Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Ohmium Join Forces to Advance Green Hydrogen Solutions in India
New Delhi – In a significant move towards sustainable mobility and clean energy adoption, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ohmium International, a leading global player in PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) hydrogen technology. The collaboration aims to explore and develop green hydrogen-based energy solutions tailored for India.
The MoU was formalized at an event held at the Shangri-La Eros Hotel in New Delhi, attended by top government officials and industry leaders. The ceremony was presided over by Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, with Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, and Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister of Environment, Industries and Forests (Delhi), as guests of honor.
This strategic collaboration will focus on integrating Toyota's advanced PEM fuel cell modules with Ohmium's modular and efficient electrolyzer systems to create scalable and cost-effective green hydrogen solutions. The goal is to support India's decarbonization efforts in industries like transportation, energy, and manufacturing.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, backed by its parent Toyota Motor Corporation Japan, will contribute its global expertise in hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology. Ohmium, which operates manufacturing facilities in India and maintains a global green hydrogen project pipeline, will provide its state-of-the-art electrolyzers, equipped with advanced power electronics and cooling systems.
'Our partnership marks a major milestone in the pursuit of clean energy solutions,' said Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and SVP at Toyota Kirloskar Motor. 'By combining our fuel cell innovations with Ohmium's technological strength in hydrogen production, we aim to accelerate India's transition to a carbon-neutral future.'
Echoing this sentiment, Ohmium CEO Arne Ballantine said, 'Toyota's legacy in hydrogen technology is unmatched. Together, we will make green hydrogen practical and accessible across various sectors in India.'
This partnership reinforces both companies' commitment to India's energy security and sustainability goals, and paves the way for a future where hydrogen becomes a mainstream energy source.

Govt committed to building safe and smart energy future: Minister
The government is committed to building a safe and smart energy future through initiatives like rooftop solar, EV charging infrastructure , battery storage, and digital fault detection, Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, has stressed. The ' Electrical Safety Day ' is a powerful reminder to us as we transition towards a cleaner, smarter, and more digital energy ecosystem, safety must remain at the core of every advancement, the Power Minister said in a statement on Saturday. "Electricity empowers every facet of modern life - from homes and hospitals to industries and mobility - but it must be handled with utmost caution," Naik emphasised. Safety is a shared responsibility, and "I urge every citizen, technician, and stakeholder to remain vigilant and responsible. Together, let us build not just a Smart India, but a Safe India," he said at an event organised by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in association with BSES. Naik highlighted the need for robust safety protocols to accompany India's rapid energy transition . Over 300 delegates from all corners of the energy sector - ranging from utilities and regulatory bodies, State Chief Electrical Inspectorate officers, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), OEMs, manufacturers, field technicians, and proactive energy users (prosumers) - attended the event, while large number of people viewing it virtually. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, said, "Safety in the power sector must be a core value - not just a checklist". "As we advance towards smarter, cleaner energy systems, accountability and vigilance become paramount. I believe fostering a proactive safety culture is key to building a reliable and future-ready power ecosystem," he noted. Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA, stated, "Electrical Safety is not just a mandate - it's a mindset. In this era of distributed and smart energy systems, we must ensure that safety remains central to every innovation and every connection. Handle Electricity with care and stay aware". This year's 'Electrical Safety Day' marked a pivotal collaboration between policy makers, utilities, and the public, strengthening the foundation of a 'Smart Energy, Safe Nation'.

Next-gen ambulances to have equipment to extricate crash victims
New Delhi: To ensure that road crash victims get medical assistance in the quickest possible time, the next-generation ambulances will have equipment such as glassbreak or window punch tool, rescue axe, bolt cutter, heavy-duty hydraulic jack and basic vehicle tool set to extricate persons trapped inside vehicles, as happens often after accidents. The Centre is finalising changes in the Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) for ambulances to ensure availability of these equipment in the vehicles and has published the draft notification. Some of the ambulances will be equipped to transport sick or premature newborns from one hospital to another for better care and function as neonatal ambulance. There will be multiple stretcher ambulances also to help in road crashes, fires and other accidents or disasters. The draft AIS mentions nine pieces of equipment that ambulances must have, besides a fire extinguisher and respiratory protection masks. "The changes needed will be incorporated soon," said an official. The ambulances will also have LED flashlights or torches, reflective warning triangles, emergency light bars and reflective safety jackets for all crew members to avoid an accident during rescue operations. These changes gain importance considering that there have been several instances of ambulances not being of much use even after reaching accident sites, as the injured trapped inside vehicles could not be taken out on time. Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari has been stressing the need to equip ambulances with such equipment. "Most of the time it is difficult to find or source cutting tools after crashes. More often than not, ambulances and cranes parked at toll plazas are showpieces, being non-functional," he had said. As per estimates, lives of around 50% of victims could be saved if they get help in the first, or golden, hour.
