Ayushman Bharat turns lifesaver, Uttarakhand woman shares her story of treatment
Ayushman Bharat Yojana is proving to be a lifesaver for many, particularly those belonging to poor families.
While lakhs of people from across the country benefit from the scheme, an elderly woman named Rasila from Mehuwala Mafi in Dehradun shared her story of recuperation, with help from government assistance.
She is a heart patient and had her heart operated some time back.
Beneficiary Rasila's daughter-in-law informed that she also got her son treated using the Ayushman card.
The beneficiary's daughter-in-law, Sajida, said, 'My mother-in-law was very ill. She did not know that she had a heart problem. She has taken advantage of the Ayushman Card scheme. After reaching the hospital, it was found that she had a heart problem. Initially, two to three lakh rupees were needed.'
She further said that they came to know that patients get benefits using the Ayushman card.
'After getting the Ayushman card made, we contacted the hospital and after this treatment of the mother-in-law became possible. Through this card, we have got free treatment up to Rs. 1.5 lakh,' she said.
She further stated that poor people do not have enough money to get treatment for serious diseases. Every poor person should take advantage of this; with this card, one can get treatment up to Rs. 5 lakhs.
Sajida also said that if they didn't get the benefit of this scheme, they wouldn't have been able to get treatment.
'We have benefited a lot from the Ayushman card. I thank Modi ji for making this scheme for the poor of the country,' she said.
'My mother-in-law's life was saved only because of this card,' she said.
She also said that her son had kidney stones and was treated only because of this card.
The beneficiary Rasila said that her heart treatment was made possible only due to the Ayushman card.

Rs 5,000 as aid to those caring for differently abled likely soon in Delhi
A financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to caretakers and attendants of people suffering from over 80% or above disability is likely to be provided soon by the Delhi government in a first-of-its-kind initiative, officials have said. 'This is going to be the first such scheme in the Capital where the caretakers will also receive financial assistance from the government…,' Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said. 'A proposal has been prepared in this regard, and it was already discussed in the Cabinet meeting once… Some changes are being made. Once it is ready, the proposal will be presented before the Cabinet again for approval and further implementation,' he added. The Capital, the Minister said, has 1,000 such families with people having 80% or above disability, and who are completely dependent on their family members and others. For an accurate figure, however, the department is also planning to conduct a survey so that only those eligible can avail the benefits under the proposed scheme. 'This is a first-of-its-kind proposal not only in Delhi but across the country,' a senior official said. The Social Welfare Department's existing pension scheme provides persons with over 40% disability a monthly aid of Rs 2,500. As per official data, about 1.5 lakh specially-abled people are availing this pension scheme. However, no assistance is provided to their caregivers. 'The aim behind this scheme is to ensure that there is no negligence in the care of such persons with disabilities, especially those from economically weaker sections. Also, the attendants receive some financial support… because well-to-do families have separate nurses or caretakers to take care of such persons…But the case is different in poor families, so this scheme will help them financially,' the senior official added. Officials said the caretakers can be parents, siblings, or anyone who is taking care of the differently abled. Meanwhile, on Friday, the Social Welfare Minister also inspected the under-construction building for mentally challenged individuals in Narela on Friday. Once completed, individuals currently residing in overcrowded shelter homes like Asha Kiran Home in Rohini will be relocated here. The building, located within the Nursing College Hostel premises and the Primary Urban Health Centre campus in Narela, will accommodate 220 differently abled residents. This facility is expected to be operational within three months. The Minister directed the officials to ensure the building is wheelchair-friendly and there is no encroachment around the premises, so that ambulance movement does not face any obstruction. Indraj also said that multiple facilities are being developed across the city for differently abled people. Once the facilities in Mamurpur and Dallupura are completed, they will significantly improve access to services, safety, and healthcare for the differently abled, he added.

