NC500 named (second) best road trip in Europe by Reddit
Now car insurance firm Saga has taken a deep dive into the online chatter, and discovered that the NC500 was listed as one of the top car journeys for Europhiles, coming second only to the stunning landscape of Iceland's Stokksnes Peninsula.
The NC500 is a 500-mile circuit of the north coast of Scotland which takes in mountain scenery, waterfalls, castles and stunning beaches.
Starting in Inverness, the 516-mile route loops around the entire north coast, taking in Caithness, Sutherland and Wester Ross.
Now world famous, the road trip has been hailed for revitalising a neglected area, but also criticised for the increase of traffic and jams caused by motorhomes.

Using a unique scoring system, the firm combined total mentions (25%) and total comment likes (50%) and also analysed the average sentiment of comments (25%), Saga scoured more than 73,000 Reddit comments and rated the top 10 countries and destinations for road trippers this summer.
Placing the NC500 second on the list, ahead of Ring of Kerry in Ireland, the trip between the ancient sites of Meteora and Delphi in Greeca, and a visit to Stonehenge in rural Salisbury.
'Just one drink could take you over the limit, versus up to two in England.
'Pavement parking is illegal in Scotland which also bans double parking and parking on dropped kerbs. Offenders can be fined £100 by local authorities.'
Complaints have been made about the number of motorhomes on the route (Image: George Clerk) Overall, Scotland as a whole was ranked third on a list of the best destinations for drivers, behind Iceland and Italy, but ahead of Norway and Ireland.
Saga's Car Insurance Product Manager Ali Ingram-Seal urged motorists to be safe wherever they travel:
She said: 'With so many accessible destinations in Europe to choose from, a little preparation goes a long way to ensure a smooth, stress-free road trip.
'If you're taking your own vehicle, start by checking that your car insurance covers driving in Europe, and what it covers, like loss or theft, accidental damage or medical costs following an accident.
'You'll also need to carry some important documents, such as your driving licence, V5C logbook, and proof of insurance.
'Some scenic roads, while beautiful, can include steep gradients, narrow passes, or long rural stretches without fuel stations.'

Solo female traveler teaches Karen a lesson during bizarre restaurant encounter
A solo traveler sparked an internet uproar by sharing her bold response to a bizarre encounter she had with a mom who took issue with her drinking wine. Redditor nurseB89 claimed she was enjoying a relaxing all-inclusive trip to Tenerife, the largest of Spain 's Canary Islands, when a mother-of-three complained about her alcohol consumption. The baffled user explained her hotel had 'club style seating,' meaning she was sat near strangers while she ate her meals. When the incident occurred, she said she was the first to sit down at the table and was sipping a glass of wine when she was joined by a family of five, two parents and three children. Trouble arose when the mother noticed her choice of beverage. 'We do not wish to expose our children to women drinking alcohol,' the bothered mom bluntly said, leaving the wine-drinking woman stunned. Hoping to remain cordial without backing down, nurseB89 said she simply smiled and suggested the mother and her family move tables - but this only made matters worse. 'They noticed I was on my own and made passive aggressive comments about this,' the user wrote. Sharing her strange interaction with tens of thousands of people on Reddit , she asked, 'AITA [am I the a******] for ordering alcohol?' She then went to go get food from the buffet. When she returned, her wine glass was missing. 'A waiter came over and asked to see my wrist band (for the all inclusive) and said the family had told them I was underage and must have sneaked away from my parents,' the fed-up vacationer wrote. After sorting it out with the employee, she was given a new glass of wine just as the family returned to the table with their food. With no intentions of appeasing the 'Karen' mom now, she decided to take advantage of the all-inclusive resort - ordering an entire bottle of wine and a couple of vodka shots. 'The family stormed out the [restaurant] when I drank the shots as they arrived at the table!' she announced. Sharing her strange interaction with tens of thousands of people on Reddit, she asked, 'AITA [am I the a******] for ordering alcohol?' With more than 32,000 upvotes and 2,000 comments, social media users had plenty to say about the situation. 'It's just WOMEN drinking alcohol. What the heck is that about? It's clearly not an issue with alcohol as much as it is with women. Sheesh,' someone reacted. With more than 32,000 upvotes and 2,000 comments, social media users had plenty to say about the situation 'I can't believe this situation. She doesn't want to expose her children to seeing someone drink alcohol, but she's willing to expose her children to her own lying!' another wrote. Many users commended her actions and said they would have done the same thing. 'You are an absolute legend for requesting the full bottle of wine and vodka shots. This level of pettiness is something we should all aspire to,' one user said. One person said it was 'an interesting way to get your point across' and another admitted it was a 'total AH move' but ultimately thought it was called for. Beyond Reddit, an etiquette expert has chimed into the heated discussion, telling Fox Digital the mother's behavior was 'inappropriate.' 'On a vacation, where the tables are open for anyone to sit, a guest should be able to order whatever they would like,' Diane Gottsman, founder and owner of the Protocol School of Texas in San Antonio, told the outlet. 'If the mother does not want her children exposed to alcohol, it's a personal, family preference and the rest of the table should not be expected to follow her self-imposed rule. 'If the mother was that opposed, she should have gotten up and taken her family to another table.'

