Spider-Man's new suit has hidden details fans have decoded: Is Tom Holland channelling the OG spideys in Brand New Day teaser?

Indian Express3 days ago
Tom Holland has finally given a peek inside his new Spidey costume, and it looks like we're getting some legendary vibes back. After teasing the makeover on August 1, celebrating National Spider-Man Day, the actor dropped the full look Saturday morning, not just with a glimpse, but a short video. The reveal landed just hours after Holland opened up about taking a break from acting. The actor in recent years has spoken candidly about prioritising mental health, stepping back from social media, and even quitting drinking.

Holland posted a short video where he steps out of the shadows in his new Spider-Man: Brand New Day costume and says, 'We ready?' Fans instantly noticed that the suit has brighter red and blue tones and a noticeably larger spider logo across his chest. This is a big change from the suits we saw in Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. In no time, the internet was talking about how this new version looks more like the classic suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Holland's upcoming film already seems to have landed in the good books of Spidey fans, thanks to the costume giving off some serious OG vibes.

This is Holland's fourth Spider-Man solo film, set to release on July 31, 2026. According to the description, the movie has already entered production, with shooting underway in England. It picks up right after No Way Home, where Peter Parker erased himself from everyone's memory to save the multiverse. In doing so, he was even forced to wipe the memories of his girlfriend MJ (played by Zendaya), best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), and even the Avengers. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) had also died in the last movie. Jon Bernthal is set to return as the Punisher/Frank Castle. Meanwhile, as per THR, Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk/Bruce Banner, alongside Michael Mando as Scorpion, who first showed up in 2017's Homecoming.

The movie is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang Chi. The script comes from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the same duo behind No Way Home. While the official plot and synopsis of the upcoming Spider-Man film haven't been revealed yet, going by the Brand New Day comics, Peter Parker ends up striking a deal with Mephisto (basically Marvel's devil) to save Aunt May. But in return, the world forgets his identity, and his marriage to MJ gets wiped along. Whether or not the film will follow this exact arc is still up in the air, but early theories hint at more of a fresh start. Holland himself teased it during CinemaCon earlier this year, saying: 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It's exactly that. That's all I can say.' Sadie Sink, of Stranger Things fame, and Liza Colón-Zayas are also stepping into the MCU with this film, though what roles they're playing is still under wraps.
Earlier speaking to British GQ, Holland said, he feels 'really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go.' The 29-year-old continued: 'You can't be in every movie, and you can't do your best work when you're burnt out. What I've learnt is that it's important to set boundaries, to be mindful about overworking.'

Pedro Pascal Dating History: Lena Headey to Robin Tunney, A Deep Dive into Actor's Low-Key Relationships

Pedro Pascal is the new heartthrob of the industry, impressing the audience with his brilliant performances on-screen. While the actor has been quite open about his work, the same cannot be said for his personal life. Pascal has kept his love life private and out of the spotlight. Recently, the Marvel star made headlines for being romantically involved with the Friends actress, Jennifer Aniston. However, a source close to the actor clarified that the duo are just friends who grabbed dinner together. Pedro Pascal's dating history During the initial days of his career, Pedro Pascal was linked with Maria Dizzia. After the duo starred together in one of the episodes of Law & Order in the late 90s, a source confirmed that they were linked romantically. While none of the actors confirmed their relationship in public, the media reports claimed that the attraction between the pair quickly fizzled out. Dizzia was later reported to date British playwright Will Eno. For the longest time, there were no reports or rumors about Pedro Pascal's dating life. In 2014, the movie star was reportedly dating his Game of Thrones co-star, Lena Headey. The fans speculated about a romance between the two after the actress shared a picture with Pascal on her Instagram account, with the caption, "Sunshine love." However, the actor later cleared the air over her bond with Headey, as he said, 'Lena is one of my [favorite people]... She is so funny and so smart, such a good person, a good friend and a good mother.' He added, "I think everyone on that set and anyone who comes in contact with her develops an instant crush. Talk about male or female, you're going to get a crush on her easy.' A year later, Pascal was yet again in the news for allegedly being in a relationship with Robin Tunney. The pair was often seen attending events together, and Pascal went on to star in one of the episodes of Tunney's show, The Mentalist. The relationship soon happened to fizzle out as the actress announced her engagement to Nick Marmet.

