77% of MoUs have come through, says minister Rajaa
The current DMK govt assumed power in 2021 and since then attracted 10.32 lakh crore worth of non-binding agreements for investing into the state, he said.
"Out of the 631 agreements signed during the GIM 2024, in 525 cases either project construction has begun or the company has bought land, which makes for a conversion rate of 80%," he told reporters.
Govt is keen on converting MoUs into investments and employment and conducts periodic meetings to monitor the progress and consider interventions. "The sectoral progress is also being monitored. We are seeing faster project development and capital deployment in TN's traditional sectors such as automobiles, heavy engineering and in areas such as electronics manufacturing. Some projects in the emerging sectors are showing moderate progress and govt is working to improve that," he said.

BHEL area declared ‘no drone zone' for two months
Bhopal: Police have declared the area surrounding Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in Bhopal a "no drone zone" for the next two months to prevent any potential aerial threats, authorities announced. Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra issued the order under Section 163(2) of the Indian Civil Defence Code 2023, mandating that permission from the police is now required to operate drones within the designated area. According to the official document, "The entire area of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Bhopal has been declared a 'no drone zone' to deal with aerial threats." BHEL, a prominent company in Bhopal known for manufacturing critical equipment, is the focus of this safety measure aimed at safeguarding the site from potential dangers originating from the sky. The two-month duration of the order allows the police time to assess the situation and determine whether an extension is necessary. The police emphasise the importance of adhering to the regulations to ensure public safety and prevent the misuse of drone technology. Violating the "no drone zone" mandate could result in legal consequences. Drones have become increasingly popular for recreational use and photography; however, their potential misuse poses security risks. By declaring BHEL a "no drone zone," the police are taking proactive steps to mitigate these risks and maintain the safety of the area, police said. Residents and drone operators planning to fly drones in Bhopal are advised to check whether their intended area falls within the "no drone zone" and obtain the necessary permissions from the police to avoid any legal issues. Execution of RRC: HC summons Bhopal collector in contempt case
Bhopal/Jabalpur: The MP high court has summoned Bhopal collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh on August 25 in connection with a contempt petition filed over non-compliance of the court order to execute the revenue recovery certificate (RRC)for recovery of Rs 70 lakh from a builder issued by Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Bhanu Pratap Singh from Gwalior in his contempt petition said that he had filed a petition in RERA for recovery from a Bhopal-based builder. RERA decided the case in his favour and issued a RRC of Rs 70 lakh. The RRC was to be executed through collector Bhopal but he didn't execute the RRC. Then, he moved the MP high court seeking direction to collector Bhopal to execute the RRC. The high court disposed of his petition with a direction to collector Bhopal to execute the RRC for recovery of the amount from the builder. However, the RRC has not been executed yet, thus bringing him back to court with a contempt petition. Following initial hearing, the bench of Justice Vishal Mishra directed the Bhopal collector to appear in the court in person to explain the reason for his non-compliance of the court order. Haryana set to come up with a blueprint for e-waste recycling hub
Gurgaon: The Haryana govt is working to develop a dedicated policy for electronic waste recycling to promote the establishment of an electronic waste recycling park or cluster in the state. Around 95% of the total e-waste generated in the country, which currently stands at approximately 1.75 million metric tonnes—an increase of 72% in the last five years—ends up in the informal sector, where it is disposed of in an unhealthy and unscientific manner. Only 43% of the total e-waste generated is recycled, leaving behind 57% of e-waste, which remains largely unprocessed. The proposed policy aims to address this challenge and turn it into an opportunity for the state to generate employment opportunities and foster skill development. In addition to this, the draft policy also proposes a fiscal incentive of up to Rs 45 crore . The park, which will come up over 10-25 acres of land, is also expected to receive a stamp duty subsidy ranging from 50% to 100%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The policy will help in the introduction of regulatory reforms for the e-waste recycling sector in the state, which will address the risks posed by improper disposal of e-waste. According to officials, the accumulation of e-waste poses a huge risk to the environment due to the presence of hazardous chemical elements such as lead, mercury, and sharp objects such as glass in it. It is, therefore, important to give a boost to its recycling infrastructure, they said. "The govt of Haryana aims to create an environment-conscious electronics waste recycling ecosystem and simultaneously position Haryana as a frontrunner in the recycling of electronic products," said an official of the industry department. Moreover, to generate employment opportunities, the draft policy offers a subsidy of Rs 48,000 per local employee and Rs 60,000 per local woman employee for direct employment on the payroll with valid ESI or PF and a total monthly salary of up to Rs 40,000 per month. The draft policy also proposes to develop a dedicated portal for recyclers and sellers for the collection of electronic waste from consumers and producers.
