As the new Formula E Season 12 calendar with 18 races was unveiled, Madrid has been added as a new venue among 12 cities across the globe. The GEN 3 Evo cars will race for the first time at the historic Circuito de Madrid-Jarama in March next year.
This marks the first time a Formula E race will be held in the Spanish capital — and the first World Championship motorsport event in the city in 37 years, since 1989.
More about the 2025-26 Formula E calendar
Another new circuit on the calendar is the Miami International Autodrome, which will host its inaugural Formula E race on January 31 next year. This event brings the championship closer to the heart of one of America's most passionate sports hubs on the East Coast.
Securing a race at this venue follows the successful delivery of its EVO Sessions event in March 2025.
Two additional locations are pending public confirmation as end-stage negotiations with local authorities continue. The final calendar will be revealed and ratified during upcoming World Motorsport Council Meetings later this year.
The calendar also emphasizes sustainability by grouping events into dedicated clusters across America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
This approach aims to reduce freight transport and CO2 emissions while maximizing logistical efficiencies across regions.
Alberto Longo, Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer, Formula E, said: 'We're incredibly proud of the global footprint we've built for our 12th season, covering 2025-26. With at least two fantastic new circuits joining the impressive roster, including what will be a home race for myself in Madrid that has long been a goal of mine, we're enhancing the diversity of what fans can expect while staying true to our DNA with a blend of city street and built circuit venues.
It is what makes our racing so exciting and compelling to watch. We've carefully curated each leg to minimise our freight, improve sustainability and give fans across the world even more opportunity to tune in and watch no matter the time zone, thanks to our fantastic roster of broadcast partners'
Marek Nawarecki, Director, FIA Circuit Sport Department, added, 'The Season 12 calendar provides a world-class platform to showcase Formula E at its very best whilst offering a balanced presence in different regions, especially in those where the EV industry is developing. With an excellent mix of new circuit venues and returning street racing classics, fans can expect an action-packed season that reflects Formula E's continued growth and innovation in electric motorsport.
The variety of track layouts will also ensure diversified race scenarios with the GEN3 Evo race car.'

Trent Alexander-Arnold says signing for Real Madrid is ‘dream come true'
Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold described his move to Real Madrid as 'a dream come true' in a speech he delivered in Spanish at his official presentation at the La Liga club on Thursday. Liverpool-born Alexander-Arnold left his boyhood club last month in a tearful farewell after securing his second Premier League winner's medal, before joining Real on a six-year deal. According to British media reports, Real paid a fee in the region of 10 million pounds ($13.58 million) to sign the 26-year-old before his Liverpool contract ended on June 30, ensuring his availability for the Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13. I can't wait to show my game, win many titles, become a champion, grow, and enjoy every moment alongside the best players in the world,' he added. Formula E: Porsche and Nissan locked in intense battle for Team Championship
Image credit: Formula E Oliver Rowland of Nissan may be well ahead of Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche in terms of points, but their teams are currently locked in a neck-and-neck battle. Rowland has 171 points, while Wehrlein has 103 points in the Drivers' Standings. The Porsche driver will need a major turnaround — and hope the results start going in his favour — to catch up with the top-placed Rowland. Porsche vs Nissan: Neck-and-neck in Formula E Team Standings However, the situation is quite different in the Team Standings. Porsche are on top with 191 points, while Nissan are just one point behind with 190. This close competition has added an extra layer of excitement to the championship. Formula E's official social media handle shared a special post highlighting the tight battle between the two teams: 'The top is getting busy. @PorscheFormulaE and @NISMO battling it out for the Team Championship @Hankook_Sport #ShanghaiEPrix,' Formula E's handle posted. How points system works for Formula E teams Every team has two drivers. It depends on the positions the two drivers of the same team capture. The points of the two drivers combined in a race are considered as team points, and that's how team standings come into the picture. The race winner or the first-position driver gets 25 points, the second-placed gets 18 points, third-placed gets 15 points, fourth-placed gets 12 points, fifth-placed gets 10 points, sixth-placed gets 8 points, seventh-placed gets 6 points, eighth-placed gets 4 points, ninth-placed gets 2 points, and 10th-placed gets 1 point. Example: If a team's two drivers finish 3rd and 7th, they will earn 15 + 6 = 21 points for that race. The Formula E points system 1st: 25 Pts 2nd: 18 Pts 3rd: 15 Pts 4th: 12 Pts 5th: 10 Pts 6th: 8 Pts 7th: 6 Pts 8th: 4 Pts 9th: 2 Pts 10th: 1 Pt For Porsche, Wehrlein has clinched 103 points, while his teammate Antonio Felix da Costa has 88 points. For Nissan, Rowland has 171 points, but his teammate Norman Nato's poor show this season has cost the team dearly. Nato has just 19 points to his name. It's Rowland's sheer dominance this season that has kept his team in the Team Championship race.
