Man faces 81 charges in historic sexual assault investigation: Niagara police

Police say a Niagara Falls, Ont., man is facing 81 charges for alleged crimes against 16 young victims, including sexual assault and child pornography.
Niagara regional police say the 53-year-old man, who was previously arrested last November, is now facing dozens of new charges.
Police say the alleged offences occurred between 1991 and 2024 and involved 14 male and two female victims between the ages of eight and 17.

The charges include multiple counts of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person, as well as 34 child pornography-related charges.
Police say the investigation spanned eight months and revealed 'troubling' allegations against the accused, who used to work as a school bus driver in Niagara Falls.
Investigators believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.

'The scale and nature of the allegations are deeply troubling and highlight the profound impact such offences have on our community — particularly on vulnerable young people,' Niagara police Chief Bill Fordy said in a news release Thursday.

Authorities said Friday they have captured a man suspected in a shooting at a Montana bar that left four people dead and prompted a lockdown of a neighborhood. Cougar attacks mountain biker near Squamish

The BC Conservation Officer Service said it happened around 6:30 p.m., as the man was biking in the Alpine Capone area along Brohm Ridge, near Garibaldi Provincial Park. Officials say the cougar pursued the man and 'made contact,' then followed him for another 20 minutes. 1:52 Hunt for Whistler cougars continues The man walked backward holding his bike, and eventually was able to get the big cat to disengage by throwing rocks at it. The Conservation Officer Service said it remained unclear if one of the cougars from those incidents was involved int he attack. Anyone recreating in the backcountry is urged to take precautions including travelling in groups, making noise, leasing pets and carrying bear spray.

Car that killed boy in Mill Woods hit and run found at Edmonton auto body shop
More than a year after a 13-year-old boy was hit and left to die on a road in southeast Edmonton, police have found the vehicle believed to have been involved. The fatal crash happened at around 4 a.m. along 34th Avenue between Mill Woods Road East and 48th Street on May 29, 2024. Adam 'AJ' Edhi was riding his bike to his girlfriend's house before school — a visit he made almost every morning, his family said — when he was struck. His mom previously told Global News AJ had fallen asleep on Tuesday night and didn't get a chance to visit his girlfriend, Mylie Parsons, whom Lynch described as 'the best thing that ever happened' to her son.
