom follows a newly opened agency, tasked with selling tourism in Wales to the world. Bubbins also co-founded the successful podcast, The Socially Distant Sports Bar.
Remy Beasley as Rhiannon
The young Welsh actress, has recently appeared in the TV mini series Nightsleeper, Netflix's One Day, Steeltown Murders and The Walk-In alongside Stephen Graham.
She also played Gwen Davies in the National Theatre Live production of Nye alongside Michael Sheen who played the founder of the NHS Aneurin Bevan.
Guest actors across the series will include Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Sian Gibson, Patricia Hodge, Jim Howick, Karl Johnson, Colin McFarlane, Vicki Pepperdine, Steve Speirs and Amy Trigg.
The programme airs tonight, May 25 at 8.15pm on BBC One, however the whole boxset will be launching on BBC iPlayer at the same time.

Utterly heartbreaking story behind National Eisteddfod winner that everyone wishes was different But when Tudur Hallam did, he produced something award winning Tudur Hallam receives the Chair at the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham for his poem talking about his own cancer diagnosis (Image: Aled Llywelyn) When Tudur Hallam was told, in August last year, that he had cancer, he found himself unable to write in Welsh. The poet, who has previously won one of the highest honours in Welsh language writing, said his mental block lasted months. Yet, on Friday, he stood in a pavilion in Wrexham packed full of people, who had all risen to their feet, after he was honoured with the Eisteddfod chair for a second time, because of a piece of work he penned. He admitted he had felt conflicted whether to even enter the work because the content - about his diagnosis - was so emotional. As he received the honour at the Wrexham Eisteddfod, his brother, Gwion Hallam, also addressed the crowd with a heartfelt poem. Tudur, a married dad-of-three said: "I believe writing can be a great help to people, and personally I wanted to write immediately after the diagnosis, but I couldn't. "I think I was in a state of shock, and then in January, after receiving bad news that the treatment meant to buy me time hadn't worked, suddenly the words started to flow from me. "Now I'm glad I've created something positive out of a very difficult situation," he said. He previously received the honour at the Blaenau Gwent and Valleys National Eisteddfod in 2010. After the ceremony in Wrexham, he said: "It was a very emotional occasion, especially when the audience stood for the second time. But after greeting my family, I relaxed a little and enjoyed the ceremony. The Eisteddfod and the Gorsedd did everything they could to make things easier,' he said. The audience in the Pavilion heard that 15 poets competed this year – the highest number since 1989 and they had to write an awdl (a long poem) or a collection of poems in full cynghanedd using more than one traditional metre on the theme of "dinas" (city". "I feel happy, proud that I competed because I wasn't sure whether I should submit the awdl or not. I've been quite conflicted about it because the content of the awdl is so emotional, but today feels like a celebration," he said. 'Winning the chair or the crown is an achievement, and hearing that it was a strong competition makes me feel incredibly lucky to have won, to be honest,' he said. He decided to compete for the Eisteddfod chair and said that the support of his family and doctors enabled him to do so. The poet explained that he is a coach for a girls' football team in Carmarthenshire, and their aim is to win every match – especially against teams from the cities – so it was natural for him to begin his poem with the team. His work was praised by the judges as being "raw" (Image: Aled Llywelyn) In the poem, the team beats a team from Cardiff in the final of a cup competition, but then, the narrative switches to Glangwili Hospital, where the coach receives a diagnosis of bone cancer and metastatic cancer in the liver. In his adjucation, Peredur Lynch said: " He sang a song from the deepest depths of his being, composing an awdl he never wished to write.' Fellow judge Menna Elfyn said it was "unlike any other awdl or poem I've seen win the Chair or the Crown at the National Eisteddfod". She said he wrote about his condition in a "raw" way "without a trace of self-pity". Llyr Gwyn Lewis added: "'In truth, I would much rather Y Gylfinir had never had to write this awdl at all. He sang a song no one would ever wish to sing—but having sung it, he did so with clarity, memorability, and emotional power, drawing on all his gifts as a poet". EastEnders fans believe a spoiler for Monday's episode and a scene last week has revealed how vile teen Joel Marshall targets Stacey Slater, but it could lead to his own downfall Viewers of EastEnders believe a new teaser for the BBC soap has let slip what Joel Marshall does after targeting Stacey Slater. It was clear he had revenge in mind after she put him in his place last week over his vile views and comments about women. Stacey ended up slapping Joel across the face with her cousin Kat Moon barring him from the pub after his remarks aimed at her. But after months of vile behaviour, most of which targeted at women, the character turned on Stacey, not helped by Kat's son Tommy Moon. It comes after Stacey's stalking ordeal not so long ago, with her also posting adult content onto a webcam site. After her stalker Theo attacked her and she realised he was subscribing to her cam posts, she appeared to delete everything, or at least stopped using the site. That's all in the past, or at least it was until someone leaks photos and videos of her from her cam posts this coming week. Last week we saw Tommy tell Joel all about Stacey's ordeal off the back of her posting content. We later saw Joel finding Stacey's profile and pulling a smirk on his face, clearly plotting. Fans now believe they know what he's done, after a preview clip for Monday's episode teased something was about to hit Stacey just as she is feeling like everything is on track. She's shown telling Kathy Beale about how things are going, and how her daughter Lily Slater is returning to Walford that evening. Sharing her excitement, she gets distracted when she notices people looking at her. She's not wrong either, with multiple café customers staring at her and making quiet comments, while also pulling judgemental or awkward faces. Kathy hasn't even noticed and tells Stacey as such, but then we see Tommy and Joel staring at her too from across the market. Joel looks smug, and it's evident he's done something and it's likely linked to what the customers are talking about. Stacey remains unaware though and heads off, but soon she makes a troubling discovery. Stacey is told at some point that her SecretCam photos and videos have been leaked online. Stacey is mortified but immediately works out Joel is likely behind it given their showdown days before. She wastes no time in heading over to confront him, but Joel denies having anything to do with it. As Ross Marshall hurries his son home Joel continues to deny it, and Ross accepts this when he sees his laptop. But fans are convinced Joel is the one to blame given his recent actions and him finding the site last week. They believe this is his revenge against her after she put him in his place. One fan speculated: "Joel's done something from that online adults page she had." Another fan agreed: "He leaks Stacey's photos & videos from her Cam days online," as a third said: "I know he's shared her pics." Ray Brooks dead: Coronation Street and EastEnders actor who voiced Mr Benn dies
Ray Brooks has died at the age of 86, his family has confirmed. The actor, who is one of the few actors to appear in both Coronation Street and EastEnders, died on Saturday after a short illness, his family told the BBC. He was also the famous voice of Mr Benn, narrating the classic 1970s children's show. The actor's sons Will and Tom shared a touching statement to confirm his death. They said that while their father thought he was best known for his role on Mr Benn, people would be "continually asking him to say the catchphrase 'as if by magic!'". In the cartoon, a character named Mr Benn would find himself entering a new adventure each episode as he dressed up in a magical costume shop. In the statement to the BBC, his family added: "Although only 13 episodes were made, they were repeated twice a year for 21 years." In the soap world, Ray joined the Corrie cobbles in the 1960s, taking up the role as Norman Philips in the long-running ITV soap. Almost 40 years later, he switched allegiances, joining BBC's EastEnders as Joe Macer. His character will be best remembered for murdering his wife Pauline Fowler. but throughout his long career in showbiz, Ray also had a large resume to look back on. After being the male lead in the ground-breaking 1960s BBC drama Cathy Come Home, he later starred in 1980s hit Big Deal. He played the part of Robbie Box and the series before later appearing in Running Wild as the comic lead Max Wild.
