Which Cast Members Are Not Returning for ‘And Just Like That' Season 3? Who's Not Coming Back

Yahooa day ago

And Just Like That... returns for season 3 minus several key cast members who have been with the show since the first episode. Life & Style reveals which costars aren't coming back and the reasons behind their departures.
Sara Ramirez is not coming back to the show as nonbinary comedian and podcaster Che Diaz, even though they have been with the show since season 1. Similarly, another two-season regular, Karen Pittman, won't be back to reprise her role of law professor Nya Wallace.
The Grey's Anatomy alum and showrunner Michael Patrick King "felt that that character had run its course," AJLT star and Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon told Variety in May 2024.
Cynthia's Miranda Hobbes fell for Che in season 1, causing her to split from husband Steve Brady, played by David Eigenberg. Che and Miranda's romance blossomed throughout the season as Miranda explored her sexuality.
Season 2 saw Che suffer a major career downturn after their comedy pilot didn't get picked up. They went back to working in a veterinarian's office and the podcast they cohosted with Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw was cancelled after the studio was shut down.
Che's romance with Miranda also came to an end, after the intensity of being involved so deeply in each other's lives took a toll. That left Sara without much to do on the show, as their character's ties to both Carrie and Miranda were no longer there going into the third season.
'One of the things that it meant was that Miranda was single again, and that the tensions between Miranda and Che, and also Miranda and Steve, had been quelled and quieted," Cynthia told E! News on May 28, 2025, about her character finally being free of any partner heading into season 3 of AJLT.
"Just speaking for Miranda, it meant that she was setting out on this new dating world, having decided she wanted to date women and nonbinary people, but not really quite knowing how to go about that," the New York native added.
Karen's busy schedule didn't have room for her to return as Miranda's former law professor and close pal, as she was shooting Apple TV+'s The Morning Show season 4 and the Netflix's series Forever during AJLT's season 3 production.
'It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That. As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others," a spokesperson for HBO told multiple outlets on March 22, 2024.
They noted that 'it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn't possible.'
'Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That. Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors," the streaming service added.
The character of Nya had been left at somewhat of a dead end after season 2. Miranda had long left her brief return to college in the professor's classes to take a job as a human rights lawyer, so the pair only had social interactions.
Nya's marriage broke down after she and her husband were unable to come to a decision about children, and season 2 saw the character exploring dating life while somewhat adrift from the rest of the AJLT cast.
Kim Cattrall's cameo in the AJLT season 2 finale was a one and done. She thrilled Sex and the City fans by reprising Samantha Jones one last time in the episode that aired on August 24, 2023.
Samantha called Sarah Jessica's Carrie Bradshaw to let her know her flight from London was running late and she was going to miss the former sex columnist's goodbye dinner at her longtime New York City apartment. The characters had a brief but pleasant chat after having several text exchanges during season 1 of the SATC revival.
Kim shot her scene separately and was never face to face with SJP or other cast members.
The Glamorous star had gone on the record numerous times that she was done playing Samantha for good when SJP tried to get a third SATC movie off the ground in 2017. The How I Met Your Father star said she wasn't asked back by AJLT executive producer and star Sarah to take part in the reboot, which the Hocus Pocus star confirmed.

Gigi Hadid & Bradley Cooper's Date Night Includes Surprise Celeb Cameo

Originally appeared on E! Online Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper are happy in this modern world. Case in point: The supermodel and the A Star Is Born actor were in good spirits as they walked hand-in-hand to Il Mulino in New York City. While waiting outside the Italian restaurant, the couple—who have been dating since 2023—were seen sharing a laugh before hopping onto a FaceTime call with Bradley's longtime friend Will Arnett. For their date night, Gigi, 30, donned on a yellow dress and an oversized brown leather jacket. She accessorized her summery look with white socks and brown loafers. Meanwhile, Bradley, 50, kept it casual with a dark button-down top, matching pants and black boots. He completed his 'fit with sunglasses and a camouflage print baseball cap. But Will isn't the only the only famous figure who's friendly with the couple. After all, Gigi and Bradley have been on several outings with and boyfriend Travis Kelce, including to the singer's Eras Tour show in Paris last year. More from E! "I got to see Gigi and Bradley—BC, Big Coop—we were all in the suite having a blast." And this April, there was another star-studded hangout at Gigi's 30th birthday, with Anne Hathaway, Tan France, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Martha Hunt and the Guest in Residence founder's sister gathering alongside Bradley to celebrate the milestone. Still, Gigi—who shares 4-year-old daughter Khai with ex Zayn Malik—does prefer to keep her romance with Bradley as low-key as possible. As she explained in a March interview with Vogue, "You want to give yourself a normal experience of dating and even for my friends who aren't public figures, that's hard." "Then there's another added layer of privacy and security," continued Gigi, who met Bradley at a backyard birthday party for a mutual friend's kid. Harvey Weinstein Found Guilty of Sexual Assault After Tensions Explode on New York Jury

