IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Can India fight back vs England in Edgbaston, or will rain disrupt their plans?
With England leading the five-match series 1-0, the Men in Blue will be desperate to bounce back and avoid falling further behind. However, they may be without the services of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is expected to play only three matches in the series to manage his workload.

ENG vs IND: Will it rain in 2nd Test?
As India look to level the series in the second Test against England, weather in Birmingham might prove just as challenging as the English batting lineup. According to AccuWeather, Edgbaston's skies aren't offering full sunshine across the five days. Here's what the forecast says:
July 2 (Wednesday): Expect a stop-start opening day, with cooler temperatures, thick cloud cover, and a chance of thunderstorms. A delayed or interrupted start seems likely.
July 3 (Thursday): Conditions brighten up with some sunshine and warmer weather - shaping up to be the best day for uninterrupted cricket.
July 4 (Friday): Temperatures remain high, but increasing cloud cover later in the day could be a factor.
July 5 (Saturday): Light morning showers are possible under continued cloudy skies. Another day where rain interruptions can't be ruled out.
July 6 (Sunday): The final day is forecast to be the gloomiest, with heavy cloud and patchy rain threatening to cut into playtime once again.
With both teams eyeing crucial moments in the series, the weather might just become the unpredictable third player on the field.

Shubman Gill Ends Suspense On Jasprit Bumrah For India vs England 2nd Test: "He Is..."
Shubman Gill, Indian cricket team captain, has ended the suspense over the availability of Jasprit Bumrah for the second Test starting in Birmingham on Wednesday. Bumrah was India's best bowler in the 1st India vs England Test. After the conclusion of the series opener, head coach Gautam Gambhir declared that the management would not budge on Bumrah's three-match utilisation. There were recommendations from fans and former cricketers to use Bumrah in all five Tests, but Gambhir quickly turned down the suggestion, claiming they were more concerned about his workload. Now, Gill has said that a call on the final combination will be taken after the final practice session. 'Bumrah is surely available. We have to look into this workload management. We have to look into the final combination today at the nets,' Gill told reporters on the pre-match press conference on Tuesday. "We knew prior to the series that we would get Jasprit for three games, but we had that sorted beforehand. Yes, obviously we would miss him, but we have our plans sorted.' Earlier, India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate addressed the concerns about Bumrah and declared that he is "available" but the management is yet to make a call on whether to send him to the on-field action or not. "Yeah, he's available for the game, obviously. We know from the start he's only going to play three out of the five. He's obviously had eight days to recover from the last Test. But given conditions and workload and how we think we can best manage for the next four games, we haven't made a call on that. We're going to see what the other guys are with their workload as well. So technically, yes, he's available. But we haven't made a decision on whether he's going to play or not yet," Doeschate told reporters in a press conference. India lined up with its pace spearhead, Bumrah, in the series opener at Headingley but still ended on the wrong side of the result. He dazzled in the first innings with figures of 5/83 but lost his magic and returned wicketless in the second. With Bumrah's threat vanished into thin air, England trounced India by gunning down a 371-run target, their second-highest successful chase in the format.

Gautam Gambhir's Future As India Coach Under Scrutiny Over England Series? Ex-Star Says: "BCCI Will Slowly..."
Former England spinner Monty Panesar has pointed out important concerns regarding Gautam Gambhir 's tenure as India head coach, citing the team's issues, with bowling as the primary reason behind the increasing doubt on his role. India will be hoping to level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in the second Test against England at the Edgbaston Stadium starting July 2. All eyes will be on the Shubman Gill -led side after they lost the first Test despite holding much of the advantage after the first innings. In the five-wicket loss, India became the first team to lose a Test despite having five batters score hundreds. In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Panesar spoke on the importance of picking a bowling lineup that can deliver in England. "The problem is that if Gautam has the ability to make his team into a good batting unit, he then needs to show the ability can make the team into a good bowling unit. Fans are going to troll. They're going to come after Gautam Gambhir. When India were 400 plus, India should have won the Test match. But the question is, 'Is Gautam Gambhir a good coach to make the bowling good? Does he have the ability? ' He needs to show that. 'He needs to now think, right, I know how to get the batting to fire, but as a coach, can I pick the team to take 20 wickets? That's his biggest challenge right now in England, and if he is not able to demonstrate that, then I think the BCCI will slowly, Test by Test match, assess him, and they'll just think, you know, what should we do after the end of the series? His biggest challenge is going to be to pick the right attack for every venue to take 20 wickets,' Panesar told IANS. The former left-handed opening batter was appointed as India's head coach following Rahul Dravid 's departure. Since his appointment, India have won only three of their 11 Tests played - 2-0 win vs Bangladesh and 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy - which also led to India falling out of the top two in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. When asked to predict the conditions at Edgbaston, Panesar revealed he expects it to be a turning wicket which will help Kuldeep Yadav or Washington Sundar, with the former England cricketer advising team India to bring in one of these two as the frontline spinners. 'It's going to be a turning wicket. Edgbaston is dry. We won't see much grass from the wicket. I think it will help India. The Edgbaston wicket will suit India. India just need to work out, right? Batting isn't the problem. It's bowling. We need to take 20 wickets to win a Test match. That's the most important thing, and Shubhman Gill did say, 'I will pick 5-4 tailenders, but an attack that can take 20 wickets.' 'From that point of view, I think Prasidh Krishna bowls too short, maybe give him a rest. Bumrah, I think, will rest anyway. Kuldeep Yadav comes in, or Washington Sundar, one of the other, to play an extra spinner. Ashdeep Singh has to play. Left arm seam, I think that will cause problems for the England team. Then, they have Mohammed Siraj, maybe Shardul Thakur could play,' he added.

IND vs ENG: 'If Jasprit Bumrah isn't playing, then it should be ...' - Irfan Pathan makes bold claim ahead of Edgbaston Test
Team India bowling coach Morne Morkel (center) with pacers Akash Deep (left) and Arshdeep Singh in training (Screengrabs via X/@BCCI) With doubts over Jasprit Bumrah 's availability for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has backed Akash Deep as a strong replacement. India may rest Bumrah to manage his workload over the five-match series. Pathan believes Akash Deep's bowling style could suit English conditions well. 'If Bumrah is not there, then who should come into the side in his place? Akash Deep, from what's been seen in the nets, seems to be getting into his rhythm. I feel that he is the Shami mould type of bowler,' Pathan said on his YouTube channel. In the first Test at Headingley, India lost by five wickets. Despite hundreds from Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, England chased down a big target of 371 runs. Among bowlers, Bumrah was the only Indian bowler who looked in control and unsurprisingly claimed the joint-most wickets for the visitors in the first Test. His supporting cast, however, struggled to apply pressure on England's batters. Ryan ten Doeschate press conference: On Bumrah fitness, drops Big Playing XI hint, 2 spinners Pathan explained that Akash Deep could offer more control because of his focus on seam and swing. 'It is, but we also feel we can go 1-1 or keep the score at 1-0 without Jasprit. Again, that's putting the eggs in the back end of the series. We're going to need him at some stage as well. You've got to decide when you're going to play your strongest suit,' ten Doeschate said. A final decision on Bumrah's selection is expected to be made on the day of the match.
