Preparation for HAWANA 2025 celebration reaches 80%
KUALA LUMPUR: Preparation for the June 14 National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2025 celebration has reached 80 per cent, said Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
She said preparations are actively underway by Bernama staff to ensure everything goes as planned.
'In fact, this evening, we will meet again to ensure this year's event will again be successful and run smoothly, thus meeting the expectations and satisfaction of those who will be attending,' she said when met by reporters after the HAWANA 2025-Bernama Strategic Partners' Appreciation Ceremony and Official Launch of BERNAMA Motorhome at Wisma Bernama here.
The event was officiated by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Also present were Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, who is also the director of the HAWANA 2025 Project; as well as members of Bernama's top management.
Nur-ul Afida, who is also the HAWANA 2025 Working Committee chairman, also expressed her appreciation to its 79 strategic partners, comprising ministries, departments, agencies and companies who are committed to making the HAWANA 2025 highlight and side programmes a success.
'I'm extremely grateful for the support and cooperation from our strategic partners, with the number of sponsors for this year's edition seeing a significant increase to almost 80 from 44 last year.
'This is proof that our strategic partners recognise the role played by Bernama, as the implementing agency of HAWANA 2025 under the Ministry of Communications, and also acknowledging the role and experience of media practitioners in our country,' she said.
Themed 'Journalism in the New Era: Embracing AI, Safeguarding Ethics', the HAWANA 2025 celebration will be held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL) from June 13 to 15, with the highlight celebration on June 14 being officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
More than 1,000 media practitioners, representatives of local journalist associations and media delegates from ASEAN member states are expected to attend, bringing together the professional media fraternity and industry experts to exchange ideas and forge strategic partnerships.

MACC joins Hawana 2025 as strategic partner, funds key media gathering
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has become the first enforcement agency to be named a strategic partner for the National Journalists Day (Hawana) 2025. MACC Strategic Communications Division (BKS) Director Hisyam Mohd Yusoff said the sponsorship is a sign of support to media agencies for their role in disseminating information to the nation. "Although this is the first time MACC is involved in Hawana as a strategic partner, moving forward, this marks a step towards strengthening collaboration between the commission and media agencies," Hisyam said in a statement today. Representing MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, Hisyam handed over a mock cheque worth RM31,000 to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who officiated the event on June 3. A total of 79 government and private organisations have joined as strategic partners for Hawana 2025. Among them were the Malaysia Technology Development Corporation, Federal Land Development Authority, Ministry of Human Resources, Department of Veterinary Services, Malaysia Innovation Foundation, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, and the National Art Gallery. The Hawana 2025 celebration, organised by the Ministry of Communications through Bernama, will be held from June 13 to 15 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).

BUSINESS From Kisho Kumari Sucedaram HUANGSHAN, June 5 (Bernama) -- Stronger grassroots implementation, simplified processes for businesses, and closer public–private partnerships are key to unlocking the full potential of regional trade pacts, according to ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn. Kao was referring to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA). He said the frameworks of both are complementary and critical in expanding market access, fostering resilient supply chains and enhancing regional competitiveness. 'Strong public–private partnerships are essential not only to help businesses integrate into regional value chains, but also to support them in scaling up operations and contributing to more responsive policymaking,' he said at the 2025 RCEP Local Governments and Friendship Cities Cooperation (Huangshan) Forum held here today. Kao also noted that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the backbone of the ASEAN economy, often face barriers in accessing financing and navigating complex regulations. In this regard, he encouraged local authorities to support MSMEs through targeted outreach, advisory services and simplified administrative processes. He commended the proactive efforts of cities and local governments in facilitating trade adoption through policy dialogues, capacity building and incentive schemes that are essential for helping businesses navigate technical trade rules and realise the benefits of both RCEP and ACFTA.
