Dr Akmal, Hilman to be charged in court soon
The AGC in a statement today announced that based on the evidence and statements obtained, the department has decided to file charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code (Act 574) against Dr Akmal and Muhammad Hilman Idham.
'This department has examined the investigation papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police regarding the statements made by Dr Akmal on the Facebook page 'Akmal Saleh' and Muhammad Hilman via the TikTok platform 'alfah.channel.tv'.
'The statements made by the individuals were found to have threatened public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services,' the statement said.
The same statement informed that charges will also be made against Chandrasegaran Subramaniam and Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, in relation to the statements uploaded on the TikTok accounts 'cikguchandra3' and 'SHA_Abrienda' respectively.
'Siti Hajar will also be charged under Act 574 while Chandrasegaran will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 (Act 588).
'All charges will be presented at the Magistrate's Court with local jurisdiction in the near future,' the AGC said.
Meanwhile, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, informed that Akmal Salleh will be charged at a Magistrate's Court in Penang in the near future.
'YB Akmal will be charged depending on his whereabouts,' he said.
Meanwhile, Akmal Salleh in a post on his Facebook page stated that he is currently performing Umrah in Makkah and will return to the country to face charges on Friday at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court.
Based on a review of the court system, Muhammad Hilman's case will be mentioned tomorrow before Magistrate Amira Abd Aziz, at the Criminal Magistrate's Court here.
Chandrasegaran will also be charged tomorrow at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam before Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak. – Bernama

Users of Meta's platforms, which include Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, can create and customise such bots using the company's generative artificial intelligence, AI Studio. The AGU said in a statement that Meta must 'immediately' remove 'artificial intelligence robots that simulate profiles with childlike language and appearance and are allowed to engage in sexually explicit dialogue'. It denounced the 'proliferation' of such bots in what it called an 'extrajudicial notice' sent to Meta last week, adding that they 'promote the eroticisation of children.' The document cited several examples of sexually charged conversations with bots pretending to be minors. The AGU's request does not include sanctions, but the agency said it had reminded Meta that online platforms in Brazil must take down illicit content created by their users, even without a court order. It comes at a time of outrage in the South American nation over a case of alleged child sexual exploitation by Hytalo Santos, a well-known influencer who posted content on Instagram featuring partially naked minors taking part in suggestive dances. Santos was arrested last week as part of an investigation into 'exposure with sexual connotations' to adolescents, and his Instagram account is no longer available. In June, Brazil's Supreme Court voted to require tech companies to assume greater responsibility for user-generated content.

Azalina: Five teenagers charged in Zara's case will remain protected under Child Act
KUALA LUMPUR: The five teenage girls who will be charged today in connection with the Zara Qairina Mahathir's case will continue to be protected under the Child Act 2001, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. She nevertheless stressed that any acts of bullying, whether at school or online, will never be tolerated. "While the five teenagers are currently facing charges, they are still considered children under the law and must be protected under the Child Act 2001. "This includes confidentiality, the right to legal representation, and fair treatment," she said in a Facebook post yesterday. She was commenting on the concerns raised by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) over the public disclosure of the identities of the five teenagers to be charged in connection with the 13-year-old student's case. It was reported that the five teenagers are expected to be charged at Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court in Sabah. The Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC), in a statement, said the five teenagers will be charged only for bullying and not related to the death of Zara Qairina. It said the decision to proceed with the current charge was based on evidence and facts obtained during the investigation, adding that the offence concerns bullying and has no link to the 13-year-old's death.

Akmal to face charge for ‘disrupting public order' over Facebook content
Dr Akmal Saleh said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday at 8am. PETALING JAYA : The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has decided to charge Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over statements he made on his Facebook page, 'Akmal Saleh', which were said to disrupt public order. In a statement, the AGC said it would proceed to charge Akmal under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for making statements conducing to public mischief. However, it did not specify the Facebook content in question. In a Facebook video, Akmal said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday, at 8am. He said he would cut short his trip to Mecca, after arriving there just yesterday, to face the charge against him. Last Friday, it was reported that police had launched a probe into a viral Facebook video featuring Akmal making statements that were considered to be 'hate speech' that could disturb public peace. It was not clear which video is the subject of the investigation. However, in recent days, Akmal has posted videos concerning a Jalur Gemilang mishap at a Penang hardware store, where the national flag was hoisted upside down. In one of Akmal's videos, he said prosecutors had two days to charge the shop owner, failing which he said he would personally 'teach this 'Ah Pek' (uncle) how to correctly put up a flag'. The AGC also confirmed that Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham would be charged under the same section over remarks he made in a video posted on the TikTok account ' Earlier, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the wing's chief is expected to be charged at the magistrates' court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow over a speech he delivered during a gathering outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters last month. The AGC today said it had also decided to charge a woman named Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin under the same section as Akmal and Hilman, and S Chandrasegaran under the Communications and Multimedia Act for posting offensive content online. 'All charges will be brought before the magistrates' court with the appropriate local jurisdiction in due course.'
