I know the hidden meaning of secret codes on Aldi shelf labels and it help reveals whether items will be discontinued

A SAVVY shopper has lifted the lid on a secret Aldi code that shows when products are about to vanish from shelves for good. Jordon Cox, known online as @Couponkiduk, shared the trick on Instagram after spotting a clue hidden on the supermarket's digital price tags. 2 Jordon Cox revealed a secret letter to look out for in Aldi Credit: Instagram/ @Couponkiduk 2 He says the supermarket code could tell you if the product is discontinued Credit: Instagram/ @Couponkiduk The coupon king has previously revealed his secret tricks on how to crack supermarket codes and find hidden savings on shelves. This time he pointed shoppers towards a hidden letter that'll reveal whether or not an item is to be discontinued. He said if the label has a capital 'D' printed in the top right corner, it means the item is discontinued. Once it sells out, it won't be restocked, so fans of the product should act fast. Jordon explained: 'When shopping, look closely at the product labels. If you see a D in the top right corner, that item's being discontinued when it's sold out. "So you might want to stock up when you're next at Aldi.' Aldi has built a reputation for its Specialbuys, which are bargain ranges of everything from kitchen gadgets to garden furniture, that arrive weekly but disappear as soon as shelves are cleared. The aisle has become a cult shopping destination in its own right, filled with limited-edition items that rarely return once sold out. Lidl runs a similar concept, meaning shoppers across the UK have learned the golden rule: if you spot something you like, grab it there and then. Upcoming Specialbuys are advertised in-store booklets and on Aldi's website, with exact dates for when they will land. All upcoming 'Aldi Finds' in the middle aisle next week – including portable chargers, power toothbrushes & dryer balls This week's line-up includes new dinner sets and kitchen essentials, but previous hits have ranged from cut-price Bosch tool dupes to hot tubs and patio sets. Aldi has also revealed the best times to shop this summer to avoid crowds and get first dibs on Specialbuys. The discounter says mornings between 8am and 10am are often the quietest, while Thursdays and Sundays are the key days for new middle-aisle stock. Arriving early on those days gives bargain hunters the best chance of nabbing the most sought-after deals. Late afternoons between 4pm and 5pm, and evenings from 8pm to 10pm, are also good times to shop if the aim is to dodge queues. Shoppers heading in later at night might also find discounts on bakery, meat and deli goods, with red sticker reductions of up to 75% applied to items close to their best-before date. Woking care home sold by developer to Lidl, council says

A council site bought by a developer to be used as a care home has been sold on to a supermarket instead, the local authority Borough Council (WBC) said following an open market sales process, the former Brockhill site had been bought by developer Frontier Estates for a new care the site has now been sold on to supermarket chain Lidl, the local authority said the site presented "an exciting opportunity to bring forward a new chapter for the location" and that there was "a clear and growing need for a discount supermarket in the area". The supermarket added: "We're currently assessing next steps and will continue to keep the local community informed as plans progress."Frontier Estates has also been contacted for a said the site was still designated in its local plan for specialist residential Barker, WBC's leader, said the council was clear throughout the sales process that it wanted the site to continue to be used for accommodation for older and vulnerable residents. She added: "Frontier Estates is a recognised provider of bespoke care facilities and had shared proposals for an 86-bed care home."Heads of terms for the land purchase were developed and signed on that basis."Although other offers were received, they did not support the retention of the site for specialist residential accommodation, the leader said."Frontier's offer represented both the strongest financial return and a written intention to develop a new care home facility in accordance with our planning policies," Barker added."Although Frontier has sold its interest in the site to Lidl, this change in ownership does not alter the planning status of the site."Barker said any new proposal must reflect the council's adopted planning policies, which support the site's retention for specialist residential accommodation.

Lidl is selling a handy gardening gadget for £140 less than a Tesco version – it will leave your home looking pristine

THE end of summer doesn't have to mean the end of gardening season. In fact, a certain task is usually carried out during the colder months and on into spring. 2 Gardening experts advise against trimming your hedges during nesting season, which typically occurs from March to August. So the arrival of autumn means it's time to get those hedges under control. And thankfully, Lidl shoppers can snap up savings on a new long-range trimmer. The Parkside Long-Reach Hedge Trimmer will hit the middle aisle for just £59.99 on Sunday, 24 August. And it's even better news for those with Lidl Plus as they can avail of a £10 off offer on this buy, making it just £49.99. Product details Designed for trimming hedges up to 3.5 metres high, this power tool is described as "great for easily cutting back ground cover". It consists of a powerful 710W motor and high-quality metal gears, with a quality blade made from laser-cut special steel and an aluminium guide rail. And while you must be over 18 to purchase this gadget, it is designed to be user-friendly, with tool-free adjustment of the cutting angle. You can select up to nine positions, with a total span 180°, and a five-way adjustable handle that features a safety switch. An extension piece allows for an extra 60cm on top of the cutting length of 41cm. Wake up to a weed-free lawn for months thanks to Aldi's £10 gadget that pulls them out without bending or kneeling down Meanwhile, the 3m power cable allows for flexibility in use with integrated strain relief. The trimmer is designed to cut through branches that measure up to 15mm in diameter. It can be adjusted for space-saving storage and transportation and comes with an adjustable shoulder strap and carabiner, a protective blade cover, and safety glasses. Lidl customers who purchase this gadget will receive a three-year warranty. But hurry if you want to avail of the Lidl Plus discount, as it is only available until Saturday, 30 August. Tesco buy Meanwhile, a similar buy is available from Tesco, but at a significantly higher price. The Gtech HT50 Long Reach Cordless Hedge Trimmer is currently listed for £189.99. While this gadget may be more expensive, it does bare a lot of differences from the Lidl version. With a 53cm blade, this trimmer does not have a cord and boasts a 60 minute runtime and is designed to cut branches measuring up to 25mm in diameter. However, the Tesco version does not come out on top for all features, falling just short of the Lidl buy's full reach.
