PFF projects Jets QB Justin Fields to throw for nearly 3,000 yards

Yahooa day ago
New York Jets starting quarterback Justin Fields will help dictate the direction of the 2025 season. That goes without saying. The Jets inked Fields to a two-year contract worth $40 million earlier this offseason to be their starting quarterback while they rebuild the roster and reset the culture.
This represents Fields' final opportunity to establish himself as a legitimate NFL starter. It's his third stop after failed stints in Chicago and Pittsburgh. Fields is talented enough to reach his performance ceiling, but he must operate with a sense of urgency this campaign.

Pro Football Focus recently assessed Fields' projected statline for the 2025 season. Their analysts have Fields hitting the overs, projecting him to record 2,935 passing yards and 738 rushing yards.
Let's place those numbers in perspective; 2,935 passing yards would've finished 20th-most among quarterbacks last season. Fields has never reached that figure, however, having thrown for a career-high 2,562 yards in 2023; Fields only appeared in 13 regular-season contests that season, though, and was on pace for 3,350 yards had he completed a 17-game season.
As noted, Fields rushed 1,143 yards as a sophomore with the Bears in 2022. A 738-yard rushing season would be the second-best total of his career. It would have finished third last season among QB rushing yards, trailing just the dynamic Lamar Jackson and Jayden Daniels.

The Jets possess expectations for Fields this season. These stat-line predictions would indicate Fields enjoyed a quality campaign should they come to fruition. He must seize this opportunity.

Golfweek video instruction: Improve your rotation by 'grabbing a drink'

Many amateur golfers make the mistake of swaying their hips laterally during the backswing instead of rotating around their spine. This sway throws off balance, timing and power leading to inconsistent contact and poor ball flight. Fitness guru and Professional Long Driver Averee Dovsek shares a quick tip on how to initiate better hip rotation and get a straight lead arm. A simple cue she calls the 'grab a drink' tip helps fix this. Imagine reaching your lead arm back to grab a drink off a high shelf to the side of you. This encourages proper rotation, keeps your weight centered, and builds a more powerful, connected turn. If you're interested in any of Averee's fitness content, click here. Former Boston Bruins enforcer and radio host Lyndon "LB" Byers dies at 61

Former Boston Bruin and radio host Lyndon "LB" Byers has died, the team confirmed on Saturday. He was 61 years old. Born in Saskatchewan, Byers was drafted by the Bruins in 1982 and played nine seasons with the team from 1983 to 1992. He then played one season with the San Jose Sharks before leaving the NHL in 1993. He finished his hockey career by playing more than two seasons in the now-defunct International Hockey League. During his NHL career, he amassed 24 points and 1,081 penalty minutes. "Lyndon was a fan favorite across his nine seasons in the black and gold thanks to his rugged, rough-and-tumble style and was a key cog on the B's teams that made trips to the Stanley Cup final in 1988 and 1990," the Bruins said in a statement posted on Facebook, where they said they were "deeply saddened" by his death. "Lyndon became a true Bostonian and we will miss him dearly. He is forever a part of our Bruins family." After retiring from hockey, Byers spent more than 20 years as a radio host on WAAF before quitting in 2019. He also made several appearances on the TV show "Rescue Me," starring Bruins fan and Worcester native Denis Leary, as well as cameos in the movies "Shallow Hal" and "Stuck On You." Byers is survived by his wife, Annie, and son, Will. A cause of death was not given.
