Siddaramaiah directs CS to issue notices to DDPIs for poor show in SSLC results
Mr. Siddaramaiah, who continued the review of progress of all department works for the second day on Saturday with all Deputy Commissioners and zilla panchayat chief executive officers (CEOs), asked Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to issue notices to the DDPIs. 'If their replies are not satisfactory, initiate further action against them,' the Chief Minister told Ms. Rajneesh. The DDPIs head the Education Department in districts and their supervisory role is vital in ensuring higher pass percentage of students.
Kalyana Karnataka
The pass percentage of students in government schools in the 2025 SSLC exam was below 60 in many districts. The seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka region recorded a dismal show in the examination, occupying the lowest ranks in the State. Of the bottom seven districts, six belong to the Kalyana Karnataka region, while the seventh, Vijayapura, from the Kittur Karnataka region, ranked 34th, just one place above the last.
Kalaburagi district has slipped to the bottom — 35th rank — with a pass percentage of just 42.43, far below the State average of 66.14%. Kalaburagi's decline has been consistent over the past three years, dropping from 29th place in 2023 to 34th in 2024, and now 35th in 2025.
The pass percentage in Vijayapura was 49.58, Yadgir 51.6, Raichur 52.05, Bidar 53.25, and Koppal 57.32. Notably, none of the 22 students in the State who achieved a perfect score of 625 out of 625 are from the Kalyana Karnataka region. Despite continued efforts by the Department of Public Instruction and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), the region continues to lag behind others in educational outcomes.
Noting good results in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, in contrast, the Chief Minister asked officials not to give excuses like teacher shortage.
Mr. Siddaramaiah asked officials in the backward Kalyana Karnataka region to provide extra attention to SSLC results. He said a sum of ₹906.64 crore was released to build new classrooms under the Viveka scheme. He questioned the Deputy Commissioners of districts where classrooms have not been completed despite fund release. 'Why are DCs not showing interest?' he asked.
Visit schools
'The DDPIs should shoulder their responsibilities seriously. The DDPIs, along with secretaries in charge of districts, must visit schools and review the performance of teachers. 'If teachers and the DDPIs show interest, then good results can be achieved,' the Chief Minister said.
Noting the falling admissions in government schools, he said, 'This is not a good development. The government is supplying eggs, milk, ragi malt, and soap, and providing hostel facility. Still, why are admissions falling?' he sought to know.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said there was a need for teachers and officials to hold talks with parents and stop students from dropping out from schools.

BENGALURU: A government-appointed judicial committee has exonerated Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and his wife BM Parvathi in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (Muda) scam, after opposition BJP claimed irregularities and a loss of around Rs 4,000 crore to the exchequer through fraudulent land allotments. The one-member panel headed by retired high court judge Justice PN Desai submitted its six-volume report to chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh, nearly a year after it was formed. A senior MLA familiar with the report's contents said Thursday the panel found no illegality in the allotment of 14 alternative sites to Siddaramaiah's wife in exchange for 3 acres acquired by Muda in Kesare village of Mysuru. The panel rejected allegations of misuse of office and ruled out any involvement of the CM in wider allotment irregularities. The findings mark a relief for Siddaramaiah, who already secured legal reprieve in July when Supreme Court dismissed a special leave petition filed by ED. The agency had challenged a Karnataka HC order quashing its notice to Parvathi and cabinet minister Byrathi Suresh. Earlier this year, Karnataka Lokayukta had cleared Siddaramaiah of wrongdoing. CM tells police chief to crack down on black marketing of fertilizers
Blaming the Centre's policy for the shortage of urea and Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) during the ongoing kharif season in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday instructed Director-General and Inspector-General of Police M.A. Saleem to keep vigilance to prevent the sale of fertilizers on the black market. Despite the Central government's inaction, the State government is taking necessary steps to ensure supply of fertilizers so that farmers are not inconvenienced during the sowing season, he said. Mr. Siddaramaiah has instructed the police chief to keep a close watch on black marketeers who are trying to create a shortage of fertilizers by illegally hoarding and selling it on the black market. 'There should be no artificial shortage of fertilizers in the district, taluk, or hobli,' the Chief Minister said, and instructed the police to keep a close watch on those who are creating shortages. While the BJP accused the government of mismanaging the available stock of fertilizers, the Congress termed the BJP claims of the Centre supplying adequate quantities of urea as 'false.' On Thursday, the Chief Minister met Ministers and Congress legislators of Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Gagad, Haveri, Shivamogga, Davangere, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, and Chickballapur. During three days, he met Ministers and MLAs of all districts and heard their grievances related to funds and development works.

Karnataka announces Rs 1,000 crore Quantum Mission, VC fund for startups
Agencies The Karnataka government on Wednesday launched a Rs 1,000 crore Quantum Mission with a vision to build a $20 billion quantum economy by 2035. Chief minister Siddaramaiah said a Quantum Technology Task Force will guide policy, while dedicated quantum parks, manufacturing zones, and Q-City will foster innovation in the state. The state will also launch a Quantum Venture Capital Fund to back over 100 startups and help generate 100 patents to create two lakh jobs in the sector. Siddarmaiah said with a vision to be the 'Quantum Capital of Asia,' Karnataka's roadmap is built on the five pillars of talent development, research and development (R&D) pilots, infrastructure, industry support, and global partnerships. He was speaking during the two-day Quantum India Bengaluru 2025 summit, co-organised by the Department of Science & Technology and IISc. In its Quantum roadmap, Karnataka also announced the establishment of India's first Quantum Hardware Park, four innovation zones, and a dedicated fabrication facility to boost domestic manufacturing of quantum components.'By 2035, we aim to create 10,000 high-skilled jobs and establish Karnataka as the Quantum Capital of Asia,' the CM emphasised. To foster a holistic ecosystem, the state government will also introduce quantum skilling programmes in 20 colleges and 150 PhD state government aims to develop 1,000-qubit quantum processors and pilot applications in healthcare, cybersecurity, and defence, with active applications in governance. The state's science and technology minister, NS Boseraju, said a quantum chip fabrication capability will be operational by the initiative comes at a time when 2025 is being observed globally as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. CM Siddarmaiah stressed that quantum tech will not only drive economic growth but also improve governance, secure communication, smarter agriculture, and early disease added that the state government has already demonstrated its commitment to this technology by establishing a Quantum Research Park at IISc, Bengaluru. This facility has supported over 55 R&D projects and 13 startups while training more than 1,000 quantum experts annually.