Harvey Weinstein has been convicted of one count of committing a criminal sexual act but acquitted on another in his sex crimes retrial in New York City. The majority-female jury on Wednesday found the former Hollywood producer guilty of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley, but acquitted him of a second charge of sexually assaulting Kaja Sokola. The jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on a third count involving Jessica Mann and was told to resume deliberations Thursday morning. Weinstein faced two counts of committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree and one count of third-degree rape. Prior to the mixed verdict, Weinstein himself addressed the court, urging the judge to declare a mistrial as several jurors reported ongoing tensions in the deliberation room. 'This is my life that's on the line,' Weinstein told Judge Curtis Farber, adding, 'I am not getting a fair trial.' Weinstein then told the judge, 'You are endangering me, Your Honor.' Earlier on Wednesday, the jury foreperson in Weinstein's retrial informed the judge that tensions remained during deliberations and requested a private meeting with the judge and attorneys to discuss the situation. In court, Farber conveyed the foreperson's account, stating that there was infighting among the jurors and that the foreperson was 'not going to change his position — whatever that position is.' 'He did indicate that at least one other juror made comments to the effect of 'I'll meet you outside one day,' and there's yelling and screaming,' the judge said. 'A crime was committed against this juror,' Weinstein's lawyer Arthur Aidala argued, describing the situation in the deliberation room as 'menacing and harassment.' Aidala added: 'Their verdict is all about coercion and threats.' Prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, however, argued that the foreperson didn't seem frightened or apprehensive — just 'stubborn.' 'He said he'd made up his mind, he didn't want to change it, and people were pressuring him to change it,' Colangelo said. 'That's what jury deliberations involve.' In his 2020 trial, Weinstein was found guilty of sexually abusing Haley and Mann. He was serving a 23-year sentence in New York until those convictions were overturned in April 2024. Weinstein pleaded not guilty to all charges in his retrial; both Haley and Mann testified against him again. In their testimonies, Haley alleged that Weinstein forcibly sexually assaulted her at his apartment in 2006, while Mann accused him of raping her at a hotel in 2013. Sokola, who did not testify in Weinstein's 2020 trial, was first identified by the prosecution during opening arguments in late April. (She was previously referred to as Complaining Witness No. 3.) In her testimony, Sokola described two alleged sexual assaults by Weinstein: one in 2002, when she was 16, and another in a Manhattan hotel in 2006 — the latter being the incident for which Weinstein was charged in the retrial. Weinstein is still serving a separate 16-year prison sentence following his 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles. Joe Locke warns that his twink death is imminent

Troye Sivan and Nicholas Galitzine are proof that people love watching a twink, but Joe Locke is hoping to break out of that role. In a conversation between the Agatha All Along actor and Daredevil star Charlie Cox for Variety's Actor on Actor series, Locke talked about loving the roles he's played so far but admitted he wants to play characters other than 'skinny gay twinks' in the future. 'When you first start working in this industry, you get cast very close to who you are,' Cox said of the normal career trajectory for actors. 'As you work more and more, the industry allows you to try more things. And you want to do different characters and play parts that you wouldn't necessarily have been cast in early on.' Locke agreed that he has fallen prey to getting typecast, but that his own experience has made him perfect for the gay roles he has played on shows like Agatha All Along and Heartstopper. 'At the moment, a lot of the auditions I get sent are for the same skinny gay twinks — which is great,' he said. 'And I'm really good at playing that, because I am a skinny gay twink.' See on Instagram But the 21-year-old star confessed that he's been eating more lately to try to put on weight so he can audition for other roles, but so far, he hasn't had any success. I'm struggling now [because] I want to do the opposite of that. I've been trying to put on weight recently. I just can't do it.' Cox shared that he had to start guzzling protein shakes and lifting weights for the first time in order to pack on the muscle for his role in Daredevil. 'They needed me to put on significant muscle quite quickly, and it was really hard. It was a lot of protein shakes. I'd never had a protein shake in my life, and I'd never been to the gym,' he said. Locke joked that he was hoping being on a Marvel show would do that for him, but they didn't want him to bulk up. 'I thought when I was getting Agatha, like, 'Great, I'm going to get paid to go and put on loads of muscle.' And they're like, 'Oh, no, no …' I was like, 'Great, cool. Thanks, guys,'' he said. Cox then asked if there is an actor's career that he'd like to emulate. 'I'm so worried about being boxed in,' Locke said. 'I'm really grateful that I've been able to play loads of great queer characters, but I don't want that to define my career.' Locke said that he looks up to Jonathan Bailey and Colman Domingo who 'is an incredible openly queer person' and has had a diverse career where he's managed to play both queer and straight roles. The young star said he loved his Agatha All Along character Wiccan because 'his queerness isn't a defining feature,' which goes such a long way when it comes to positive LGBTQ+ representation on screen. 'The whole point of representation is to change people's opinions about things. You can't do that without positive representation, where it's just a part of them. It's great that Marvel felt willing to have that sort of representation on-screen,' he said. Cox responded, "Well, for what it's worth, I think you're too talented to be boxed in.'