UP inks Rs 435cr MoUs at Ahmd roadshow
Lucknow: Inviting pharma sector players to come and invest in UP during a roadshow in Ahmedabad on Friday, CEO of UP state industrial development authority (UPSIDA), Mayur Maheshwari said that a new era for the pharma sector is taking place in UP. "UP is developing a bulk drug pharma park on 1,472.33 acre in Lalitpur, with a proposed investment of approximately Rs250 crore. This project is a significant step towards making the country self-reliant in the pharmaceutical sector and establishing India as the 'Pharmacy of the world'," he said, adding, "it will not only attract substantial investment but also create new employment opportunities for the skilled workforce in the state. " Several agreements were signed by UPSIDA with pharma companies on the occasion. The list includes CSL Lifesciences Private Limited, which proposed an investment of Rs 200 crore for establishing an intravenous bottle plant and oral solid dosage plant within the next two years. Likewise, Medihealth Diagnostic Pvt Ltd will establish a healthcare unit on 4,200 sqmt in Lalitpur, while Gaman Irradiation Company will invest Rs 35 crore in a skin treatment and irradiation unit. Creating employment for 150 people, the project will be implemented in 24-36 months. Additionally, Obmed Pharma has decided to invest Rs 200 crore to establish a formulation unit. Spread across five acre of land in Lalitpur, the unit will create employment for around 100 people. Several business-to-govt meetings were held, where detailed discussions on investment-related topics took place between industry representatives and govt officials. Earlier, in the welcome address, convenor of CII Gujarat pharma and healthcare panel, Swapnil Shah highlighted investment opportunities in UP. Advisor to UP CM, GN Singh said, "UP emerged as the most suitable state for investment in the pharma sector". He shared detailed information about the efforts made by the state govt to empower the pharma sector. An 'Open House' session followed, where participants engaged in direct dialogue with state govt officials to resolve their queries and concerns. Haryana IMA seeks clarity on State govt.'s cashless treatment scheme for accident victims
In the wake of the Haryana Health Department's order to onboard all hospitals for a cashless road accident victims treatment scheme, the State chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has sought clarity on its various aspects, including the rates prescribed for the treatment. The scheme, launched in Haryana earlier this year as a pilot project along with five other States, had failed to take off after the private hospitals backed out of it citing several reasons, including the meagre treatment rates. In a letter to the Director General Health Services (DGHS) seeking clarification on the various aspects of the scheme, the Haryana IMA has sought details about the rates prescribed for the services such as consultation, ICU charges, room rent; the mode of payment; procedure for the empanelment of non-Ayushman Hospitals and access to the portal for the registration of these cases. The DGHS has directed all civil surgeons to onboard all hospitals for the scheme, especially those not empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat. Under the scheme, notified by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in 2025, the road accident victims would be administered cashless emergency care of up to ₹1.5 lakh with a cap of maximum of seven days. The scheme is applicable across all categories of roads including National and State Highways and municipal roads. Former IMA chief Ajay Mahajan told The Hindu over phone that the government had earlier offered very low rates, only ₹1,000 per day including ICU charges, surgery, medicines and the investigations expenses. 'It is a good scheme and could help save road accident victims offering timely treatment. But the rates offered earlier were not practical. Many Ayushaman empanelled hospitals came forward, but had to back out due to very low rates and delayed payments. The road accident victims suffer multiple injuries and might require a lot of investigations such as frequent MRI. So, this scheme failed to take off in Haryana and now DGHS has asked civil surgeons to enrol other hospitals too. But there is no clarity on how the hospitals would be paid. This is bound to fail again,' said Dr. Mahajan. 'Meagre payment' In March too, the IMA had written to the DGHS after the launch of the scheme expressing concerns over low rates and lack of clarity on various issues. 'Unfortunately, at present the pilot project is being launched in Haryana without proper preparations. There are no proper guidelines on how the payments will be made, no separate MoU has been done and few cases that have been claimed are being paid a measly sum of ₹1,000 per day for general ward for a head injury case in Intensive Care Unit,' the letter had read. DGHS Manish Bansal did not respond to calls and text messages to seek his response.
