Robertson wins Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters title
Robertson took control early, building a 6-2 lead after the first session. He extended the advantage to 7-2 in the second session and appeared firmly in command.
O'Sullivan, who had made two 147 maximum breaks the previous day, rallied with five straight frames featuring breaks of more than 50 to level the match at 7-7.
Robertson responded in the 15th frame with a break of 75 to regain the lead, but O'Sullivan captured the next two frames to move 9-8 ahead and reach match point.
Refusing to concede, Robertson fired a century break to force a decider. In the final frame, he capitalized on an O'Sullivan error to seal the victory.
"I have had to answer a lot of questions like whether I can still beat someone like Ronnie in a final of this magnitude. To beat him here with so much on the line, it's my best win," Robertson said after the match.
The victory marked Robertson's 26th career ranking title, tying Mark Williams for sixth on the all-time list. Along with the 500,000 pounds (about 677,000 U.S. dollars) winner's prize, the Australian also rose to world No. 3 in the rankings.

Captain Wilson scores twice as Australia stun South Africa
JOHANNESBURG: Australia's loose forward Nick Champion de Crespigny ( C ) slips as he runs with the ball during the Rugby Championship first round Test match between South Africa and Australia at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg. – AFP JOHANNESBURG: Captain and No 8 Harry Wilson scored two tries as Australia staged a remarkable comeback to stun South Africa 38-22 in the 2025 Rugby Championship opener in Johannesburg on Saturday. Trailing by 22 points after 19 minutes, the Wallabies scored 38 unanswered points for a first victory over the Springboks in the South African economic capital since 1963. Backs Dylan Pietsch, Joseph Aukuso-Suaalii, Max Jorgensen and Tom Wright were the other Australian try scorers and veteran James O'Connor converted four. Kurt-Lee Arendse, Andre Esterhuizen and captain Siya Kolisi crossed the line for the defending champions. Manie Libbok converted twice and slotted a penalty. Record four-time Rugby World Cup winners South Africa were unstoppable in the early stages on a grey evening at Ellis Park with scrum-half Grant Williams playing a key role. His perfectly weighted box kicks allowed the Springboks to establish an aerial advantage and the power of the forwards had the visitors reeling. When Kolisi crossed for the third try it was hard to imagine what was to follow in the first game of the southern hemisphere championship. The first hint that a stunning revival was imminent came on 29 minutes when Pietsch scored. He was forced to retire injured soon after following a collision with Kolisi. Australia dominated the second half, helped by endless basic errors from South Africa. When Wilson scored his second try on 64 minutes, Australia took a 24-22 lead. The Springboks were let down by a lack of pace and by missed tackles on defence in the closing stages. Jorgensen and Wright took advantage to end a run of seven straight Wallaby losses in Johannesburg. Argentina host New Zealand later on Saturday in Cordoba in the other first round match. – AFP

Robertson wins Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters title
JEDDAH, Aug 17, (Xinhua): Australia's Neil Robertson edged seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-9 in a dramatic final on Saturday night to claim the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters title in Jeddah. Spurs get manager Frank off to flier, Sunderland win on Premier League return
Newcastle held by 10-man Villa after Konsa sees red LONDON: Richarlison scored twice to give Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a dream home debut with a 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, while Sunderland shocked West Ham 3-0 on their return to the Premier League. Frank was seconds away from launching his era in charge with a trophy until a late Paris Saint-Germain revival won the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. The former Brentford boss replaced Ange Postecoglou despite the Australian ending Spurs' 17-year trophy drought by lifting the Europa League. However, Postecoglou was undone by a miserable return of six home league wins last season as Tottenham finished just above the relegation zone in 17th. Richarlison made the most of the faith shown in him by Frank as the Brazilian turned in Mohammed Kudus' cross to open the scoring. The pair combined again on the hour in more spectacular fashion as Richarlison's bicycle kick crashed in the Ghanaian's delivery from the right. Brennan Johnson was Tottenham's hero of the Europa League final with the only goal against Manchester United and he began the new season by racing clear to slot in the third. Burnley racked up 100 points in their Championship promotion campaign last season but did little to suggest they will buck the trend of sides being relegated straight back to the second tier. For the past two seasons, all three promoted teams have gone down. However, big-spending Sunderland enjoyed a dream return to the top-flight with a second-half demolition of West Ham. Former Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka is among pool of new signings attracted to the Stadium of Light. But it was three players key to their promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2017 who scored. Eliezer Mayenda's looping header gave the Black Cats lift off on the hour mark. Centre-back Dan Ballard headed in the second before Wilson Isidor rounded off a huge win in stoppage time. Newcastle miss Isak Newcastle missed the unsettle Alexander Isak as they failed to find the breakthrough against 10-man Aston Villa in a 0-0 draw at Villa Park. The Magpies were the dominant side even before Ezri Konsa's red card for bringing down Antony Gordon 24 minutes from time. Isak had not been involved during Newcastle's pre-season as he appears determined to force through a move to Liverpool, who reportedly saw a £110 million ($149 million) offer for the Swedish striker rejected. The two clubs face off in their next league match at St. James' Park on August 25. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said he wants an end to the saga one way or another. 'From my perspective, you want a resolution quickly. It's taking away the focus of the players and the supporters,' said Howe 'We want to be united together. We'd like a resolution, but we're not in control of that.' Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz struck in the 96th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw at Brighton after Matt O'Riley's penalty put the Seagulls in front. Manchester City begin their campaign away to Wolves later on Saturday, hoping to bounce back into contenders for the title after a season to forget in 2024/25. Arsenal are not in action until Sunday when they travel to face a transformed Manchester United attack. Defending champions Liverpool began their title defence with a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday thanks to late goals from Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa. — AFP
