AGC Accepts Representation From Three Accused In Palestinian Kidnap Case
Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Badius Zaman Ahmad informed High Court Judge K. Muniandy that the three accused, Edy Ko'im Said, 42, Muhammad Al Hatim Mohd Fauzi, 25 and Mohd Azwan Jamaludin, 39, had submitted their representations to the AGC last month.
'The case was initially fixed for trial today. However, following recent developments, the prosecution confirms that the AGC has accepted the representations and is offering alternative charges under Section 365 of the Penal Code to the three accused,' he said, adding that several other accused have also submitted representations.
Judge Muniandy fixed July 10 for the alternative charges to be read to the three individuals and vacated the previously scheduled trial dates set for today, tomorrow and Wednesday.
At today's proceedings, Edy Ko'im was represented by counsel Lingswaran Singh, Muhammad Al Hatim by Adi Zulkarnain Zulkafli and Mohd Azwan by Norma Goh Kim Lian.
The 11 other accused have also been jointly charged in connection with the abduction of a 31-year-old Palestinian man, allegedly to extract confidential information on the development and deactivation of software used to hack mobile phones.
They are Mohamad Norakmal Hassan, 43; Dody Junaidi, 44; Tengku Arif Bongsu Tengku Hamid, 41; Mohamad Naziree Mustapha, 41; Faizull Hardey Mohd Isa, 42; Muhammad Iqmal Abdul Rahis, 27; Mohamad Sufian Saly, 25; Mohd Zaidi Mohd Zain, 56; Tengku Hazarul Ismail Tengku Hamid, 51; Nidarahayu Zainal, 36; and Raibafie Amdan, 41.
All 14 individuals were accused of allegedly confining the victim unlawfully with a common intention to obtain confidential information on the creation and disabling of software used for mobile phone hacking at Jalan Mayang, Kuala Lumpur, at approximately 10.40 pm on Sept 28, 2022.
They were charged under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961, which carries a sentence of between 30 and 40 years imprisonment, along with caning, upon conviction.

PETALING JAYA : The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has decided to charge Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over statements he made on his Facebook page, 'Akmal Saleh', which were said to disrupt public order. In a statement, the AGC said it would proceed to charge Akmal under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for making statements conducing to public mischief. However, it did not specify the Facebook content in question. In a Facebook video, Akmal said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday, at 8am. He said he would cut short his trip to Mecca, after arriving there just yesterday, to face the charge against him. Last Friday, it was reported that police had launched a probe into a viral Facebook video featuring Akmal making statements that were considered to be 'hate speech' that could disturb public peace. It was not clear which video is the subject of the investigation. However, in recent days, Akmal has posted videos concerning a Jalur Gemilang mishap at a Penang hardware store, where the national flag was hoisted upside down. In one of Akmal's videos, he said prosecutors had two days to charge the shop owner, failing which he said he would personally 'teach this 'Ah Pek' (uncle) how to correctly put up a flag'. The AGC also confirmed that Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham would be charged under the same section over remarks he made in a video posted on the TikTok account ' Earlier, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the wing's chief is expected to be charged at the magistrates' court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow over a speech he delivered during a gathering outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters last month. The AGC today said it had also decided to charge a woman named Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin under the same section as Akmal and Hilman, and S Chandrasegaran under the Communications and Multimedia Act for posting offensive content online. 'All charges will be brought before the magistrates' court with the appropriate local jurisdiction in due course.'

College Student Murder: Police Record Statements From 19 Individuals
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Police have recorded the statements of 19 individuals to assist investigations into the suspected murder of a female college student at her family's home in USJ 2/1, Subang Jaya on Thursday. Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the individuals included the victim's family members, friends and witnesses, and that the investigation will continue to identify the true motive and the suspect involved. Dr Akmal, Hilman to be charged in court soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Merlimau assemblyman Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh and Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham will be charged in court soon, according to the Attorney General's Office (AGC). The AGC in a statement today announced that based on the evidence and statements obtained, the department has decided to file charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code (Act 574) against Dr Akmal and Muhammad Hilman Idham. 'This department has examined the investigation papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police regarding the statements made by Dr Akmal on the Facebook page 'Akmal Saleh' and Muhammad Hilman via the TikTok platform ' 'The statements made by the individuals were found to have threatened public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services,' the statement said. The same statement informed that charges will also be made against Chandrasegaran Subramaniam and Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, in relation to the statements uploaded on the TikTok accounts 'cikguchandra3' and 'SHA_Abrienda' respectively. 'Siti Hajar will also be charged under Act 574 while Chandrasegaran will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 (Act 588). 'All charges will be presented at the Magistrate's Court with local jurisdiction in the near future,' the AGC said. Meanwhile, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, informed that Akmal Salleh will be charged at a Magistrate's Court in Penang in the near future. 'YB Akmal will be charged depending on his whereabouts,' he said. Meanwhile, Akmal Salleh in a post on his Facebook page stated that he is currently performing Umrah in Makkah and will return to the country to face charges on Friday at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court. Based on a review of the court system, Muhammad Hilman's case will be mentioned tomorrow before Magistrate Amira Abd Aziz, at the Criminal Magistrate's Court here.
