Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal said the top court's ruling is a 'massive victory for democracy and a huge message for the Vote Chors who tried to use the SIR to distort the electoral process in Bihar'.
'As one of the petitioners in this case, it is heartening that in unequivocal terms, the Court has ordered that machine-readable electoral rolls be made available - in line with one of the central demand of Rahul ji's press conference,' Mr. Venugopal said in a post on X. The court's rejection of the ECI's plea against the use of Aadhaar is a major boost as the document is the most widely held by the poor people of Bihar, he said.

'Gigantic first step'
In a separate X post, Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh said the top court has just upheld the Constitution of India in a 'categorical, convincing, and courageous manner'.
'It is a long struggle to rescue our Republic from the machinations of the PM and his drumbeaters. But today's verdict of the Supreme Court on the Bihar SIR issue is a beacon of hope. It is a gigantic first step,' Mr. Ramesh added.
Vote Adhikar Yatra
Continuing his fight for 'one man one vote,' Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi gave a call to the youth of Bihar to join his Vote Adhikar Yatra, that will cover 1,300 km over 16 days.
'From August 17, with #VoterAdhikarYatra, we are launching a direct fight against vote theft from the soil of Bihar. This is not just an election issue — it is a decisive battle to protect democracy, the constitution, and the principle of 'one man, one vote'. We will ensure a clean voter list across the entire country,' Mr. Gandhi said in a post on X.
'Youth, workers, farmers - every citizen, rise and join this people's movement. This time, the defeat of vote thieves - the victory of the people, the victory of the constitution,' he added.

SPCSS-TN urges CM to hold consultation for better SEP
The State Platform for Common School System – Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN) has urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to hold direct consultation with members of the High Level Committee, educationists and other forums to strengthen the State Education Policy (SEP). In a letter to the Chief Minister, general secretary, SPCSS - TN P. B. Prince Gajendra Babu said, 'The non-availability of the Report of the High Level Committee in the public domain and the announcement of the policy without placing the draft for discussion, denied the democratic space for people to negotiate on certain proposals in the policy.' The letter further added that the State Policy should be grounded on the premises of the Constitution of India. 'The Policy should set the curricular goals. The policy should ensure that at the completion of basic education in schools, the student should have a clear vision that caste is a discriminatory social practice, and it is against the Constitution of India,' it added. Pointing out that the concept of Model Schools, VETRI Schools and involvement of volunteers in curricular activities are against the concept of Samacheer Kalvi Policy and the principles of Social Justice, he said that a policy cannot sustain inequalities. The letter also pointed out that permanent teaching and non-teaching staff are a must for continuous formative assessment and that budgetary allocations must be made instead of philanthropic contributions.
