PHOENIX (AP) — San Diego Padres reliever Mason Miller was bringing the heat on Tuesday night. Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. returned the favor. Gurriel crushed a 103.9 mph fastball from Miller into the left-field seats for a two-run homer in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-all. It was the hardest hit pitch for a homer since MLB started pitch tracking in 2008. It was part of a two-homer night for Gurriel. The veteran also hit a two-run shot in the first inning. Suárez hits his 37th homer as Woo and the Mariners beat the White Sox 8-3
SEATTLE (AP) — Eugenio Suárez homered and Bryan Woo pitched seven sparkling innings, helping the Seattle Mariners beat the Chicago White Sox 8-3 on Tuesday night. Suárez hit a tiebreaking two-run shot in the fourth inning for his 37th homer of the season. It was his first homer since he was reacquired by Seattle in a trade with Arizona last week. Josh Naylor and Dominic Canzone also went deep for the Mariners in their fourth win in five games. Jorge Polanco finished with two hits and two RBIs. Woo (9-6) struck out nine in his first win since July 4. The right-hander has pitched at least six innings in his first 22 starts this season, a franchise record. Lenyn Sosa, Luis Robert Jr. and Colson Montgomery homered for Chicago in its second consecutive loss. Davis Martin allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits in five-plus innings.

Brandon Lowe, Jake Mangum drive the Rays' 7-run 4th inning in a 7-3 victory over the Angels
Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer and Jake Mangum had a two-run single during the Tampa Bay Rays' seven-run fourth inning in a 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. Yandy Díaz scored a run and drove in another during the decisive inning in Tampa Bay's third win in 13 games. Ryan Pepiot (7-9) yielded five hits and two earned runs while pitching into the sixth inning for Tampa Bay, snapping his five-start winless streak. Jo Adell homered and drove in all three runs for the Angels, who dropped to 6-6 on their 13-game homestand. Los Angeles' José Soriano (7-9) threw three hitless innings before the Rays demolished him in the fourth. After Díaz led off with the Rays' first hit, Lowe followed with his 20th homer on a 411-foot shot to center. Four of Tampa Bay's next five batters got hits, and Díaz added an RBI grounder in his second at-bat. Adell hit a two-run shot for his 23rd homer in the fifth, and he added an RBI single in the sixth. The Angels' fifth inning could have been much bigger, but Logan O'Hoppe was thrown out at home while trying to score from first on Christian Moore's double before Oswald Peraza got doubled off first on Bryce Teodosio's sharp lineout to Lowe.
