South Park faces major question in bitter battle over $900,000,000 deal
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are threatening legal action as talks over its future rumble on.
The future of the long running animated series is yet to be decided, with the end of its Paramount deal and talks with other streamers.
Negotiations are ongoing to see where the iconic and controversial show will land, with Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery in the running.
However, Jeff Shell – who will become president of Paramount if its merger with Skydance goes through – has now been accused of interfering in contract negotiations.
According to a letter seen by The Hollywood Reporter, Parker and Stone's Park County entertainment company has threatened legal action.
An attorney for the duo has accused Shell of trying to get Netflix and WBD to alter certain details in their offer in a 'manner calculated to benefit Paramount at the expense' of the company.
One accusation includes Shell allegedly trying to get WBD to give Paramount+ an exclusive 12-month window for new South Park episodes, with a five-year deal rather than 10, which could lessen its value amid talks.
In the letter, the attorney says: 'We hereby demand that you, Redbird, and Skydance immediately cease your interference.
'If these activities continue, we will have no choice but to act to both protect our rights and discharge any obligations we may have to the public.'
However, a Skydance spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement: 'Under the terms of the transaction agreement, Skydance has the right to approve material contracts.'

As it stands, there are two years left on Paramount's $900million deal, and there are talks to extend that to bring South Park to Paramount+.
Paramount, Parker and Stone all operate South Park Digital Studios, which is the owner of the show's streaming rights.
This structure has caused issues with negotiations, along with Skydance awaiting approval for its acquisition of Paramount.
Until the merger is official, the firm cannot take control or issue directives, due to federal antitrust laws.
Afshin Beyzaee, general counsel at Park County, is said to have written in the letter to Shell: 'You did this behind Park County's back. 'That self-dealing would have been absolutely restricted if it were done by Paramount itself.
'So, it is simply outrageous that even before it has been granted the authority to close the merger with Paramount, Redbird and Skydance are jumping the gun and using confidential information of SPDS to purport to make demands on behalf of SPDS that even Paramount has no right to make.'
The South Park Digital Studios board of managers includes Paramount's Comedy Partners, which has limited rights to act. More Trending
Park County has argued that Shell 'had no right or authority to be demanding that SPDS's prospective counterparties make modifications to their proposals, especially modifications that would depress the value of their proposals'.

Who is Addison Rae? How TikTok fame led to one of the year's biggest pop albums
Addison Rae has recently transitioned from Internet stardom to full-blown mainstream pop royalty. After racking up a following of more than 88million on TikTok, Addison has recently transitioned to music, releasing her debut album, Addison, to critical acclaim earlier this month. As a result, she's been tapped to open for Lana Del Rey on her upcoming tour and has even announced a headline tour, much to the delight of her quickly growing legion of fans. Her recent Los Angeles hometown show attracted more than 100,000 fans in the ticketing queue for a venue that holds just 2,300 people, revealing a massive demand for the social media star-turned pop diva. Previously, she was named the highest-earning creator on TikTok, ahead of Charli, with Forbes estimating that she earned $5million (£3.5m) in 2020. Addison – full name Addison Rae Easterling – was a competitive dancer from a young age, before she started posting dance videos on TikTok when it first gained popularity in 2020. Ambitious and driven, she sometimes shared up to eight videos a day as she built a larger and larger following. At time of writing, she has nearly 90million followers on TikTok. She's also an actor, businessperson, podcaster, and breakout pop superstar. Jeff Bezos's foam party proves all the money in the world can't buy taste
I haven't been able to stop looking at the photos of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez frolicking in the suds of their foam party on board his superyacht, reportedly worth $500m. The pair were spotted getting soapy with some friends as they kicked off their pre-wedding celebrations this week – and honestly, I'm obsessed. Not because I'm envious. Far from it. I can't stop thinking about it because it's just so… crap? Bezos is the third richest man in the world. A man whose upcoming Venice wedding is speculated to be costing upwards of $10m. A man who can, at the snap of his fingers, get arguably anything he wants. A man who could recreate one of Studio 54's legendary parties on board his boat if he wanted to. And he throws a foam party? As you can imagine, it was slightly different to this one, and to be honest, I'm sure there are more fun iterations out there (Bezos's isn't one of them). I was 18, at a caravan site in the South of France, and the DJ was cranking the 2010s tunes in the terrace area of the campsite's bar. An area was cordoned off with traffic cones and tape, and a man positioned in the corner with a leaf-blower sent mountains of froth our way. I – perhaps like Bezos and Sanchez – was expecting uproarious fun, but it didn't take me long to realise that really, foam parties are quite rubbish. Once you're in it, it's a 'what do we do now?' situation. The floors are slippery, it's cold, it's wet, it's surprisingly smelly and it doesn't take long for bubbles to end up in your drink. I assumed this was a teenage milestone we all passed, realised was actually pretty embarrassing, and moved past. But apparently not. To be fair to Jeff and Lauren, it does seem like the foam was part of Lauren's son Evan's 19th birthday celebrations. But, I still have to ask, can a billionaire not provide better fun for his soon-to-be step-son? Maybe Evan asked. Maybe Lauren and Jeff missed that rite of passage in their youths and never had the displeasure of attending a foam party. Maybe this is their manifested yearning for a 'normal' experience. Either way, no amount of money will ever make foam parties fun. And it looks even more awkward given how sparse the attendance is. One photo shows just a handful of people soaking it up. My favourite pic is the one of the couple standing still in the middle of the bubbles, looking bemused about what they should do next. Because that's exactly how everyone who's ever been to a foam party feels. At least guests of this soiree could dive off the sides of the dancefloor and find reprieve in the waters of the Adriatic Sea. More Trending But it's left me wondering, if this is the kind of organised fun Bezos lines up in the days before his wedding, what else do we have in store? Bingo on board a Blue Origin spaceflight , musical statues in Piazza San Marco, or pass the parcel with millions of dollars between each layer?
