One dead in fatal Greenville car crash
Two eyewitnesses to the crash reported that a white Dodge Charger was allegedly speeding and using the center turn lane as a travel lane when they merged into traffic and collided with a blue Nissan. The Nissan was leaving the parking lot of the Family Dollar on Greenville Boulevard at the time of the crash.
Greenville resident, 24 year old Jalen Elijah Wright, was the only occupant of the Nissan. He was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived.
The three people inside the Dodge sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to ECU Health for further treatment.
The Greenville Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.

A retail store in the heart of downtown Greenville was damaged overnight when a truck smashed into it. According to Greenville Police Department Sgt. Diana Munoz, the truck rammed into the Lululemon at 600 South Main St., at about 3:44 a.m., on Aug. 19. Two men then ran into the Lululemon and stole about $4,600 worth of merchandise. Munoz said the police department received a report about two men reversing a Home Depot rental truck into the store. The first officer arrived at the scene at 3:45 a.m. after the men fled. Serious injuries reported in wrong-way crash on Lodge Freeway in Detroit, police say
The Michigan State Police is investigating a wrong-way crash on Lodge Freeway in Detroit that left "some" passengers hospitalized on Sunday, according to the agency. The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Grand River Avenue. Investigators say a 27-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Impala was driving northbound in the southbound lanes and hit a Nissan passenger car head-on. The impact allegedly caused several other crashes involving five vehicles. "Some of [the] passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment," Michigan State Police said in a post on X Sunday morning. The man driving the Impala showed signs of impairment at the scene, according to police. Troopers requested that a blood draw be performed on him.

Two car crash in Solano County kills one person, injures several
One person was killed and several injured in a two car crash on Highway 12 in Solano County on Friday, the CHP said. The crash occurred at 5:03 p.m. when the driver of a tan Toyota Camry tried to pass a big-rig in the eastbound lanes of Highway 12 west of Highway 13 in Rio Vista, according to CHP Sgt. P. Crow. The driver swerved, lost control and entered the westbound lanes of Highway 12 where the Toyota was struck by an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder. The Toyota driver died at the scene and the passengers in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. KCRA-TV reported that the Nissan was carrying four occupants. The highway remained closed as the CHP investigated the crash. Lanes reopened at about 9:30 p.m.
