‘National Award uthane ke liye ek haath hi kaafi hai': Shah Rukh Khan's swagger at The Ba***ds of Bollywood preview draws thunderous applause. Watch

Three decades after making his film debut, Shah Rukh Khan finally clinched his first National Film Award for Best Actor this year for his performance in director Atlee Kumar's Jawan (2023). However, the victory sparked a massive debate as well, with many opining that he didn't deserve the trophy for the star vehicle, while others expressed happiness over the win, claiming it was long overdue.
On Wednesday, SRK took the stage for the preview launch of The Ba***ds of Bollywood and spoke about his injury. 'I injured my shoulder and had a little surgery. It wasn't that small to be honest; it was a bit big. So it will take me a month or two to recover. Lekin National Award uthane ke liye mera ek haath hi kaafi hain (But to pick up the National Award, one hand is enough for me),' he said, which opened to thunderous applause. SRK sustained the injury while shooting for his upcoming movie King. He also shared that his injury might take two months to heal properly.
He added, 'Actually, I can do most things with just one hand. I can eat food, brush, and scratch if my back itches. There is only one thing that I miss when I can't use both my hands: embracing the love of all of you.'
Charisma level: King Khan. Wit level: unbeatable. One hand enough to lift a National Award, one presence enough to own the stage. 👑🔥@iamsrk @RedChilliesEnt @NetflixIndia @BilalS158#ShahRukhKhan #SRK #AryanKhan #Netflix #TheBadsOfBollywood #TheBadsOfBollywoodOnNetflix pic.twitter.com/P68dRS2efO

Recalling when Aryan approached him, expressing the desire to create a show on Bollywood that would be 'raw, edgy and a bit mad', Shah Rukh jokingly wondered, 'Is he putting Mannat's CCTV footage on YouTube?' He mentioned that although it took him a while to catch the tone of the show, he was drawn entirely in once he felt its essence.
In Jawan, SRK starred alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Priyamani, as well as Deepika Padukone in a cameo appearance. SRK played dual roles in Jawan, as Captain Vikram Rathore and his son Azad Rathore. Grossing Rs 1,160 crore worldwide against an estimated budget of Rs 300 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie went on to become the the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

When Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood actor Lakshya spoke about him after Kill screening: ‘Perfect example of…'

Like Shanaya Kapoor, Lakshya is one newcomer whose Bollywood debut kept getting pushed. He was initially going to begin his journey with Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan's Dostana 2, but the project was shelved. Karan Johar then announced Lakshya as one of the leads, alongside Shanaya, in Bedhadak. But that film was also shelved. In 2024, Lakshya finally made his Bollywood debut with Kill, leaving a lasting impression on audiences. Up next, he will be seen as the hero of Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. But what does Lakshya think of Shah Rukh Khan's son? Aryan Khan with Lakshya and Mona Singh A year ago, during an interview with Fever FM, Lakshya opened up about his friend and now director Aryan Khan. When asked if he has ever felt a difference between nepo and non-nepo artists, Lakshya shared, 'Difference I think bahar waale log zyaada banate hain. Andar kuchh hai nahi. Because aadhe toh mere dost hi hain saare. Janhvi (Kapoor), Shanaya (Kapoor), Ananya (Panday), Agastya (Nanda). Aur itne sahi log hain naa yeh. Itne correct hain, koi complications nahi hai, koi insecurities nahi hain. Apna kaam karte hain aur tameesdaar log hain. Aryan (Khan) humaare dost hain. Aryan was there in the screening and I made him meet my parents. And my father said 'He doesn't look like he's Shah Rukh Khan's son'. Like woh pair wair (proceeded to make the gesture of touching feet), matlab he's just a perfect example of how a boy should be.' Raghav Juyal, who was the villain of Kill and will be seen as Lakshya's best friend in Aryan's show, chimed in and added, 'Bohot tehzeeb, usse naa bohot culture diya hua hai Aryan ko.' Well, clearly Aryan not only won his star cast over with a well-written show, but also his charming personality. Also starring Bobby Deol and Sahher Bambba in the lead with epic cameos by Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar, Aryan's show The Ba***ds of Bollywood is set to arrive on Netflix on September 18.

In Canacona, artisans work overtime to get Ganesh idols ready

Canacona: With a week away, artisans have been spending extra hours on final touches of their handcrafted idols. The festival will begin on Aug 27. Canacona has at least 40 'chitrashalas' or workshops that begin preparations to mould Ganesha idols at the beginning of June. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Manoj Prabhugaonkar, based at Mashem, said that he learnt the art of sculpting idols from his father and wants to pass on the knowledge to his son. His workshop has over 200 idols in different shapes and sizes drying on shelves. 'The last stage is painting the idols,' said Prabhugaonkar , adding that he hired 8-10 labourers from the neighbouring state to meet the high demand. The workshops in the taluka provide seasonal employment to hundreds of workers who are either from Canacona or from the neighbouring Karwar taluka in Karnataka. Due to scarcity and high cost of labour, some artisans prefer help from other family members. Goa govt reimburses Rs 100 per idol as subsidy to artisans which is not enough, considering the high labour expense, cost of clay, etc.
