Gujarat CM felicitates newly elected sarpanches, warns them against being misguided towards corruption
Addressing a function in Gandhinagar to felicitate the newly elected Sarpanches and members of gram panchayats, the CM said, 'The governments of the state and Centre allocate sufficient money for the development of villages. Today, by allocating a grant of Rs 1,236 to the gram panchayats, (the government has) attained the resolve of fulfilling what is promised. This money, Rs 1,236 crore, too, will go to the accounts of you all.'
He further said, 'Since I have talked about money, let me tell you that it is not worth it to run after money. Else, you know that there is zero tolerance currently… No one has been spared once caught and no one will be spared in the future as well. All of you are new, so you should be careful that nobody misguides you.'
Referring to the recently held elections of gram panchayats, the CM said that they have broken all the records.
'As per the information I have, this time, the number of Sarpanches in the age group of 21-40 is 42%. Among them, the number of Sarpanches below the age of 30 are 616 while 1,341 of them are between the age of 31 and 40. As many as 1,337 Sarpanches are between the ages of 41 and 50, while 1,326 are above 50 years old… And one of them, sitting here, has done Ph D,' CM Patel said.
In May, the Gujarat State Election Commission had declared elections to 4,564 gram panchayats in the state. Out of them, 761 have emerged as Samras Gram Panchayats where the villagers chose their Sarpanch and ward members through consensus; 56 of them are Mahila Samras Gram Panchayats.
On Friday, as the newly elected Sarpanches and ward members were felicitated, the CM also disbursed over Rs 35 crore to the Samras Gram Panchayats for village development.
On the occasion, the CM announced a decision of the government to double the allocation of funds for cleanliness in villages. He said that the allocation of Rs 4 per person for cleanliness in a village has been hiked to Rs 4 per person.
Held at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, the function was also attended by Union Minister for Jal Shakti and Gujarat BJP Chief C R Paatil, Rural Development ministers Raghavji Patel and Kunvarji Halpati, among others.
Addressing the function, Paatil asked the newly elected Sarpanches and panchayat members to take up the responsibility of cleanliness and water conservation in their respective villages. Paatil said through water conservation, his ministry wants to bring out 150 districts of the country from the tag of dark zones.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister for Jal Shakti C R Paatil also inaugurated a Solar Frame Plant of a private company, H&H Aluminium Private Limited, in Rajkot. Paatil virtually inaugurated the plant from a function in Ahmedabad. Addressing the gathering, Paatil called upon the industries to come forward in complementing the government's efforts towards water conservation by recharging the groundwater level.

Govt launches housing scheme for transgender individuals
T'puram: In a move aimed at empowering the transgender community and promoting their social integration, state govt approved a dedicated housing scheme exclusively for transgender individuals. An initial fund of Rs 50 lakh was allocated for the first phase of the project. The scheme, launched under social justice department, is designed to address the housing problems transgenders individuals face. It will provide financial assistance for both land acquisition and house construction. Under the scheme, transgender persons who own land but did not receive support under schemes like LIFE Mission will be eligible for up to Rs 6 lakh to construct a house. Up to Rs 15 lakh will be made available as a loan for those who need to purchase land and build a house. Transgender beneficiaries who received housing support through govt or non-govt agencies but were unable to complete it will receive gap funding. An additional Rs 2 lakh will be given to those allotted houses under LIFE Mission. In the initial phase, five individuals will receive this assistance. Applicants can submit their forms online or in person. Beneficiaries will be selected based on priority. A technical committee, chaired by director of social justice, will oversee the selection process. To avail the financial support, applicants must present valid identity documents confirming their transgender status. Those applying for construction assistance must provide proof of land ownership. Priority will be given to transgender persons who do not own homes, those living in temporary or unsafe conditions and elderly and disabled transgender individuals.

25 leading cos show interest to make ITIs world-class centres
Mumbai: About 25 leading industry stakeholders, including the likes of Jindal Steel, Chitale Bandhu, Toyota India, Mahindra & Mahindra, and the Baramati Industrial Development Association, have expressed interest in collaborating with the government to convert Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state to world-class centres. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The govt had reached out to several companies, professionals and entrepreneurs for the scheme to develop ITIs through public-private partnerships (PPP) in May this year. Some of these companies are keen to adopt more than one ITIs. A GR was released in May by the state drawing the policy, mentioning that the ownership of campuses will remain with the govt, while industry partners can introduce courses, train teachers, and modernise facilities. The state has over 425 ITIs. The state wants all these to be gradually adopted by the industries, but in the first year, the plan is to have at least 25 running in the PPP model. On Wednesday, during a media interaction, state's skill, employment, entrepreneurship and innovation minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, said 'about 25 leading industries have shown interest and the MoUs are likely to be signed soon'. In yet another move, to increase the employability of ITI students and to cultivate managerial skills in them, the govt will be offering short-term courses in management education in ITIs from this Sep. Lodha said, "Our students have great technical know-how, but they lack management knowledge and therefore are unable to bag top positions in the industries. To bridge this gap, we have decided to offer them short-term courses in management, soft-skills and AI. " While these optional courses will be offered free of cost to students from the ITIs, outsiders can also enroll for them at a nominal fee of Rs 5,000. The upper age limit for these courses has been fixed at 40 years. Under management, courses in business analytics, marketing, production management, financial and behavioural management will be offered as three- to four-month courses. Courses in soft skills, service industry and new-age courses such as AI-machine learning developer, solar panel installation, drone technology and operations, EV mechanic, "will also be offered in ITIs based on the demand placed by institutes and their local requirement," said Lodha. For instance, a course in fish processing in the coastal region or agro-processing in the agricultural belt will be offered too. The course content will be developed by the state's skill university.
