Five Killed in Russian Drone Attack on Residential Building in Kharkiv, Ukraine - Jordan News
Five Killed in Russian Drone Attack on Residential Building in Kharkiv, Ukraine A Russian drone attack targeted a five-story residential building in Kharkiv, Ukraine, early Monday morning, killing five people and injuring more than ten others, according to Ukrainian authorities. اضافة اعلان The attack, which occurred shortly before dawn, destroyed part of the building entirely and set at least three floors on fire, according to Oleg Sinegubov, the regional governor, via Telegram. He stated that Russia launched four drones toward the building. The official Ukrainian Emergency Service released footage showing rescue teams lifting debris to reach a trapped resident, while other clips showed a floor engulfed in flames. The Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office confirmed that 'five people were killed, including a girl about one and a half years old,' and added that 'at least 18 others were injured and suffered severe shock, including children.' Earlier, a ballistic missile struck Kharkiv, near the Russian border, injuring at least 11 people, according to the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov. Oleg Kiber, governor of southern Odessa region, reported that Russian drones targeted the area early Monday, causing a fire at a fuel facility. These attacks coincided with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his European allies visiting Washington for talks aimed at ending the war that has continued for three and a half years. Before Zelensky's arrival in Washington, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine would not be able to regain Crimea, annexed by Russia, nor join NATO as part of any peace agreement. Zelensky has consistently resisted pressure to cede Crimea, which Russia occupied and annexed in 2014. Russia, advancing militarily in recent months, has suggested that Ukraine withdraw from the Donbas region in exchange for freezing the frontlines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, where major cities remain under Kyiv's control. —AFP
