Dhanda joins Dundee after 'seven times a day' Murray calls
"He was someone that was great to play with and he's one of my favourite players that I've played with. But we are also really good friends off the pitch and, when he wanted to get me here, I trusted him because he spoke so highly of the place."Former Hearts captain Steven Pressley has had a frustrating start to his time as Dundee head coach, failing to qualify from their League Cup group and admitting a struggle to recruit this summer. However, Dhanda said Murray "spoke highly of the place" and revealed: "Simon was onto me quite a lot, saying people at Dundee really like you and I was just wanting to play football and get consistent game time. "Simon has been phoning me at least seven times a day and has been on my case for quite a while. Especially in the last couple of days, he's been phoning me a lot, making sure I come here."When I heard so many good things and what the manager is trying to do, I was desperate to come here and to start playing."The manager phoned me and told me where I fit into his plans and the systems he is going to play. The chat went really well and from there it all happened quite quickly.Dhanda's debut will be delayed until Dundee's match against Kilmarnock on 23 August as he is currently serving a two-match suspension.

Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi to start for Crystal Palace on Thursday amid increased transfer interest
liver Glasner has confirmed that key Crystal Palace players Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi will both start Thursday night's Conference League play-off first leg against Fredrikstad, despite persistent transfer speculation linking them with moves away from Selhurst Park. Eze, a target for Tottenham, and Guehi, reportedly on Liverpool's radar, trained with the squad in Beckenham on Wednesday morning. Glasner was unequivocal about his expectations for players under contract, dismissing suggestions that their commitment might waver amidst the rumours. "It's always the right of a club and the duty of a player to give 100 per cent as long as he is under contract," Glasner stated. He expressed surprise at the media's focus on their potential departures, particularly after their strong performance in the recent draw against Chelsea. "Before Chelsea, I think many of you were surprised that Marc and Ebs started and played almost the whole game," he added. "Most of you will be surprised that they will start again tomorrow because of all the rumours. But again, they are committed. They are committed to the team, they have a contract here, they played a crucial part that we could be so successful, and they will play a crucial part as long as they are here." Glasner emphasised his belief that both players would maintain their professionalism. "Because they are good, they are committed to the team, and when one of the players leave, which I don't know at the moment, then they want to leave as players who always gave 100 per cent for Crystal Palace. This is what they did since they signed, and this is what we expect from them until the end of their contract, whenever this is." Guehi's contract with Palace runs until next summer, while Eze's deal extends to 2027. A release clause in Eze's contract, reportedly around £68million, expired last Friday. Despite further discussions on Saturday, the England international featured for 84 minutes in the weekend's match against Chelsea. Glasner reiterated that the ongoing transfer noise is not a distraction within the squad. "We are not talking every day to Marc and Ebs and also not kneeling down and saying 'oh, thank you that you arrived today'," he explained. "No, we expect it, and they worked hard in training, before the training, after the training, professional, and that's why it's not a big issue here. Of course we know things can always happen. The window is not closed, but we really – and this is a credit to the players, to the group – they are always focused on what we have to do in our games." Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson echoed his manager's sentiments, praising his teammates' dedication. "I think the pair of them are great lads. They're so committed and so professional. It showed at Chelsea, getting to work, they were both phenomenal," Henderson said. "I'm sure they will stay committed throughout and they're always here to help the team. They're part of us at the minute, so we will keep enjoying them."

Dundee boss Steven Pressley expects new arrivals at Dens Park
Steven Pressley is optimistic he will soon be able to strengthen his Dundee squad after suffering an injury blow. Midfielder Paul Digby faces up to six weeks out but Pressley expects new additions after Saturday's William Hill Premiership encounter at Kilmarnock. On his transfer business, Pressley said: 'It's highly unlikely to happen before the weekend but we have a couple of targets we are very close on that we believe will happen. 'One of them being a midfielder that we think will come in early next week. Both ourselves and the club want it to happen, the player wants it to happen, it's just a matter of timing. 'And we have also not got an agreement in place with a club, but we believe we are getting close to that, for a player in another position. 'I think it will make a big difference. Competition for places creates consistency of performance. I want players to be under pressure to keep their positions. That type of environment breeds success. 'I don't want too big a squad, I want a squad of players that are very much manageable and feel part of it, but I want them to be breathing down each other's shoulders to be playing.' Digby has been an ever-present since joining from Cambridge and played the full game as Dundee drew at Ibrox last time out. Pressley said: 'Paul Digby, who played exceptionally well against Rangers and has been a pivotal player, has a calf injury. It could be anything up to five, six weeks before we see him return. So that's a big blow.' Get all the latest news from around the country Follow STV News Scan the QR code on your mobile device for all the latest news from around the country

Charlotte transferring D Adilson Malanda to Middlesbrough
August 20 - Charlotte FC announced the transfer of defender Adilson Malanda to English second-tier side Middlesbrough FC on Wednesday. The 23-year-old French center back will stay on loan at Charlotte for the remainder of the MLS season before departing for a reported $8 million fee plus add-ons. "Adilson has been a true professional since stepping foot in Charlotte and throughout this process where we worked together to get a deal that worked for both the club and the player," general manager Zoran Krneta said. "There were multiple top clubs that sent us strong offers for Adi, but in the end, this option allowed us to keep him through the end of the season as we push for the top four. His career path shows that Charlotte FC is the right place for young players to come and develop into sought-after players from clubs all around the world." Malanda has recorded two goals and two assists in 107 appearances across all competitions since joining Charlotte from Ligue 2 side Rodez AF in August 2022. --Field Level Media
