2015 murder of BJP leaders: NIA attaches properties of ‘D-Company gang member' in Gujarat's Bharuch

Indian Express2 days ago
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said it has attached two properties belonging to an alleged member of the 'D-Company' gang based out of Pakistan. The attachment of property came after a recent court ruling while hearing a case on the murder of two BJP functionaries in 2015.
The NIA on Friday said it had attached two immovable properties of Mohammad Yunus alias Manjro in the 2015 Bharuch double murder case.
The properties were attached under section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on the orders of the NIA Special court in Ahmedabad, earlier in July.
'The attached properties include his residential house of 143.96 square metres located in Ward No. 3, City Survey No. 3614, and 25.59 square metres in city survey No. 3615,' said the NIA statement.
Mohammad Yunus alias Manjro was arrested for his alleged role in the criminal conspiracy and murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers Shirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry on November 2, 2015.

BJP was never mum on Prajwal Revanna case, says Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday said the BJP was never silent on former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who got life imprisonment in a rape case. The leader said the BJP has always maintained that whoever commits a crime should be punished. "There is a law in the country and whoever has done mistake or has committed crime, the court has examined and court has given the verdict. It has to be accepted by everybody," Joshi told reporters. When he was told that Congress leaders are alleging that the BJP is keeping mum on the issue because of its Alliance with the JD(S), he said, "Where have we kept mum and why we have to keep mum? I have already spoken on it. If somebody does something wrong he has to face action." "Are there not people in the Congress Party who committed heinous crime like this and they were with the Congress Party previously? They were with the Prime Minister. Yasin Malik was with the then Prime Minister. There are many people. I don't want to name much people," Joshi charged. The former Hassan MP was on Saturday sentenced to prison term for the remainder of his life, while the court slapped an overall fine of Rs 11.50 lakh on him, directing that Rs 11.25 lakh of it be paid to the victim woman, a domestic help of the accused family. The court had on Friday convicted the 34-year-old grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda in one of the four sexual abuse and rape cases against him. The BJP and the JD(S) are alliance partners and its state president H D Kumaraswamy is a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi led central government. Regarding the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's proposed agitation in Bengaluru on August 5, the Minister wondered what the protest was about. He said whenever Congress wins elections, it never complains but it blames Electronic Voting Machines or the Election Commission itself for losing polls.

‘Officer Param bir broke every law': Former BJP MP Pragya Thakur launches fierce attack on ex-Mumbai police commissioner

BHOPAL: 'Param Bir Singh is a depraved and disgraceful officer who broke every law,' former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur said on Sunday in Bhopal, launching a fierce attack on the former Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra ATS. Thakur, who was recently acquitted in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, alleged she was illegally detained and tortured because she refused to name top BJP and RSS leaders. Thakur claimed that during her interrogation, she was pressured to implicate senior figures like RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, PM Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath , Indresh Kumar, and former BJP leader Ram Madhav . 'They told me to say these leaders told me to do it. I refused—and that's why they tortured me,' she said in Bhopal while addressing the media. She alleged that she was held illegally for 13 days, remained in police custody for 24 days, and was physically and mentally harassed by ATS officers, including male personnel. 'They crossed all limits. Every law was broken,' Pragya said. Thakur accused the Congress-led UPA govt of misusing investigative agencies to 'create fear' and label Hindutva as terrorism. 'The entire ecosystem was used to demonise Hindus, saints, and even the armed forces. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Health: the best shoes to walk and stand all day Ultra-Comfortable Shoes Undo They tried to erase our identity,' she added further. Without directly naming Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh, she said, 'That man is not worth naming. Whoever takes his name in the morning will have a bad day.' She also referred to co-accused who allegedly died under suspicious circumstances. 'One woman still doesn't know if she's a widow. That's the extent to which they went,' she added. 'The court has now said those who presented false evidence must be investigated. I'm confident they will be punished,' Thakur said, adding, 'We work for rashtra neeti, not rajneeti.'
