Whether on official duties or a romantic holiday with his wife, Prince Mateen of Brunei never fails to attract attention. The young royal previously went viral after sharing photographs from a recent trip to Venice, Italy, with his beloved Princess Anisha.
Fans were delighted to see the couple enjoying their time in the famed city of canals. More recently, His Royal Highness has once again captured the admiration of his followers, this time after losing a 'catch-the-stick' game with friends. Here's what happened:
Recently, the official Polo Line Instagram page shared a video of Prince Mateen and his teammates playing a light-hearted warm-up game using polo mallets ahead of a match. While it has no official name, the activity is commonly referred to as The Stick Game. In it, players form a circle and, on cue, move in the same direction, releasing their stick and attempting to catch the one next to them. Any player who fails to catch a stick is eliminated.
In the video, a coach can be heard instructing the group to release and move left to catch the next stick in time. Unfortunately for His Royal Highness, he became momentarily confused when the coach called for the group to move in the opposite direction. As a result, the Prince let go of his stick but failed to catch the next one in time.
The video has since been reposted on TikTok, where fans were quick to react to Prince Mateen's more playful side. As shown in the screenshots above, many responded with emojis, expressing their amusement at seeing the young royal enjoying a light-hearted game with his teammates. It's definitely not every day that you'd get to see someone of high status participating in fun activities, although the Pahang royal family are known to be quite the social and lively family with their people.
