Hero is reportedly working on two new and more affordable versions of its Vida product range. Check Offers
Hero MotoCorp, Vida have released the first teaser for their upcoming electric scooter on their social media channels. Images of the new electric scooter were leaked online earlier. The launch of the new electric scooter is slated to happen on July 1.
The VX2 is expected to be positioned below the V2 in the portfolio. The scooter that was spotted earlier had a smaller TFT display and the switchgear is shared with the V2. However, there is a physical keyhole that hints towards, the VX2 being a more budget-oriented electric scooter.
The V2 is offered in three battery pack options, and the VX2, which was also spotted, also boasted a 'Plus' suffix, hinting towards multiple variants being on offer. The leaked image also revealed that the alloy wheels of the new electric scooter will be shared with the V2. The Vida V2 consists of three variants right now. There is V2 Lite, V2 Plus, and V2 Pro. Emphasis on Affordability
Hero MotoCorp is reportedly developing a new electric vehicle platform called ACPD, designed to bring down production costs. While the specifics of the upcoming models are still under wraps, this initiative aims to make electric scooters more competitively priced—potentially aligning them with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models.
Currently, Hero manufactures approximately 7,000 electric scooters monthly. With the introduction of the new models based on the ACPD platform, this figure is expected to more than double, reaching up to 15,000 units per month.

To support its growing EV ambitions, Hero continues to aggressively expand its Vida brand's retail footprint. The company now boasts 203 Vida outlets, which include 180 full-fledged dealerships spread across 116 cities. This expansion is aimed at enhancing customer accessibility and offering reliable after-sales service across more urban and semi-urban locations.

Hero's push into the EV space is already bearing fruit. In FY2025, the company sold 48,673 electric two-wheelers—a significant 175% increase compared to the 17,720 units sold in FY2024. This growth reflects rising consumer interest in the Vida range, which competes against major players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, Bajaj, TVS, and Ampere.
The current Vida V2 lineup is priced between ₹ 74,000 and ₹ 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). A recent price revision has positioned the entry-level model more competitively, undercutting several key rivals in the segment.

Delhi HC bars Urban Electric from using Hero's ‘DESTINY' mark

The Delhi High Court has granted an ex parte ad-interim injunction in favour of Hero MotoCorp , restraining Urban Electric Mobility and associated entities from using the marks 'DESTINY', 'DESTINY+' and 'DESTINY PRO' for their electric scooters. Justice Tejas Karia passed the order on August 13 in a suit filed by Hero MotoCorp alleging trademark infringement , passing off and unfair competition, Bar & Bench reported. Hero MotoCorp told the court it is the prior and registered proprietor of the marks 'DESTINY', 'DESTINI' and 'DESTINI PRIME' under Classes 12 and 37. The company alleged that defendants 1–4, operating as Urban ebikes, were manufacturing and selling scooters under the 'DESTINY' and 'DESTINY+' names, while defendants 5–6, trading as Galaxy EV, were selling and promoting scooters under 'DESTINY' and 'DESTINY PRO' through a commercial arrangement with the first set of defendants. The company further argued that the impugned marks are structurally, phonetically and visually identical to its registered marks, adopted with the intent to ride on Hero's goodwill and reputation. It also submitted that defendants 1–3 had been using the 'HERO' mark, perpetuating misrepresentation and causing potential consumer confusion. Judgement Justice Karia observed that Hero MotoCorp had made out a case for urgent relief. 'A prima facie case has been made out by the Plaintiff for grant of an ex-parte ad-interim injunction. Balance of convenience is in favour of the Plaintiff and against the Defendants. Irreparable injury would be caused to the Plaintiff if the Defendants are allowed to continue to use the Impugned Marks,' the court held. Accordingly, the defendants, their owners, directors, employees and associates have been restrained from manufacturing, selling, advertising, or promoting scooters under the disputed marks, either offline or online, or from using any mark deceptively similar to Hero's 'DESTINY', 'DESTINI' and 'DESTINI PRIME'. Hero was represented by Advocates Saikrishna Rajagopal, Sidharth Chopra, Kanishk Kumar, Deepika Pokharia, Priyansh Kohli and Abhinav Bhalla from Saikrishna & Associates. Ather teases voice command features for Halo helmet

