Irvine Meadow handed tricky Scottish Cup preliminary round one tie
Irvine Meadow have been handed a challenging Scottish Cup preliminary round one clash as they host Johnstone Burgh.
The fixture sees Medda boss Jamie McKim take on his former club - something he did last season when they were edged out on penalties in the Scottish Junior Cup quarter-finals.
The tie is scheduled for the weekend of August 9 and should the Medda progress, they would face an away day at either East of Scotland Premier Division side Whitburn or amateur outfit Steins Thistle on August 30 with the winner then reaching the first round proper.
The Meadow Park side enjoyed a prolonged run in the Scottish Cup last term, making it to the third round before being knocked out by SPFL League One side Stenhousemuir.
McKim's side get their West of Scotland Football League Division One campaign up and running on Saturday when they play host to Muirkirk Juniors.

The Dons will have plenty of cup competition this season. They face Morton in the cup and then turn their attention to their Europa League play-off first-leg on Thursday. Jensen admitted it was a big factor in him making the move to Pittodrie in January. He had never played in Europe before and the nearest he had come was being a ball boy when he was in the youth ranks at Midtjylland. 'It's exciting,' the Dane stated. 'It's kind of what I expected when I signed here. 'All the boys wanted it and that is what the club was aiming for, so it's going to be good to play those games and it's going to be interesting to face teams from all over Europe. I look forward to it.' Jensen has already been doing his homework and took in the FCSB and Drita games to see who the Dons would be playing. Regardless of what happens, Aberdeen are guaranteed European group stage football, either in the Europa League or dropping down to the Conference League. Jensen is hoping it will be in the Europa League and would love a return to Denmark in the group stage. He said: 'That could be fun, that would be fun. If we do that and we can face a Danish opponent it will of course be funny for me.' Jimmy Thelin signed the 23-year-old from Brommapojkarna back in January. He has proved a big success and has established himself as one of Aberdeen's top performers. Jensen enjoyed his first season in Scotland, especially as it ended with the Scottish Cup. He is looking to kick on and to get even better both personally and in helping Aberdeen kick-on to the next level. He stated: 'I think it's just to be better every day and to try to be more consistent than we were last season. So just trying to be better every day and grow. 'Everyone has to grow as an individual and as a team and if we kind of have that mentality inside our team. I think we're going to be more consistent and it's going to get better day by day. 'Instead of being very good in the start of the season we maybe can be better and better throughout the season. So that's maybe the goal to be more consistent and get better and better.' Meanwhile Thelin is trying to add to his Aberdeen squad before the play-off game. Aberdeen have agreed a deal with AC Milan for striker Marko Lazetic while Varnamo winger Kenan Bilalovic has arrived this evening. A deal for Lazetic is a given ahead of Thursday and it's now down to visas and red tape whether they can feature in their Euro opener next week. It is down to the authorities and that can take days or weeks.

Rooney, sacked by Birmingham in January 2024 after less than three months in charge, said he was 'really disappointed with the comment' on his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, which launches on Friday. NFL great Brady, who became a minority shareholder at Birmingham in August 2023, said he was 'a little worried about our head coach's work ethic' during a documentary after visiting Blues' training ground the following November. Former England captain Rooney said he was 'really disappointed' at the seven-time Super Bowl winner's criticism. Speaking via his new show on the BBC, the ex-Everton and Manchester United striker said: 'I think Tom came in once, which was the day before a game where the days are a little bit lighter anyway, and I don't think he really understood football that well. 'But what he does understand is – he's a hard worker – we know that.' Rooney added: 'Football is not NFL – NFL works for three months a year. Players do need rest as well, so I think he's very unfair, the way he's come out and portrayed that.' Birmingham were bought out by American consortium Knighthead Capital Management in the summer of 2023 and Brady became a shareholder two months later. Rooney was sacked following 15 matches after Blues had slipped to 20th in the Sky Bet Championship and the club were relegated at the end of the 2023-24 season. Under current boss Chris Davies, Birmingham bounced straight back to the second tier as League One champions last season with an English Football League record points tally of 111.

Carabao Cup: Huddersfield stun Leicester in shootout drama, Birmingham beat Blades
The goalkeeper Lee Nicholls was the hero for Huddersfield, who overcame Championship opponents Leicester via a penalty shootout after an entertaining 2-2 Carabao Cup first-round draw at the League One club's Accu Stadium. Huddersfield started strongly and Ruben Roosken and David Kasumu both had strong penalty shouts turned down early on after both appeared to be tripped inside the box. Again Huddersfield found a response, with the youngster Cameron Ashia claiming his second goal in two games by curling a fantastic effort into the top corner.
