1-2 Special described the movie as a trademark Jude black comedy paying tribute to one of cinema's greatest legends and featuring 'vampires, zombies, blood, sex, AI images and car chases'.
The Locarno premiere will mark Jude's second major festival outing this year, after Kontinental '25, which won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at this year's Berlinale. The acquisition continues 1-2 Special's relationship with Jude after it acquired the latter film out of Berlin.
'I am very happy and extremely grateful that Dracula will be brought to American audiences. One can say 'brought back', since this myth circled the world and the American cinema changed it so many times,' said Jude.
'I hope it is now time to see the myth wearing new clothes, made in the heart of real Transylvania. When I am asked who is Dracula in the film, I always reply that the film itself is Dracula. I would also add that this film is my humble homage to some great American underrated auteurs: Ed Wood, Andy Warhol and the Fluxus filmmakers.'
Jude's previous work includes Golden Bear-winner Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn and Aferim!, which won the Silver Bear for Best Director.
Dracula is produced by Romania's Saga Film, with Austria's Nabis Filmgroup, Luxembourg's Paul Thiltges Distribution, Brazil's RT Features, Luxembourg's Samsa Film, Switzerland's Bord Cadre Films, the UK's Sovereign Films and Romania's MicroFILM.
The deal was negotiated by Luxbox on behalf of the filmmakers with 1-2 Special.

3 Nineties Winona Ryder Looks To Steal For 2025 – From Grunge Glamour To Red-Carpet Minimalism
Winona Ryder graces the cover of ELLE UK this month. A true style icon, the actor has always mastered that elusive balance between rebellious and refined dressing, making her one of the most enduring fashion muses of the Nineties and beyond. In celebration of her timeless style, we've rounded up three of her most iconic 1990s outfits and reimagined them for 2025. From red-carpet moments to off-duty airport chic, these looks feel just as relevant today as they did then, proving that good style never goes out of fashion. At the Eyes Wide Shut premiere party in 1999, Ryder embodied late-Nineties minimalism in a sheer black slip dress, arm cuff and kitten-heeled mules. It was a look that whispered rather than shouted; a quietly provocative, effortlessly cool ensemble. For 2025, we're recreating this barely-there elegance with a sheer, bias-cut slip that nods to Ryder's original. Pair it with kitten heels – chic, sensible, and a nostalgic throwback to Nineties party style that won't kill your feet by midnight. Add a hint of glint with a sculptural cuff-style bracelet or two, paired with matching earrings. Ryder's 1992 Dracula premiere look, an iridescent blue skirt suit complete with broderie anglaise trim and an in-built corset, was a masterclass in power dressing. This is a look you could lift wholesale for 2025 – the ruffle and lace detail falls just on the right side of coquettish, especially when styled simply with just a pair of slingback heels and a simple necklace. Or, you could channel that same cool confidence with a contemporary twist, swapping corseted tailoring for a boxy jacket and matching skirt. Either way, like Ryder then (and now), you'll look smart, subversive and subtly glamorous. Tailoring has always been a key part of Ryder's style, whether on the red carpet or off-duty. This oversized blazer and cropped trouser combo, which she wore for a flight into LAX, is effortless, a little grunge and timeless. Whether you're airport-bound or running errands, this is Ryder's signature brand of nonchalant chic that turns heads without ever trying too hard. Copy her original 1990s 'fit with a menswear-inspired blazer worn over an oversized white tee (dinosaur suitcase optional), or channel Ryder's ELLE cover shoot with something a little more tailored, worn with lashings of gold jewellery. ‘The View' co-host describes Harris interview as ‘microcosm of everything that's wrong' with Dem Party
Advertisement 'The View' co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin described former Vice President Kamala Harris' interview with Stephen Colbert as a 'microcosm' of everything that's wrong with the Democratic Party after the party lost in 2024. 'I was struck by, I'm going to try not be too harsh on this. This interview felt like a microcosm of everything that's wrong with Democrats post-election. I'm going to CBS and this sort of trying to make a point that they fired Stephen Colbert, which many on the left called an attack on democracy, a man who was making $20 million a year, someone I hold in high esteem, but the economics of his show were not working,' Griffin said during an appearance on CNN's 'Table for Five' on Saturday. CBS announced in July that they would be ending Colbert's late-night show at the end of the next broadcast season, citing financial reasons. However, Colbert's liberal allies believe the cancellation was political, as it came days after he criticized CBS' parent company, Paramount, for settling with President Donald Trump. Advertisement 4 Griffin said Harris decision to appear on Colbert was like 'announcing your exploratory committee on the sinking deck of the Titanic.' CNN 'He was losing $40 million a year. He was in the Ed Sullivan Theater, which is expensive, to talk about the plight of democracy at CBS, a network that's having its own struggles right now, rather than talking about the economics of the situation and playing to something a shrinking audience that is network television, not realizing it's not where the American voters are,' Griffin, an anti-Trump Republican who voted for Harris in 2024, continued. Griffin said Harris' decision to appear on Colbert was like 'announcing your exploratory committee on the sinking deck of the Titanic.' 4 Kamala Harris waving on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. CBS via Getty Images Advertisement CNN data analyst Harry Enten dismissed Harris' comments during the interview about a broken system. 'Recently, I made the decision that I just – for now, I don't want to go back in the system. I think it's broken,' Harris told Colbert after he asked about her declining a potential California gubernatorial run. 4 Harris announced on Thursday she would be releasing a book on her failed 2024 campaign. CBS 'I just can't possibly believe that someone who was attorney general for a good period of time, a United States senator for a good period of time, and then vice president for four years and then ran for president, all of a sudden believes that the best way to solve it is from being outside the system. Oh, please. Not a chance on God's green earth that that's necessarily the case,' Enten said, reacting to Harris' remarks. Advertisement 'What's probably going on is she saw what the polling numbers were, perhaps for her running for governor of California. Yes, she has left open the idea that maybe she could run in 2028 for the Democratic nomination. But I'll tell you Abby, I've looked at those numbers. She would be the weakest front-runner since 1992. So the bottom line is this, she is looking at the numbers. She knows what's cooking. And then all of a sudden, you know what? Actually, this lifelong politician, I want to be outside the system. Give me a break,' the CNN data analyst added. 4 CBS announced in July that they would be ending Colbert's late-night show at the end of the next broadcast season, citing financial reasons. Harris, in a video posted to social media on Thursday, announced that her new book, titled '107 Days,' will be released in September and will provide details on what she calls 'the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.' 'I believe there's value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward,' Harris said.