Ather Energy is all set to unveil voice commands for its Halo helmets on August 30th, which is when they are celebrating Community Day. This would make Ather the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer to offer voice as a direct communication medium between the rider and the scooter. As of now, it is not clear whether the brand will be integrating Google Assistant just like they have done with the Google Maps or whether they have developed a new assistant. We will have to wait for the Community Day for the brand to get further information on this. This is the third Community Day that the brand will be celebrating, and it is now open to non-Ather owners as well. The theme for this year's Ather Community Day is 'Technology that works like magic. The company says it focuses on the philosophy of building technologies that feel effortless, invisible, and reliable in day-to-day use. Ather is set to present its new EL scooter platform, which will serve as the foundation for the company's forthcoming range of budget-friendly electric scooters. Alongside this, the brand will reveal concept models, next-generation fast-charging systems, and the upgraded Ather Stack 7.0 software—slated for rollout to both new and existing customers. The upcoming event will also feature enhanced interactive zones, giving attendees direct engagement with Ather's design, engineering, and software teams. Last year's Ather Community Day, held in April, saw the debut of the Ather Rizta—its first family-oriented scooter—along with the Halo helmet range and the introduction of Ather Stack 6.0 software. With the launch of the EL platform, the publicly listed company is targeting the entry-level e-scooter segment, going head-to-head with players like Vida, TVS, Bajaj, Ola Electric, and others. There's also curiosity around whether Ather will explore Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) or adopt removable battery technology in its future products. Ather 450S launched Ather Energy has rolled out a new variant of its 450S electric scooter, offering greater range without compromising on performance. Equipped with a 3.7 kWh battery pack, the refreshed 450S delivers an IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 161 km on a single charge. Priced at ₹1,45,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), it's designed for riders who want the sporty appeal of the 450 platform, paired with the reassurance of longer riding distances. The launch reinforces Ather's strategy to broaden the 450 lineup. While the 450X continues as the flagship with advanced software capabilities, the latest 450S fills the space between the entry-level 2.9 kWh model and the high-end 450X. It retains the same performance DNA but makes it available to a wider customer base at a more attainable price point. The battery remains neatly housed in the scooter's floorboard for optimal weight distribution and handling. Check out Upcoming EV Bikes in India. First Published Date:

141 companies see profits & sales decline in Q1. Is your portfolio at risk?

The June quarter earnings season, which investors desperately hoped would provide a positive trigger for market recovery, failed to provide support to share prices as recovery hopes have now shifted to the next quarter or second half of FY26. The Q1 result season saw at least 141 companies across sectors reported simultaneous declines in both sales and profit on a year-on-year basis. Asian Paints saw Q1 sales drop marginally by 0.2% to ₹8,924 crore while profits declined 6% to ₹1,081 crore. The paint sector's woes deepened with Indigo Paints and Akzo Nobel India both reporting double-digit profit declines. PSU behemoth Coal India reported a 21% profit decline to ₹8,590 crore on sales of ₹31,880 crore. Power major NTPC saw profits crash 32% and revenue fall 3%. Rail equipment manufacturer Titagarh Rail Systems reported a 40% profit decline to ₹43 crore on falling sales of ₹679 crore. Premium winery Sula Vineyards faced a brutal quarter with profits collapsing 87% to just ₹1.9 crore as sales declined 8% to ₹118 crore, reflecting the discretionary spending slowdown hitting luxury consumption. Some of the worst-hit include DAM Capital Advisors where profits crashed 99% from ₹22 crore to just ₹23 lakh. PSP Projects saw earnings wipe out by 99% to ₹43 lakh. Bajaj Electricals' profits collapsed 94% to just ₹1.6 crore while Praj Industries' bottomline fell 94% to ₹5.3 crore. What should investors do? Despite the widespread earnings disappointment, market veterans remain cautiously optimistic about the road ahead. "Earnings growth for FY25 is tracking in line with expectations at high single digits, and consensus estimates for the next two years point towards a recovery to low double-digit growth," said Shridatta Bhandwaldar, Head Equities, Canara Robeco Asset Management Company. "Midcaps continue to show the strongest earnings resilience, followed by large caps, while small caps remain a concern given stretched valuations and weaker earnings trends." Bhandwaldar expects consolidation to continue until earnings momentum strengthens. "In our portfolios, we remain constructive on large banks, insurance, industrials, telecom, pharma, aviation, and hospitals, while staying cautious on global commodities, tier-2/3 NBFCs, and FMCG until clear signs of recovery emerge," he added. Satish Mishra, Fund Manager, Tata Asset Management, acknowledged the weakness but found silver linings. "Q1FY26 earnings season has been weak but broadly in line with expectations. Large sectors like IT, financials, auto and consumer have shown weak earnings growth while few sectors like cement, healthcare have shown strong earnings growth," he said. Mishra remains optimistic about the second half. "We do believe that earnings growth in H2FY26 will be better than H1. The RBI's frontloaded 100-bps rate cut, ₹1 lakh crore in tax relief in budget and favourable monsoon are all expected to stimulate credit growth and consumption." Jimeet Modi, Founder & CEO, SAMCO Group, sees opportunity in the current turmoil. "Q4 FY25 earnings came in below expectations, with broad-based profit pressures across the segment. This reinforces the need for caution, even as valuations have moderated post the July correction," he said. "The recent dip has reset market expectations, creating a more favourable entry point for sound companies. With India's structural growth drivers intact and domestic liquidity remaining robust, smallcaps could see improved traction in H2 FY26."
