Rains lashed several parts of Delhi on Friday, with the weather department issuing a 'yellow alert' for the national capital.
A 'yellow alert', in the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) colour code, indicates 'be aware'. The IMD has advised residents to stay alert due to changing weather conditions.
In its latest nowcast, the weather department said that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 30-50 km/h is very likely to occur at many places in Delhi and the NCR region in the coming hours.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is likely to settle around 35 degrees. The relative humidity was 80 per cent at 8.30 am.
The air quality in Delhi remained in the "satisfactory" category with an air quality index (AQI) reading of 61, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) 9 am bulletin.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 to 100 "satisfactory", 101 to 200 "moderate", 201 to 300 "poor", 301 to 400 "very poor", and 401 to 500 "severe".

Heavy rainfall likely over western ghats till July 22; parts of north TN may get respite from heat
Intense rainfall, driven by two active weather systems, is expected to continue over Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu till July 22. Intense downpour in Kerala would spill over into the adjoining western ghats region. The intensity of rainfall in north TN districts would vary depending on the position of the weather systems. In coastal belt, prevailing westerlies when interacting with sea breeze triggered convective activity and thunderstorms during afternoon and evening hours. The wet weather is likely to influence a drop in maximum temperature in a few pockets of TN and Puducherry, she said. However, interior parts like Madurai and Karur may have to endure scorching heat as the impact of weather systems may not penetrate. On Friday, Madurai and Thanjavur recorded a day temperature of 39 degree Celsius, which was the hottest temperature recorded in TN for the day. Chennai, however, recorded a cooler day with maximum temperature remaining slightly below normal of 34 degrees Celsius. Rainfall continued in places, including Coimbatore, Valparai, Krishnagiri and Erode on Friday. The RMC has forecast light to moderate rainfall to continue in Chennai on Saturday and the maximum temperature will be around 35-36 degree Celsius.

Only scattered showers in city's lot as it waits for spells to work
Bhopal: Showers continued in Bhopal, but the city was yet to witness long spells of heavy rainfall, like other parts of the state. The temperature below the normal mark in the city kept the weather pleasant. In the forecast for Bhopal on Saturday, the meteorological dept stated there would be a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain during the afternoon and evening hours. Day and night temperatures would be respectively 29 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. In the forecast for the state, Met issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning for Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, and Morena. A warning of very heavy rainfall existed for Rajgarh, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari districts.

Monsoon to gain pace from tomorrow: IMD
Patna: The monsoon is expected to remain subdued on Saturday, with no rainfall anticipated in most of the regions. However, it is likely to regain momentum across the state from Sunday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated light rainfall in parts of the northern districts of the state on Saturday. An alert of thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning activity, has been issued by the IMD for all the districts on Sunday. Heavy rain alert has also been issued for Kishanganj and Araria. Scattered rainfall is likely to occur in the northern and eastern districts of the state, whereas the southern districts are expected to receive isolated rainfall on Sunday. Maximum temperatures in most parts of the state are likely to rise by one to three degrees Celsius in the next two days, and fall thereafter. The minimum temperature is also likely to increase by one to three degrees Celsius within the next three to four days. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 34-36 degrees Celsius across the state for the next two days, whereas the minimum temperature is likely to range between 26-28 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, considering the rising water levels in the Falgu and Dhadha and Ganga rivers, the district administration has hired a total of 245 boatmen on a contractual basis to ensure the availability of local support for rescue and relief operations in case of an emergency. Additionally, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at Gai Ghat, Patna City and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Didarganj has been deployed and sent to the areas concerned for relief and rescue operations as per necessity.
