Top offensive tackle Claude Mpouma lists Nebraska in final five ahead of commitment date
Mpouma made his announcement following his official visits to both Auburn and Florida earlier this month. He is set to visit the Huskers this weekend.
The 6-foot-8, 305-pounder played for Phillips Academy in Chicago for his junior year after transferring in from Culver Academy in Indiana his sophomore year. He also played basketball for the Wildcats, helping the team to an IHSA Class 2A state championship as a sophomore.
He played left tackle for Phillips in his first season and despite the team finishing 3-6, he made himself a top 2026 prospect. He is the No. 175 overall prospect and No. 14 OT in the 2026 class after playing his first season of high school football.
Mpouma transferred to Mount Carmel in Chicago ahead of his senior year, a major football powerhouse coming off its third-straight IHSA Class 7A state championship.
Nebraska's class of 2026 holds six commits. It currently ranks 71st in the nation and 18th in the Big Ten, according to the latest analysis from On3.

Watch Oklahoma QB John Mateer give Sooners teammates Beats By Dre
When the Oklahoma Sooners added quarterback John Mateer via the transfer portal, the hope was that he'd help resurrect an offense that was one of the worst in the nation in 2025. Not only has he done that, but he's also been a big part of building team 131 from a leadership standpoint. Players and coaches have spoken of Mateer's leadership and how he's not only built relationships with everyone on the offensive side of the ball, but he's also built a strong rapport with the guys on defense as well. He's sat in on meetings with each position group and has gone above and beyond to build confidence and camaraderie. Mateer recently entered into a name, image, and likeness agreement with the worldwide brand Beats by Dre. Oklahoma football released a video of Mateer walking into Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium sporting the Oklahoma Sooners-themed Beats. But that wasn't all. Mateer also gifted his teammates with a pair of Beats. The reaction will leave you smiling, as teammates could be heard in the video shouting, "We love you, John!!!" The gesture had the players smiling and cheering after practice let out. Watch the video of Mateer giving his teammates the Beats headphones below as released by Oklahoma Football's social media team. The College Football Playoff announces new selection process that impacts Notre Dame
The College Football Playoff continues to tweak its formula, and on Wednesday it was announced that they will be changing how they 'assess schedule strength, and how teams perform against their schedule,' as reported by CBS Sports Brandon Marcello. The release goes on to say that more weight will be given to wins against 'strong opponents' which gives teams who have difficult schedules an advantage. The committee will add record strength as well, and they'll judge that by going 'beyond a team's schedule strength to assess how a team performed against that schedule.' That will be difficult in my eyes, as often times preseason polls are incorrect. It is great to see that they have come forward and let teams know that they'll give more credit to wins over good teams, and on the flip side, a bigger penalty for losses to bad teams. They also announced a factor that impacts Notre Dame greatly, as they addresses idle teams in the final week of the season. The committee stated 'that movement in the final weeks should evidence-based and did not recommend creating a formal policy prohibiting such movement.' Since the Irish aren't in a conference, they'll always be one of these teams that could move down without playing. While it doesn't force Notre Dame's hand, it's not the most encouraging part of these changes.