Oasis fans offered tips to avoid travel chaos after gigs at Murrayfield Stadium
Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher will be at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on the Oasis Live '25 Tour, with fans of acts like Taylor Swift offering advice to concertgoers Fans of Oasis have been offered advice from supporters of acts like Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams ahead of the band's reunion tour. It comes ahead of Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher playing gigs at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. There's concern about getting home from the venue, which has a capacity of 67,000, in August. It comes following the experiences of Taylor's fans, who grappled with transport difficulties last June when the international singer dazzled crowds over three nights at the venue during her Era's Tour. Now, as the countdown to the Oasis gigs on August 8, 9 and 12 continues, fans of the band have been issued advice, as reported by the Daily Record. It includes them having been dissuaded from using Haymarket station – advice shared on a Reddit thread entitled: "People of Glasgow that are going to Oasis in Edinburgh, how are we getting home?'' The user sparked discussion about how people that live outside of Edinburgh are planning to get home. The post read: "As per title, are people chancing being able to get a train home? A coach? A million pound taxi? I'm really not sure of the best plan of action..." One Swiftie from Glasgow suggested: "Tip from when I was at Taylor Swift last year. Everyone will be trying to get a train from Haymarket, and it'll be f***ing mobbed." Advising instead: "Head to Waverly (either via tram or just walk) and get on the train there, it'll be significantly quieter, and you'll likely get a table seat as well, rather than being stuck standing." There's also been advice from someone who attended Robbie Williams' gig in Edinburgh, where he kicked off his BRIT POP world tour at the end of last month. Offering their advice, they said: "We were at Robbie Williams on Saturday and Citylink buses were pretty decent. "Drop you right outside the stadium and pick you up just a little bit further away be prepared for a bit of [a] wait though because it's busy. So the concert finished at 10:30 and we were on the bus by about 11:30." Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp! As the hotly anticipated Oasis reunion tour grows closer, the Mirror has launched its very own Oasis WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest news on the Gallagher brothers and all the information you'll need in the run up to the gigs. Another person chimed in to the discussion reassuring revellers about late-night transportation between cities: "The buses run 24 hours between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I don't think it will be that bad trying to get home via public transport." There was however a word of caution about high demand to book ahead from someone else. They wrote: "Make sure to book the [CityLink] 900 and AIR buses ahead of time, they fill up quickly." Another person suggested similarly, writing in part of their response: "Citylink run all night. Happy Bus run private coach transfers from Buchanan to the event and back." A different user offered a more unconventional tip for catching a quieter bus: "Head to a club till you're completely knackered then head for a bus (they run 24/7 as previously mentioned). By that time most folk will have f***ed off already." Oasis fans are buzzing with anticipation as the band is set to rock Murrayfield Stadium with three gigs this summer on August 8, 9 and 12. The much-awaited reunion tour marks the first time the Gallagher brothers will share the stage in 16 years, with the opening show set to take place in Cardiff on July 4.
