Manny Pacquiao called out by ex-world champion and offered shot at redemption
Pacquiao stepped back between the ropes after a four-year layoff to draw with Mario Barrios in their WBC welterweight title clash in Las Vegas and has no plans to head back into retirement yet.
Australia's Paro, 26-1 (16), held the IBF super lightweight title for six months last year and is now moving up to welterweight.
He is targeting a fight with Pacquiao and has offered the Filipino legend a shot at redemption after he lost his only previous fight in Australia to Jeff Horn back in 2017.
Speaking to Main Event, Paro said: 'The legend, my favourite fighter Manny Pacquiao, is back in boxing. Man, get me in there. Bring him to Australia.
'I'm sure he wants to get one back on Suncorp (Stadium, where he lost to Horn). I'd be willing to offer that fight, very exciting.'
Paro is just one of a number of contenders that could be picked by Pacquiao for his next fight.
The 46-year-old has also been linked with a potential clash with newly elevated WBA champion Rolando 'Rolly' Romero, while Ryan Garcia has expressed interest in facing the eight-division world champion.
But Paro is hoping to jump the queue as he starts his bid to become a two-weight titlist.
'I conquered the world at 140 and have been doing it since 18 years old, 29 now and it's getting a little bit harder to make the weight so we made the decision to go up and chase a title at welterweight,' Paro explained.
'I said it before, two-time has a ring (to it), but two-division champion has too, I'm keen to get it done.'

TNT Sports secures live rights to England's Ashes series in Australia
England's attempt to regain the Ashes this winter will be broadcast live in the UK by TNT Sports. After agreeing a one-year deal with Cricket Australia over the weekend TNT now has the rights for all of England's winter tours, as the broadcaster had deals in place to cover white-ball series in New Zealand and Sri Lanka either side of the Ashes. TNT's predecessor, BT Sport, bought the rights for the past two Ashes tours so the new deal may be inauspicious for Ben Stokes's side as their viewers have not seen England win a single game. England have lost 13 of the past 15 Tests they have played in Australia, which shows the size of the task for the touring side this winter. TNT has increasingly become the home of England's winter cricket deals in recent years and has long-term rights in place with New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan, as well as securing a late deal to cover England's five-Test series in India last winter. Unlike that tour, in which the former England players Alastair Cook and Steven Finn provided commentary from a studio in the Netherlands, TNT is planning to send a team to Australia, although will also use coverage from the host broadcaster. TNT's dominance follows a decision from Sky Sports to pull back from winter tours due to cost-cutting and its focus on covering Premier League football – it will broadcast 215 matches live this season. Sky still has the rights to International Cricket Council events, such as the men's and women's World Cup and T20 World Cup, but its only contract for bilateral series is with Cricket South Africa. TNT's new Cricket Australia deal also includes men's white-ball series against South Africa and India, and a multiformat women's series against India. Footy star launches $5million lawsuit against his old club as he accuses team of shocking act that left him 'comatose' and ended his career
Former Manly prop Lloyd Perrett has launched legal proceedings against the club for an alleged 'outlandish training regime' that ended his promising NRL career. At the crux of the legal claim is a 2017 summer training session that left Perrett unconscious and in hospital after he was allegedly deprived of water and fluids. Carter Capner Law director Peter Carter said Perrett's career had been cut short by the actions of Manly. Australian Associated Press has seen the statement of claim lodged in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday. It focuses on a compulsory pre-season training session at Narrabeen Sports Complex on November 6, 2017 in what Carter said were 'very warm conditions'. The session involved a warm-up of 20 minutes followed by two 2km time trials which Perrett completed in eight minutes and 23 seconds and 10 minutes and 23 seconds respectively. Perrett completed one lap of a third 2km time trial before he 'collapsed unconscious to the ground'. The claim alleges Perrett was 'not supplied with any water or other fluids during the training session because Mr Dan Ferris, the club performance coach, had directed before the start of the session that there would be no water breaks'. Ferris is no longer employed by Manly. 'During the third time trial Lloyd collapsed and his next memory was waking up in Mona Vale Hospital with a diagnosis of severe heat stroke,' Carter said. 'Despite the injury, Lloyd attempted a comeback, playing (13) games in the 2018 season and (three) in 2019. That was the last time he played NRL level. 'Given he was a very successful player at such an early stage of his career with arguably many good years ahead of him, the potential damages are well into the millions of dollars.' In the statement of claim, Perrett's lawyers said that Manly owed their client, who had fulfilled all of his contractual duties, a 'non-delegable duty of care' but failed in that duty. Sixteen breaches are then listed which includes exposing Perrett to 'the risk of exertional heat stress' and placing him in 'a position of peril' by depriving him of water and other fluids during the session. In a release issued by Carter Capner Law it states that the claim filed 'seeks injury compensation mainly for the loss of income Lloyd could reasonably expected to have received during his promising career'. Perrett was 24 when he played his last game. Perrett debuted for Canterbury in 2014 and notched 24 NRL games across three seasons. On December 9, 2016, Manly announced Perrett had signed a three-year deal with the club from 2017. Carter Capner Law said the deal was worth $500,000 per season. Perrett was a member of the Queensland emerging Origin squad in 2016 and 2017. He spoke last year about the long-term mental and physical impacts of the training incident. 'I was comatose,' Perrett said. 'Six out of 10 people die in this situation. That's what the nurse told me when I was in hospital. 'I became much more anxious (afterwards). I was even suicidal at points. 'If it wasn't for my parents, I would have taken my own life. I considered myself to be worthless.'

Porecki makes surprise call to retire after breaking back into Wallabies
MELBOURNE, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Australia hooker Dave Porecki has retired from professional rugby only weeks after reviving his test career. The New South Wales Waratah battled injuries in recent seasons but made his first Australia appearance under coach Joe Schmidt against Fiji last month after nearly two years out of the Wallabies. After suffering a concussion against Fiji and missing the first British & Irish Lions test in Brisbane, Porecki was recalled for the second clash in Melbourne before being sidelined for the third and final test in Sydney due to a cut heel at training. Capped 21 times for the Wallabies, Porecki said it was the right time to start a new chapter in his life. "Rugby has given me so much to be thankful for and has been such a massive part of my life for so long but it feels like the right time for me to turn the page," he said in a statement on Tuesday. "There's a lot of people who have supported me in my journey, and to them I'll be forever grateful. "I'm especially looking forward to spending more time with my wife Shani and kids Luca, Charlie and Billie. "I look forward to continuing to support the game away from the field in this next stage of my life." Porecki was part of Australia's 2023 World Cup squad and became the 88th Wallabies captain after injury to Will Skelton, leading the side in three of their four pool matches at the tournament. Schmidt praised Porecki as the "the ultimate professional and quiet achiever." "He doesn't say a lot, preferring to get on with the job and to lead by example, and he's done that really well for the time that I've known him," he said.
