Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of NFL's 100 most important players CBS Sports named the 100 most important players in the NFL in 2025. Harrison is one of them.
The Arizona Cardinals hope to be relevant in 2025 following an 8-9 season last year when they lost five of their last seven games. One player expected to be great last season was receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in his rookie campaign. He wasn't great, but he was productive, having one of the best rookie receiver seasons in team history.
Entering Year 2 in the NFL, he is one of the 100 most important players in the NFL, according to CBS Sports.
He comes in at No. 39, just after quarterback Kyler Murray, who is No. 38.
The same goes for Marvin Harrison Jr., who was viewed as a sure-thing prospect at wide receiver but finished with 885 yards and caught just 53% of his targets. Of course, a lot of those were tough targets; Harrison only received 29 targets between the numbers, so using him on more immediate routes and away from the sideline could be a helpful first step. Murray hasn't shown a propensity to target that area of the field, though.
The "same" referred to is the fact that the Cardinals didn't do much on offense in the offense, so Harrison has some weight on his shoulders.
Harrison has added bulk and size this season, which hopefully will increase his strength and ability to make contested catches.
Harrison's rookie season was similar to what his Hall of Fame father had as a rookie and also similar to Larry Fitzgerald's first year.
As long as he stays healthy, he should become a much more dynamic offensive player in 2025.

Chapman homers, Harrison pitches five scoreless innings as Giants beat Marlins 2-0

MIAMI -- Matt Chapman homered, Kyle Harrison pitched five shutout innings and the San Francisco Giants beat the Miami Marlins 2-0 on Friday night. Tyler Fitzgerald went 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base for the Giants, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Harrison (1-1) made his second start since moving to the rotation, with three-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander still out because of a strained right pectoral muscle. Harrison held the Marlins (22-33) without a hit until Eric Wagaman's leadoff single in the fourth. The left-hander didn't allow another one, striking out five and walking three. Five relievers held the Marlins to two hits before before Camilo Doval got the final four outs for his sixth save. Chapman hit a solo shot off Marlins starter Cal Quantrill (3-5) that went 420 feet to left, which made it 2-0 in the fourth and tied Chapman with Heliot Ramos and Wilmer Flores for the team home run lead with 10. Quantrill struck out a season-high seven over five innings. He gave up eight hits, two runs and walked one. The Giants took the lead in the first when Flores drove in Ramos — who tripled earlier in the inning — with a two-out single that ended an 11-pitch at-bat. Connor Norby's seventh-inning double and pinch-hitter Jesús Sánchez's single in the eighth were Miami's only other hits. The Marlins stranded nine base runners and went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Down 0-2 in the eighth, Sánchez hit a leadoff single against Spencer Bivens and advanced when Otto Lopez was hit by a pitch. Doval came in with two out and retired Norby on a flyout to end the threat. The Giants have gone 12 straight games without scoring more than four runs. Giants LHP Robbie Ray (7-0, 2.56 ERA) will start the middle game of the series against Marlins RHP Edward Cabrera (1-1, 4.73).

Peyton Manning hit a house with his tee shot, and Scottie Scheffler couldn't stop from laughing

Peyton Manning has endeared himself to fans across sports and pop culture with his willingness to make fun of himself and not take himself too seriously. But the Hall of Fame quarterback also shows his fallibility in unscripted moments, as demonstrated by a tee shot he took while playing in the Memorial Tournament pro-am in Dublin, Ohio. Anyone would probably look bad while paired with Scottie Scheffler, ranked No. 1 in the world and the recent PGA Championship winner. Even someone who's won two Super Bowl championships and five NFL MVP awards. Advertisement Playing with Scheffler on Wednesday, Manning showed that he's probably still very good at football but maybe not so much at golf. Or perhaps he was intimidated by the two-time Masters champion standing behind him as he teed off. Regardless of the reason, Manning knew immediately after swinging that his shot was in trouble, yelling "fore" a couple of times before we hear why he was justifiably concerned. The next sound heard on the video recorded is of Manning's ball hitting a house — loudly. Maybe it was the siding of the house that made such a resonant sound, but it sounded as if something had exploded. Without knowing exactly what the result was, it was enough to make Scheffler bend over in laughter. He acknowledged the huge noise by saying, "Good morning, sir," then added, "That's too much." Advertisement Maybe Scheffler just knew that Manning was embarrassed by hitting a house. Try to avoid hitting that rather large structure to the side of the fairway. Or perhaps Manning did actually cause some notable damage, which is why he began slowly stepping backward, as if he was Homer Simpson backing into the bushes in that famous meme. No word on whether any of the other celebrities playing in the pro-am — including Steph Curry, Nick Saban, Larry Fitzgerald, Ryan Day and Luke Bryan — also launched golf balls into nearby houses. Or perhaps they just didn't have anyone nearby recording video when they teed off. Advertisement Yet it may not have been nearly as funny if those guys had shanked an embarrassing shot, especially without the best golfer in the world in the background laughing at the result. None of those celebrities probably would have been taunted by their younger brothers on social media. Eli Manning wasn't going to let such an opportunity go by without comment. "I'm so proud," Eli said, likely echoing the sentiments of many who watched that video. TNT has not scheduled a 2025 edition of "The Match," but Manning and Scheffler created an excellent preview for the exhibition if organizers decide to move forward with an event.

2025 Rookie Stat Prediction: Ashton Jeanty

2025 Rookie Stat Prediction: Ashton Jeanty The Las Vegas Raiders made a tempo setting move when they took Memphis running back Ashton Jeanty at the top end of round one in the 2025 NFL Draft. A Heisman finalist and one of the best players in the country, Jeanty is a slam dunk for a team wanting to forge a new identity under head coach Pete Carroll. With Las Vegas boasting a new quarterback in Geno Smith who can put up the deep ball as well as anyone in the league, Jeanty should have plenty of opportunity with teams unable to load the box against him. Given Jeanty should be the easily number one back on the team, and that he should be the tempo setting engine that makes the offense move, he should see plenty of action throughout the season and be one of the leagues most productive backs. Given his skillset and the amount of opportunity he will get, expect Jeanty to be the heavy favorite for 'Offensive Rookie of the Year' as he should be one of the top producers at his position. Prediction: 1,300 rush yards, 550 receiving yards, 14 touchdowns
