Breaking news, ESPN's Shams Charania reporting that Bradley Beal has agreed to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns, and he is going to sign a 2-year, $11 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.
First blush, great move by the Los Angeles Clippers.
I mean, this is a team that needed, with Norman Powell's exit, who moved to the Miami Heat.
They needed to fill the scoring void in case James Harden and Kawhi Leonard are not on the floor, and that is a big question mark for the Clippers.
Now, with Brad Beal and Norman Powell leaving, he fills the shoes left by Powell, and I gotta say, like, the scarlet letter of having this guy on a max deal, one of the worst contracts in the NBA.
You gotta get that out of your head.
Bradley Beal is going to be awesome for the Clippers at this number, that is a steal.
So the Clippers, this is great business for them.
They're getting a good scorer, a plug and play scorer, a guy who can do some ball handling and running that offense in the event that James Harden is hitting the bench, or he's not playing, or Kawhi Leonard needs a game off because we know Kawhi Leonard isn't going to be playing 82 games next year.
So, Bradley Beal is not just an insurance policy.
He's a great catch and shoot scorer.
Is this team better than the Oklahoma City Thunder?
No.
I'm not going to put them on the same tier, I think they're a tier below.
I don't think anyone's touching the Oklahoma City Thunder this year.
The Clippers are going to be in that thick of the race with Denver, with the Lakers, with Minnesota, trying to get into that Western Conference Finals against the Thunder, and I think the Clippers raised their chances of doing that.

Jalen Williams pays homage to Kobe Bryant in social media post

A little over a month since they captured an NBA championship, the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to flex their achievement. Hard to blame them, either. When you win a ring, you get an entire summer to run victory laps. While Jalen Williams recovers from wrist surgery, he took to social media to remind folks what he went through. He battled through a torn wrist ligament during the Thunder's playoff run. Williams' postseason journey was highlighted by a 40-point explosion in Game 5 of the 2025 NBA Finals. All without making a peep about the painful injury that required numb shots every pregame. He only talked about after Sam Presti announced the upcoming surgery that'll knock him out until near training camp. Williams posted a side-by-side photo of himself with Kobe Bryant. Both players wore pajamas at the free-throw line with one hand on the ball. The other hand had a wrist wrap around it. The latter's photo was at a 1999 practice when he learned to shoot with one hand after he sustained a hand fracture. Williams has never been shy about his super fandom of Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was a generation's favorite player. The 24-year-old was around the age range to see his last best years, so it shouldn't be a shocker to see him have such an influence on the All-NBA player. Now, Williams and Bryant both share something else in common — An NBA championship.

Derek Fisher is joining the new broadcast team for the NBA on NBC

This coming season, the NBA will return to NBC after a 23-year hiatus. That means that fans will get to hear that timeless "Roundball Rock" theme song on a regular basis throughout the season. No, Marv Albert and Bob Costas will not be handling broadcasts as they did in the 1990s and early 2000s. But NBC has assembled a solid cast of play-by-play announcers, color commentators and analysts. On Thursday, the network announced that it has added several more talented individuals who are former NBA players to that cast. One of them is Derek Fisher, a guard who won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside the late great Kobe Bryant. Fisher, like Bryant, was a member of that famed 1996 draft class. It took him a little while, but he became a key role player for the Purple and Gold as they won the first three world titles of the 21st century. After two seasons with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Utah Jazz, he returned to the Lakers in 2007 and earned two more rings in 2009 and 2010. Fans remember him for hitting key 3-pointers, especially in the playoffs, and for his grittiness and leadership.

Nets' Michael Porter Jr. posts vlog of first day in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. had one of the more eventful offseasons compared to most players in the NBA as he found out he was being traded while on a flight. Brooklyn acquired Porter and a 2032 first-round pick from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for forward Cam Johnson and the former Missouri Tiger finally got the chance to explore his new surroundings. "Excited. (I) got my first lift today. My first little core workout, you know what I mean? So, I came here to grind. (I) got to get better," Porter said during his vlog of his first day in Brooklyn posted to his "Curious Mike" YouTube channel. Porter's vlog shows him getting a tour of the Nets' practice facility that he will be familiarizing himself with over the course of the upcoming season. "I'm not even going to lie, it's a whirlwind getting traded," Porter said following the conclusion of the tour. "To figure out the new facility, your new space, how you get to the arena, all that little stuff. It takes a minute. It took me about 3 years to learn how to get from my crib to the Denver airport with no GPS. So, it's definitely going to be a little adjustment period." Porter, 27, spent his first seven years in the league as a member of the Denver Nuggets before being traded to the Nets earlier this offseason. Porter, the 14th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, said during his time watching Brooklyn play in the Las Vegas Summer League that he's excited to show what he can do in an expanded role after seeing his game "plateau" in Denver. Porter previously posted a video on his YouTube channel about how being traded away by the Nuggets was a shock to him and was unexpected given how the summer had been progressing. Despite the suddenness of the trade, Porter is getting to work. "I'm not even going to lie. They got me working probably as hard as I've ever worked, but I'm making progress. Um, I'm excited, man. This is an amazing opportunity," Porter said in his vlog following a workout.
