
Erbil and Duhok to host next stages of Iraqi Cycling League

Ali Hamid, President of the Iraqi Cycling Federation, stated that the technical conference for the third stage will take place on Thursday, with races kicking off on Friday, August 1. The first day's events include a 50 km team time trial for advanced and U-23 categories, followed by a 50 km individual time trial for youth. Junior and cadet categories will conclude the day with a 40 km individual time trial, featuring 5 km laps.
Hamid further detailed that the second and final day of the Erbil stage will begin with a 32 km individual road race for advanced and U-23 categories. This will be followed by a 25 km individual time trial for youth, concluding with a 50 km individual road race for juniors.
Following the events in Erbil, Duhok Governorate is set to host the fourth and final stage of the Cycling Clubs League between August 3 and 6. The technical conference in Duhok will be held on Sunday, with races commencing the following day.
The first day in Duhok will feature a 15 km individual time trial for cadets and juniors, followed by a 70 km individual road race against the clock for juniors. The day will conclude with a 90 km individual road race for advanced and U-23 categories. Hamid added that the second day in Duhok will host two races: a 30 km team time trial for juniors and a 100 km individual road race for cadets. The final day of the fourth stage will feature a single 150 km race for advanced and U-23 categories, bringing the league to its conclusion.

Erbil Clubs Cycling Championship kicks off
Baghdad - INA The third stage of the Iraqi Clubs Cycling League kicks off today, Friday, in Erbil Governorate, for the advanced and under-(23) age categories, as well as for youth, juniors, and cubs. The competition will continue until next Sunday, with the participation of more than twenty clubs representing the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the governorates. The head of the cycling federation, Dr. Ali Hamid, said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The first day's competitions include a team time trial race for a distance of (50 km) for the advanced and under-(23) age categories, while the second race will be for the youth category, for the same distance of (50 km). The competition will conclude with an individual time trial race for the junior and cubs categories, for a distance of (40 km) in turns, with (5) km for each turn." He added that "the activities of the second and final day will begin with a general individual race of (32 km) for the advanced and under (23) age categories, followed by an individual race against the clock for the youth category to cover a distance of (25 km), and the competitions of the second and final day will conclude with a general individual race of (50 km), which is for the junior category.

Iraq's youth football team draws tough group in upcoming Gulf Cup
Baghdad ( – Iraq's youth national football team has been placed in Group B for the upcoming Gulf Cup for Youth, following the draw conducted virtually today, Monday (July 28, 2025), via Zoom. The Iraqi team will face strong competition from Oman, Bahrain, and Egypt, while Group A consists of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Yemen.
