Sophie Monk's husband Josh Gross reveals what it's REALLY like to be married to one of Australia's most famous women

Sophie Monk 's husband Josh Gross has opened up about what life is really like when your partner is one of the most recognisable faces in the country. The American-born tech entrepreneur, who married the Love Island host in 2022, told Daily Mail Australia he's happily embraced life in the background – swapping boardrooms for beach shoots and robotics for red carpets. 'I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. One minute I'm working from home, next I'm on the Gold Coast filming a movie or in Spain filming Love Island,' Josh began. 'Life with Soph is never dull and I wouldn't change a thing.' Josh, who met Sophie on a long-haul flight from Europe to Australia in 2018, said the transition into fame-by-association wasn't something he planned. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I don't really live my life in the spotlight. That's the beauty of being behind the camera. I've always liked it that way, supporting from the background and capturing the moments,' he said. While he prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Josh has unwittingly become a familiar face on red carpets and social media – often spotted snapping glamorous photos of his famous wife. 'Sophie is incredibly beautiful and photogenic, so if the photo isn't great, it's on me,' he quipped. 'She's got a sixth sense for her best side, and I've got a mental checklist every time I pull out the phone. Lighting matters – golden hour is magic,' he said. 'Don't be afraid to crouch, climb or contort to get the shot. With the right phone camera, you can nail it on the first try – and rack up serious brownie points too.' He also revealed a little known fact about his reality TV star wife. 'What you see is what you get with Soph... I think she's a lot funnier than what people realise. She's my best friend and we laugh a lot,' Josh said. Despite the scrutiny that often comes with dating a celebrity, Josh says the public have only ever shown warmth towards Sophie – and to him by extension. While he prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Josh has unwittingly become a familiar face on red carpets and social media – often spotted snapping glamorous photos of his famous wife Sophie and Joshua wed in a private ceremony at their Central Coast, NSW home in 2022. Speaking to Stellar Magazine, Sophie called the small wedding 'beautiful and relaxed'. She added that she chose to have a wedding at home to keep things 'stress-free' while Joshua called their private home 'our sanctuary' and was glad to make wedding memories that will last a lifetime there. Another reason they chose to have a wedding on their own was because Sophie was happy to keep the guest list to a bare minimum. 'We figured, if you don't invite one person, then no-one could get upset,' she told Stellar. She designed her own dress, and gave J'Aton Couture just two weeks to create it based off her own sketches. The couple first met on a flight from Europe to Australia in August 2018 and shared a kiss after enjoying 'three champagnes' in business class.

Mary Fowler is cruelly trolled for supporting brain cancer charity - before they are firmly put back in their place

Matildas star Mary Fowler has been attacked online for supporting a highly popular brain cancer charity. The Manchester City forward shared an image online supporting the Mark Hughes Foundation, wearing one of the charity's distinctive blue beanies and urging her followers to purchase one as well. 'Got myself a new cute beanie in preparation for the NRL Beanie for Brain Cancer Round coming up at the end of June,' she posted. 'The team at the Mark Hughes Foundation are doing incredibly impactful work to help those in need. 'If you'd like to show your support, you can purchase a beanie following the link in my BIO.' Mark Hughes is a former NRL star who played 161 games for the Newcastle Knights, scoring 66 tries, winning two premierships and representing New South Wales in State of Origin during his career. In 2013, aged 36, he was diagnosed with brain cancer, a life-altering event that inspired him and his wife Kirralee to start the Mark Hughes Foundation in 2014. The Mark Hughes Foundation focuses on raising funds for brain cancer research, supporting patient care, and increasing awareness of the disease. One of its flagship events is the annual "Beanie for Brain Cancer" campaign, with over one million beanies sold and tens of millions of dollars donated to research and support programs. Building on this, the NRL holds the Beanie for Brain Cancer Round in June, during which fans, players, and clubs wear beanies to raise funds - most recently generating $3.1million in 2024. Fowler's efforts to promote the 2025 event was met with cynicism by one follower, though, who accused her of doing it for the money. 'How much are rugby league (Mark Hughes foundation) paying you?' they asked with a laughing emoji to mock the Matildas star further. One of Fowler's more polite followers pointed out that she had a connection to the game through her partner, Panthers star Nathan Cleary. 'Her partner plays league you muppet,' they replied. One troll tried to belittle her efforts, prompting the Mark Hughes Foundation to clarify that she was not being paid to endorse the charity And the Mark Hughes Foundation itself also replied, clarifying that Fowler was not being paid to promote the good cause. 'To be really clear we offered to send Mary a Beanie in the aim of her posting and improving our sales,' the foundation's official Instagram account replied. 'Mary then graciously went online, brought 3 beanies and had them shipped to the UK. 'Posted, not only a story, which we get from most influencers but a post and even collaborated with us and added our link to her bio. Way above and beyond. 'Also we do not pay anyone to promote our beanies and the NRL support us by hosting the Beanie Round they do not, nor need to pay anyone to wear them.' Beanies are available online through the Foundation's official website, where this year's options include the bold Violet Chunky Knit and the timeless Classic Grey, both priced at $29. Fans attending Round 17 matches from June 26 to 29 can also buy beanies at the stadiums. In addition, participating retailers such as Lowes, selected IGA supermarkets, and some Woolworths stores are stocking the beanies nationwide. All proceeds go directly toward brain cancer research and patient support programs run by the Foundation.

Sister act: Whoopi Goldberg gives Super Netball a boost with global broadcast deal

Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg is taking Australian netball to the world with her new global sport television network dedicated exclusively to women's sport. Netball Australia and the All Women's Sport Network (AWSN) announced on Monday a multi-year broadcast deal to show Super Netball matches to more than 65 new countries. Goldberg said she was 'so proud' to see the Super Netball competition join AWSN. 'I think y'all are terrific,' she said in an Instagram video. 'I just watched you play and I see that your fans are really loving you, so we want to make sure that we put you everywhere in the world so that everybody knows about you.' Goldberg and AWSN co-founder George Chung launched the network at the end of 2024, with Goldberg saying her motivation for the project was sparked by seeing women's sport not receive the same coverage as their male counterparts. 'I knew that if I couldn't find these sports and watch the amazing female athletes playing them, others weren't finding them either,' she told Forbes at the time. 'I really hope shining a light on women's sports will help elevate female athletes around the world.' This article includes content provided by Instagram. Netball Australia's chief executive, Stacey West, acknowledged the opportunities the new partnership would bring the league and netball more broadly. 'This breakthrough deal puts netball on screens across the globe and cements our place at the forefront of women's sport,' West said. 'AWSN shares our vision of taking women's sport to new heights. Together, we're creating a platform for our athletes and game to shine like never before.' The response to the announcement was swift and positive, with former Diamond and AFLW player Sharni Layton commenting on Goldberg's video saying: 'This is next level. Netball is going [up].' Netball Australia chair and former Diamond Liz Ellis shared the video, adding that Super Netball was 'going places'. The partnership is inked through to 2027 and will result in 41 Super Netball matches being broadcast to the network's 900m-strong global audience. Other leagues featured on the network includes Australia's WNBL, as well as the WTA, Uefa Women's Nations League, Sweden's Damallsvenskan, European cricket, roller derby and softball. The WNBL joined the AWSN in November 2024, with then league boss, Christy Collier-Hill, saying: 'Reaching fans globally and showcasing our incredible athletes, clubs, and competition is a major milestone for the league.' It's a much needed win for Super Netball and Netball Australia, which have faced extensive off-court dramas in recent years, and will help to solidify the revival the sport is undergoing in Australia. The partnership also points to the continued growth of women's sport, and the business opportunities it offers.
