Oliver Rowland of Nissan may be well ahead of Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche in terms of points, but their teams are currently locked in a neck-and-neck battle. Rowland has 171 points, while Wehrlein has 103 points in the Drivers' Standings.
The Porsche driver will need a major turnaround — and hope the results start going in his favour — to catch up with the top-placed Rowland.
Porsche vs Nissan: Neck-and-neck in Formula E Team Standings
However, the situation is quite different in the Team Standings. Porsche are on top with 191 points, while Nissan are just one point behind with 190. This close competition has added an extra layer of excitement to the championship.
Formula E's official social media handle shared a special post highlighting the tight battle between the two teams: 'The top is getting busy.
@PorscheFormulaE and @NISMO battling it out for the Team Championship @Hankook_Sport #ShanghaiEPrix,' Formula E's handle posted.
How points system works for Formula E teams
Every team has two drivers. It depends on the positions the two drivers of the same team capture. The points of the two drivers combined in a race are considered as team points, and that's how team standings come into the picture. The race winner or the first-position driver gets 25 points, the second-placed gets 18 points, third-placed gets 15 points, fourth-placed gets 12 points, fifth-placed gets 10 points, sixth-placed gets 8 points, seventh-placed gets 6 points, eighth-placed gets 4 points, ninth-placed gets 2 points, and 10th-placed gets 1 point.
Example: If a team's two drivers finish 3rd and 7th, they will earn 15 + 6 = 21 points for that race.
The Formula E points system
1st: 25 Pts
2nd: 18 Pts
3rd: 15 Pts
4th: 12 Pts
5th: 10 Pts
6th: 8 Pts
7th: 6 Pts
8th: 4 Pts
9th: 2 Pts
10th: 1 Pt
For Porsche, Wehrlein has clinched 103 points, while his teammate Antonio Felix da Costa has 88 points.
For Nissan, Rowland has 171 points, but his teammate Norman Nato's poor show this season has cost the team dearly. Nato has just 19 points to his name. It's Rowland's sheer dominance this season that has kept his team in the Team Championship race.

Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy and their epic record for Jaguar TCS Racing

Image credit: Jaguar TCS Racing Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy are the only pair of teammates to have clinched wins in Formula E Season 11, making Jaguar TCS Racing the only team this season with a victory for each of its drivers. Evans secured his win in Sao Paulo, while Cassidy triumphed in Shanghai. These two victories — one each by the New Zealanders — helped Jaguar TCS Racing stand out with this remarkable achievement. Record-breakers Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy Mitch Evans' win in Sao Paulo was particularly special. Not because it was his first win of the season, but because he started 22nd on the grid and still managed to take the chequered flag. It was a spectacular come-from-behind effort from the 30-year-old. Evans, who has been with Jaguar TCS Racing since their debut in Formula E, completed the race in a total time of 45:14.758, with a best lap time of 1:13.295, earning the maximum 25 points. Cassidy, on the other hand, delivered a dominant performance from start to finish in Shanghai. He grabbed pole position and maintained his lead throughout the race, not allowing any rival to pass or challenge his pace. From the front of the grid to the finish line, Cassidy's control was absolute. He won the race with a total time of 45:54.828 and posted a best lap time of 1:24.092, adding another 25 points to Jaguar's tally. After securing his first win of the season, Cassidy celebrated in style. Standing alongside his teammates, team principal, and technical staff at the Shanghai International Circuit, he broke into a spirited rendition of Taylor Swift's Love Story. FIA Formula E's official Instagram handle posted a heartwarming video of Cassidy's unique celebration, captioning it: "Our favourite Love Story is @jaguarracing and this podium. Celebrating Cassidy's P1 performance in their traditional team style. @ #ShanghaiEPrix #FormulaE #Motorsport #Racing" Cassidy sang these lyrics with infectious energy, amplifying the already electric post-race atmosphere: "Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess. It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'." 'He's talented': George Russell makes his stance clear on Dan Ticktum

Image credit: Instagram Mercedes driver George Russell on Friday made his stance clear on the comments he made about Formula E driver Dan Ticktum. His comments came after his clash with Max Verstappen following the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, which stirred controversy as Dan Ticktum seemed to have taken offence with it and had responded to his comments on social media. George Russell vs Dan Ticktum controversy The incident unfolded when George Russell, who didn't appear to be in a good mood after the clash, was asked by a reporter if he had ever seen a driver do what F1 champion Max Verstappen did — that is, deliberately hit another driver during a race. To this, Russell had said: 'Not in Formula 1. Maybe in Formula E. Maybe one British driver in Formula E.' The reply didn't go down well with Ticktum, who is the only British driver in Formula E at the moment. Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Russell once again found himself in hot water. The question on the topic was ready to be hurled at him during the interaction with the media — and it happened. Russell was asked by Motorsport Week on Friday if he had seen Cupra Kiro driver Ticktum's Instagram repost. To this, Russell said: 'I was told about that this morning. Yeah, I didn't really have much to say. I've known Ticktum for a while. Obviously, a talented driver. I didn't mean any offence with my comment. I was just using that as an example. So, yeah, I heard he saw the funny side of it,' he said. 'No, I've not actually seen him for a long time, so I know he's racing in Formula E. I keep half an eye on that when I can, so I know he's done a pretty decent job,' he added. What Dan Ticktum had said in his response to George Russell's remark Taking to Instagram to share a recorded response to Russell's remark, Ticktum had said: "It has come to my attention via the Twittersphere that a certain driver in Formula 1 — not to name names but his name is George Russell — has made some rather choice comments about a certain Formula E driver.' Thanking Russell for the mention, he further said: "He hasn't named my name, but it's quite obviously pointed at me. We'd like to address those comments that he made, I believe, on the team radio. Number one, thank you for the free publicity. We'll take that any day of the week. And two, while what Max did today was a little bit sceptical, to be likened to him at any point in my career is a positive if you ask me. Goodbye." He will now be seen competing in the Jakarta E-Prix next weekend.

Depleting Inventory of Imported Rare-Earth Magnets a Concern For EV Industry

Contribute Now New Delhi: Stakeholders in the electric vehicle (EV) industry are concerned about the fact that inventories of rare-earth magnets used in EV traction motors and power steering systems could run dry by mid-July this year. Rating agency Icra has said that in wake of the depleting inventory, there is a need for urgent contingency planning. 'The rare-earth magnet supply shock is a serious concern, particularly for EVs and premium passenger vehicles. Rare-earth magnets, especially neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB), are indispensable for high-efficiency traction motors and other advanced automotive systems. With inventories expected to deplete by mid-July, contingency planning has become urgent,' said Jitin Makkar, senior vice president and group head, corporate ratings, Icra, reported Business Standard. The delay in the shipments of rare-earth magnets began in April, when authorities in China introduced new licensing rules and intensified inspections, which led to custom clearances slowing down. It resulted in unpredictable shipping timelines and uncertainty about future availability. According to the estimates of Crisil, another rating agency, the present challenge could affect up to 6-7 per cent of quarterly EV production if the issue remains unresolved within the next two months. In FY 25, India imported around $200 million worth of rare-earth magnets. A majority of these imports were used in automotive and industrial applications. In electric two-wheelers, motors cost between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 15,000, with rare earth magnets accounting for around 30 per cent of the motor cost. The rare-earth magnets are important because of their high magnetic strength, energy efficiency, and thermal stability. These properties are difficult to replicate with conventional alternatives like ferrite magnets.