Mahavatar Narasimha Box Office: Becomes first ever animated film to gross 100 crore in India

Mahavatar Narasimha made history yesterday, becoming the first-ever animated film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark in India. The film added a strong Rs. 7.25 crore approx on its second Monday, taking its eleven-day total to Rs. 102.25 crore. Just this past Friday, it dethroned Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to emerge as the highest-grossing animated film ever in the country. The film barely dropped from its Friday of Rs. 8 crore, which is a fantastic hold, given animation films generally play stronger over weekends and ease off on weekdays. The film has collected Rs. 54.25 crore in four days of the second week, already crossing its first-week haul. The full week should get near Rs. 75 crore, which would push it above Rs. 120 crore by Thursday. The film has a shot at going over Rs. 200 crore, though that may depend on how well it sustains after Independence Day biggies, War 2 and Coolie. The Day Wise Box Office Collections of Mahavatar Narasimha are as follows: Mahavatar Narasimha has found a pan-India audience with healthy contributions from dubbed versions in South India. The language-wise breakdown as of now stands at: Rs. 76.50 crore from Hindi, Rs. 22 crore from Telugu, Rs. 2.50 crore from Kannada, and Rs. 1.25 crore combined from Tamil and Malayalam. Globally, animation is one of the most bankable genres, delivering some of the highest-grossing films of all time. Just this year, Chinese animation Ne Zha 2 obliterated box office records in the country, grossing over USD 2 billion. In several countries, animation is the most popular genre for movie-going. However, in India, it has very few takers. The genre is often looked down on as 'kids cinema', and in India, kids don't drive the box office. The religious animation does have some appeal, but except for Punjabi film Chaar Sahibzade, nothing has found the success, that is, until now. Mahavatar Narasimha is the first in the announced cinematic universe of seven films. The hope is that this film and franchise will break the stigma and unlock the massive potential of animation that has already delivered blockbusters worldwide. NOTE: The aforementioned box office numbers do not include 3D charges. Including 3D charges, Mahavatar Narasimha has grossed Rs. 113 crore approx in India.

Park Chan Wook's 'No Other Choice' to open 30th Busan International Film Festival

Park Chan Wook's 'No Other Choice' to open 30th Busan International Film Festival The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has selected critically acclaimed director Park Chan-Wook's 'No Other Choice' as its opening film, reported Variety. It will mark the return of Park Chan to the big screens three years after 'Decision to Leave', for which he won best director at Cannes. According to the outlet, the film stars 'Squid Game' actor Lee Byung-hun in the lead role. He plays the role of Man-su, a man whose comfortable life unravels when he's suddenly dismissed from his job, forcing him into a desperate struggle to protect his wife Miri (Son Yejin), their two children, and their home, reported Variety. The story follows Man-su as he embarks on what the festival describes as "his own war of survival." Lee, who will also serve as host of this year's opening ceremony, teams up with Son Yejin for their first on-screen pairing as a married couple. The cast also includes Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won. Park described the project as a "long-awaited passion project" at BIFF 2019, and the film will receive its Asian premiere in Busan, following its world premiere at Venice, as reported by Variety. "I am deeply moved and excited to experience the premiere of Park Chan-wook's desired project alongside diverse audiences on the festival's opening day," said BIFF festival director Jung Hanseok. "I sincerely hope that its selection will build meaningful momentum to garner greater attention and foster renewed interest in Korean cinema," added Jung as quoted by Variety. The selection comes at a significant moment for Korean cinema, with BIFF positioning the film as one that "embodies what audiences most hope to see" and can "reinvigorate Korean cinema at this pivotal moment." Park made his directorial debut with 'The Moon Is... the Sun's Dream' (1992) and went on to create groundbreaking works including 'Joint Security Area' (2000), the Vengeance trilogy ('Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance,' 'Oldboy,' 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'), 'Thirst' (2009), 'The Handmaiden' (2016), and 'Decision to Leave' (2022). The director has been invited to the Cannes competition section four times and has been honoured with the Grand Prix, Prix du Jury, and Prix de la mise en scene, making him the first Korean director to achieve all three distinctions, reported Variety. The 30th Busan International Film Festival will run from September 17 to September 26.
