Delhi Minister Ravinder Indraj inspects under-construction facility for persons with disabilities in Narela
New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): Ravinder Indraj, the Delhi government's Minister of Social Welfare, SC & ST Welfare, Cooperative, and Election, inspected the under-construction building for mentally challenged individuals in Narela on Friday.
According to a release, Minister Indraj was accompanied by PWD and Social Welfare Department officials.
Ravinder Indraj stated that the campus is being developed in accordance with the needs of persons with disabilities. Once completed, individuals currently residing in overcrowded shelter homes like Asha Homes in Rohini will be relocated here.
According to the release, the building, located within the Nursing College Hostel premises and the Primary Urban Health Centre campus in Narela, will accommodate 220 differently abled residents. It is expected to be operational within three months.
The Social Welfare Minister instructed that the campus must be fully disability-friendly, the construction should be of high quality, there must be no encroachment around the premises, and ambulance movement should not face any obstruction.
The Delhi Minister also stated that multiple facilities are being developed across the city-state for persons with disabilities. Once the facilities in Mamurpur and Dallupura are completed, it will significantly improve access to services, safety, and healthcare for the differently-abled.
On World Environment Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently announced that 280 electric buses will be added to the city's fleet by 2027 as part of a new electric vehicle (EV) policy.
Speaking to ANI, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government plans to add 280 electric buses by 2027.
'We have decided to give 280 electric buses to Delhi. By 2027, the whole fleet of buses the Delhi government provides will be electric. We are also bringing in a new EV policy,' she said.
CM Gupta praised the new buses, calling them a tremendous asset for Delhi and highlighting their high comfort level and security features.
'These buses are a tremendous asset for Delhi. This is a highly comfortable bus. Cameras and a panic button have been installed inside the bus. The buses have a low floor and are air-conditioned,' the Delhi CM said. (ANI)

Mirwaiz while addressing a Friday gathering here at historic Jama Masjid in downtown Srinagar said that train links are a welcome, but it is the human links that truly matter and endure. On the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, Mirwaiz said that for thousands of families in J&K, the festival brings no joy. 'Their sons, husbands, fathers and brothers have been incarcerated for years—many without trial—in jails within and outside J&K. And each passing day, more of our youth are detained,' said Mirwaiz. The Hurriyat chief said that all such prisoners, including political leadership, remain in the prayers and thoughts of the people. Mirwaiz urged Government of India that a goodwill gesture be made on the occasion of Eid, by releasing these prisoners. 'If the Prime Minister truly seeks to reduce the 'dil ki doori' (distance of hearts) which he often mentions in his speeches, then such humanitarian steps are the real way forward. Train links are welcome, but it is the human links that truly matter and endure," said Mirwaiz. The Hurriyat leader also condemned the tragic and inhuman killing of 30-year-old Zubair Bhat of Ali Kadal, Srinagar, who was working in New Delhi. "The incident is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. Zubair's custodial-like death—allegedly at the hands of Delhi police as claimed by his family—has brought back haunting memories of such deaths and raised serious concerns regarding the safety and security of Kashmiris residing or working in different parts of India," said Mirwaiz. The Hurriyat leader said that the killing has sent shockwaves through the community and added to the prevailing fear and anxiety among the thousands of Kashmiri students, professionals, traders, and labourers living outside J&K. 'After the recent Pahalgam incident, Kashmiris across the country are increasingly facing hostility. And now, an innocent young trader has been killed in cold blood. How long will this go on?' Mirwaiz asked. The Hurriyat leader urged the Government of India and the Union Territory administration to fulfill their constitutional responsibility and ensure the safety, security, and dignity of all Kashmiri citizens, especially those outside the region. 'The silence and inaction only embolden those targeting Kashmiris,' he also made a heartfelt appeal to civil rights organisations, writers, intellectuals, and conscientious citizens of India to raise their voice against "the growing onslaught on Kashmiris and to stand up in solidarity with the victims of such brutality."

By virtue of the authoritative pronouncement of the judgment by the SC in the Common Cause case, read with section 20 (a) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act 1957, it can be seen that the state, as a delegatee in framing rules relating to minor minerals, could not have created any contra rules that overreach or supersede the notifications issued by the centre. 'Consequently, notwithstanding Rule 42 (iii) of the TN Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1959, which grants 630 days of time, I hold that both the lessees of major and minor minerals of less than 5 ha are mandated to obtain EC, even if they are existing lessees and their renewal is not due as of 15.01.2016,' the order read. Justice Chakravarthy stated once it has been established that it is a mandate of law, merely because there were some actions taken by the state government and the MoEF in issuing clarifications, it cannot be claimed that Section 21 (5) of the MMDR Act, 1957 cannot be enforced. He upheld the individual orders of the collectors, challenged in the writ pleas, which impose 100% penalty of the minerals' value under the MMDR Act. However, he ordered deducting the seiniorage fees already paid by the lessees from the penalty amount and recover the balance which shall be intimated to them within three weeks. The lessees have to pay the amount within two months thereof.
