Steelers name replacement for inside linebackers coach Aaron Curry
The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially named Scott McCurley as their new inside linebackers coach, replacing Aaron Curry, who was hired by the New York Jets last month.
A Western Pennsylvania native, McCurley brings a wealth of experience to the Steelers, having spent the last five seasons (2020-24) as the linebackers coach for the Dallas Cowboys. With 18 years in the NFL, including 15 in a coaching role, McCurley is well-equipped to elevate the Steelers' linebacker corps.
During his time with the Cowboys, McCurley played a role in the development of standout linebacker Micah Parsons, who recorded a team-high 12 sacks in 2023 and earned his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection. Under McCurley's guidance, Dallas linebackers contributed 22 of the team's 52 sacks last season. Additionally, linebacker Eric Kendricks posted a career-high 145 tackles despite missing two games due to injury.
Before his time in Dallas, McCurley worked in various roles over 13 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. In 2018, he helped coach the Packers' defense to rank eighth in the NFL in sacks.
McCurley's coaching expertise and his Pennsylvania roots make him a valuable addition to the Steelers' staff as they continue to strengthen their defensive unit for the upcoming season.

Ex-Steelers RB Najee Harris goes viral after being labeled a trade candidate
Ex-Steelers RB Najee Harris has been making headlines for trade-related reasons — despite signing with the Chargers less than four months ago. Harris was recently added to Bleacher Report's trade block big board — and here is what B/R's Kristopher Knox had to say about his inclusion on the list: "That said, Harris is on a one-year deal and may not be viewed as a long-term piece for L.A.," Knox said. "The Chargers also drafted Omarion Hampton with the No. 22 overall pick in April, and the North Carolina product might walk into an every-down role. "Teams in need of running back help would at least be wise to call about Harris' availability. While he was never a high-level starter with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was a dependable high-volume back who topped 1,000 rushing yards in all four campaigns." Knox then speculated that the Cowboys and the Steelers — yes, you read that right — would be potential trade fits. As absurd and unlikely as the Chargers trading away Harris in 2025 would be, Pittsburgh showing any interest in their former running back after letting him hit free agency might be the most hilarious trade prediction out there. Steelers legendary RB Jerome Bettis has one major concern about Aaron Rodgers
Jerome Bettis's excitement for Aaron Rodgers is matched only by one big concern — can the Steelers protect their their QB? In a recent one-on-one interview with CBS Sports, Bettis shared his thoughts — and his worries — about Rodgers in Pittsburgh: "I think the one big question that you have to ask yourself is, can you protect him?" Bettis said, via CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo. "I think that's going to be the number one priority for the Steelers … If you can protect him, then you can get all the value out of him and that position. If you can't protect him, then it doesn't matter who you put out there. You can play two young guys, it doesn't matter. You're going to get the same productivity. So I think the goal is to protect him. If you can protect him, then I think you get all the benefits of having a quality football player at the helm, at the quarterback position." OT Dan Moore Jr. — who left Pittsburgh for the Tennessee Titans this offseason — and Steelers OT Broderick Jones allowed the most combined sacks of any offensive tackle duo in the league last season. Jones was forced to play out of his natural position due to right tackle Troy Fautanu's season-ending injury but is set to return to left tackle in 2025. If the Steelers' offensive line can stay healthy, Bettis may have his Rodgers-related pass protection wish granted — as the four-time MVP prepares for his Steel City swan song. Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing After Todd Bowles' Contract Extension
Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing After Todd Bowles' Contract Extension originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced contract extensions Thursday morning for both general manager Jason Licht and head coach Todd Bowles. This comes on the heels of another successful year for the franchise. Advertisement Over the course of the last year, the Bucs have navigated multiple major coaching staff changes, maintained key veterans through free agency, drafted immediate contributors across the roster, and won the NFC South for a fourth straight season. Much of that credit belongs to both Bowles and Licht. Licht has been with the team since 201,4 and his track record made this an obvious move for the franchise. Alternatively, Bowles' future was not as secure with some questions about what any potential setbacks could mean for his future. Instead, the Bucs have taken a firm stance on how they view their head coach and his value for the coming years. The records have not been gaudy, but Bowles has kept the Bucs atop their division since taking over in 2022 and increased the team's win total by one each season. Last year, that success came despite having his roster ravaged with injury before spiriting wins in six of Tampa Bay's final seven games. Bowles' ability to navigate this adversity and keep the Bucs in the mix has been admirable. Advertisement However, this extension does come with an expectation for some changes over the next few years. The Bucs have invested heavily in their offense, signing Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to contract extensions each of the last two offseasons and re-signing Baker Mayfield a year ago. Defensively, they inked Antoine Winfield Jr. to an extension last year and have made a win-now gamble in signing pass rusher Haason Reddick a few months ago. Tampa Bay knows they have a window to capitalize on with this core. They have been a playoff participant thus far under Bowles; now, the goal is to transcend that status to become a firm contender within the conference. Especially last season, the Bucs showed flashes, notching wins against the best teams in the NFC. Moving forward, Bowles is tasked with putting it all together, allowing the Bucs to take that next step. Advertisement A loaded conference of established contenders makes that a daunting challenge, but the Bucs are counting on Bowles to be the guy who can bring them back to the top.
