Fazzrudin, New FAS President
Fazzrudin who takes over from Abang Zulkarnain Abang Abdul Rahman, will hold the position for the 2025-2027 term.
Fazzrudin, who is also the chief political secretary to the Sarawak Premier, won uncontested following the withdrawal of another candidate, Dr Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, at the last minute.

Met with reporters after the meeting, Fazzrudin said that among his main agenda as FAS president is to bring football to the grassroots level by organising the Sarawak Premier League.
He said the league would involve teams representing parts of Sarawak and it would be an annual event.
"If the quality of the league is good, then we hope it can produce more quality players who may be approached by teams in the Malaysian League or overseas leagues. We want to see football players from Sarawak being able to play at a higher level.
"I hope we can start this league by September at the latest as it may take three months," he said.
At the same meeting, the position of FAS deputy president was also won unopposed by Datuk Hamzah Brahim.

Aaron calls for inclusion of rising pairs in SEA Games squad
KUALA LUMPUR: National men's doubles player Aaron Chia has urged the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to consider sending two up-and-coming pairs to the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Aaron said the inclusion of Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King and Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri would benefit the team. "I think BAM should send elite back-up pairs like Arif-Roy King and Hon Jian-Haikal. This is their chance (to bring home SEA Games medals)," he said recently. BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh said late last year that the national badminton body was expected to send its best players to the SEA Games in December. Malaysia last won a gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, but only managed two silvers and four bronzes at the 2023 edition in Phnom Penh. Aaron, who pairs with Soh Wooi Yik, previously won the men's doubles gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines. Last week, world No. 22 Arif-Roy King clinched their first BWF World Tour title at the Macau Open. They stunned top seeds Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani of Indonesia, 22-20, 21-18. World No. 43 Hon Jian-Haikal have been plagued by injuries this season but have won three titles. These were the 2023 Syed Modi International and Guwahati Masters in India, and the Orleans Masters in France last year. Sea Deaf Games 2025: Malaysia target 16 gold medals in Jakarta
KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Malaysia will send the country's second-largest contingent to the Southeast Asian (SEA) Deaf Games 2025 in Jakarta, from Aug 20 to 26, with the mission of winning 16 gold medals and retaining the title clinched at the inaugural edition in Kuala Lumpur in 2022. Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf) president Ong Shin Ruenn said the target comprises six gold medals in athletics, five in tenpin bowling, two in badminton, two in chess, and one in the men's futsal event. '... for the SEA Deaf Games 2025 in Jakarta, we hope the government can consider awarding cash incentives to players similar to those given to able-bodied athletes, especially in conjunction with National Day, if our athletes bring home medals for Malaysia. 'Our athletes have previously received rewards, such as at the Deaflympics, but the money was regarded as a token and not an incentive,' he said through a sign language interpreter after the press conference for the tournament here today. At the same time, Shin Ruenn expressed his hope that one day the deaf community in Malaysia would have a dedicated building equipped with centralised training facilities. He believes such a training centre would not only enhance the performance of athletes but also serve as a symbol of ongoing support for the development of sports in the deaf community in Malaysia. A total of 80 athletes will carry the nation's challenge this time, only 20 fewer than the host Indonesia's largest contingent of 100 athletes. Overall, Malaysia's contingent consists of 27 officlials and 53 athletes, who will compete in six sports - futsal, athletics, badminton, tenpin bowling, chess, and table tennis. Wushu star Cheong Min dedicates historic World Games gold to nation
KUALA LUMPUR: Wushu star Tan Cheong Min has dedicated her historic World Games gold medal to the nation as a Merdeka Day gift. Cheong Min struck gold in Chengdu on Saturday in the women's nandao (broadsword) — the first time wushu has been contested as an official event at the World Games. "This gold medal is not just for me. It is for Malaysia and a gift for this year's Merdeka Day," said the Melaka-born athlete. "Previously, wushu wasn't an official World Games event, so the Asian Games and World Championships were our highest platforms. I am very proud and happy." The former world champion hopes her victory will inspire other athletes to push for excellence and further raise the sport's profile. Her win lifted Malaysia's medal tally at the Chengdu Games to three — one gold, one silver and one bronze.
