Britain's Got Talent host Dec steps in to apologise to viewers 'offended' by Bruno Tonioli remark

Britain's Got Talent host Dec steps in to apologise to viewers 'offended' by Bruno Tonioli remark The final of Britain's Got Talent aired on Saturday with Ant and Dec returning to host. Dec Donnelly stepped in to apologise for Bruno Tonioli during the Britain's Got Talent final on Saturday (May 31), where 10 finalists and a wildcard fought for the 2025 crown. The winner this year is set for a hefty £250,000 prize and the prestigious opportunity to dazzle at the Royal Variety Performance before members of the Royal family. ‌ The live event commenced with a standout performance by wildcard ABBA tribute act Hannah and Fran, proceeding to a variety of acts from singers, comedians to dancers lighting up the stage. ‌ Amidst the performances, it was comedian Joseph Charm's slot that saw judge Bruno, aged 69, make a gaffe. Delivering his critique amidst chuckles from the audience, Bruno was effusive about the act's quality. Bruno became emotional (Image: ITV ) However, he inadvertently let slip a profanity prior to the 9pm watershed, reports the Manchester Evening News. ‌ "We were just p***ing," Bruno remarked during his feedback, then paused, quickly realising his mistake, and issued an apology immediately after. Due to the prohibition on swearing pre-watershed, host Dec too found himself having to say sorry for Bruno's linguistic mishap, asserting: "Apologies if you were offended by Bruno's slip of the tongue there." Aware of Bruno's faux pas, viewers swiftly reacted on social media platforms, with @AGH1494 commenting: "A lovely swear from Bruno. #BGTFinal #BGT #BritainsGotTalent." While another viewer posted: "Bruno dropped a minor swear klaxon! #bgt." ‌ Dec apologised for Bruno (Image: ITV ) Adding to the reactions, @elliecolton_ tweeted: "I'm sorry but Bruno swearing on Britains Got Talent has got me in stitches even 15 minutes after, so funny." Another audience member remarked: "Dec apologising for Bruno [laughing crying emojis]." ‌ Later on, following drag queen Jasmine Rice's stunning performance of Nessun Dorma, an emotional outpour ensued from Bruno. Overwhelmed with emotion, the judge described the performer as a 'living work of art' through tears. On platform X, @padahugs wrote: "Was predicting that Bruno will cry at this #BGT." Article continues below @KirstyJ80 shared similar sentiments, quipping: "Why do they always choose this song? ! And Bruno in tears - get a grip #bgt." Catch up with Britain's Got Talent now on ITVX.
