Overview
Bhairavam is a Telugu action drama featuring an ensemble cast led by Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Manchu Manoj, and Nara Rohith. With decent pre-release buzz and action-heavy promos, the film hit theatres today. While it delivers on some fronts, it doesn't quite fire on all cylinders.
Plot Summary
The story centers around childhood friends Gajapathi Varma (Manchu Manoj) and Varadha (Nara Rohith), whose bond is tested by the entry of Seenu (Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas), an orphan drawn into their lives after a pivotal incident. Conflict brews when a powerful minister (Sharath Lohithaswa) schemes to seize sacred temple land, enlisting a corrupt cop (Sampath Raj) to assist. What follows is a gripping descent into betrayal, violence, and fractured loyalties.
What Works
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance, showcasing emotional range and improved screen presence.
Nara Rohith impresses with his composed portrayal, adding subtlety and gravitas.
Manchu Manoj brings intensity and a menacing edge to his character, excelling in confrontational scenes.
The action choreography—particularly in the interval block and transformation scenes—is a major highlight for mass cinema fans.
Divya Pillai and supporting cast members like Sampath Raj deliver solid performances in well-defined roles.
What Doesn't
The plot is predictable, offering few surprises after the first act.
A slow-paced second half hampers momentum, with scenes that drag and lack emotional heft.
The central friendship is more told than shown, reducing emotional impact.
Female leads like Aditi Shankar and Aanandi are underutilized, with Aditi's role limited to songs and filler scenes.
The music lacks staying power, failing to elevate key moments.
Technical Aspects
Director Vijay Kanakamedala adapts the story from Garudan but struggles to fully realize its emotional and dramatic potential. A tighter screenplay and deeper character arcs might have strengthened the film's impact.
Hari K Vedantam's cinematography complements the action well, while Sricharan Pakala's background score adds emotion in key moments. However, the editing could have been sharper, particularly in the latter half.
Verdict
Bhairavam offers enough for fans of action dramas, thanks to its lead performances and well-crafted action sequences. However, the film is weighed down by a formulaic narrative, underdeveloped characters, and pacing issues. It's a passable watch if you're in the mood for a mass entertainer—just keep expectations in check.

'War 2' box office collection day 5 (LIVE): The Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR starrer starts slow has a slow start on Monday after a long weekend

'War 2' released in theatres on August 14, a day before Independence day and clashed at the box office with 'Coolie'. While it's one of the biggest clashes of movies, it's also a long three-day weekend which may end up in the favour of both the movies. While on the first day, 'War 2' was behind 'Coolie' as both the movies made Rs 51.5 crore and Rs 65 crore respectively. However, on day 2 which is Independence Day, 'War 2' performed better. Over the weekend the film has remained decent with more than Rs 30 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. War 2 Movie Review Despite lukewarm critical reviews and a mixed response from audiences online, the film's second-day performance has been impressive. According to Sacnilk, the day 2 collection of the film which saw growth due to Independence day, is Rs 56.50 crore. Thus, it has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within two days in all languages, according to Sacnilk. 'War 2' has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The Telugu version of the film also got a great response due to Jr NTR 's presence but on day 2 there was growth in the Hindi belt. Saiyaara, Mahavatar Narsimha help July become best month at box office; 2025 may be the highest grossing year with over Rs 12,000 cr

This year hasn't been as sparkling as what 2023 was at the Indian box office, but it's surely faring better than 2024. July has proved to be a lucky month for 2025, as it turned out to be the best performing month at the domestic box office this year. Its dominance has been primarily aided by the unexpected, unparalleled success of two films. Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has earned Rs 328 crore at the domestic box office so far, since its release exactly a month ago on July 18. It's projected to earn Rs 392 crore in India during its current run. It's already the highest grossing Indian romantic film of all time, as well as the highest grossing Indian film starring newcomers. Secondly, Ashwin Kumar's mythological animated film Mahavatar Narsimha, which has released in multiple languages across India — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam — has already earned Rs 202 crore at the domestic box office since its release on July 25. As per Ormax Media, it's projected to collect as much as Rs 259 crore during its current run. Backed by Hombale Films, it's already the highest grossing Indian animated film. Both Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha accounted for a combined share of 45% of Rs 1,430 crore at the Indian box office in July. This has helped cause a major spike in the collections of July, post a relatively muted June (Rs 943 crore). Other films that contributed to the growth in July are the Hollywood releases — Jurassic World Rebirth (projected figure at Rs 125 crore), Superman (Rs 61 crore), and The Fantastic Four: The First Steps (Rs 43 crore) — along with Pawan Kalyan's Telugu historical action adventure Hari Hara Veera Mallu (Rs 102 crore), the Kannada dramedy Su From So (Rs 85 crore), Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's Tamil romantic comedy Thalaivan Thalaivii (Rs 72 crore), Vijay Deverakonda's Telugu action film Kingdom (Rs 65 crore), and Anurag Basu's Bollywood musical romance Metro… In Dino (Rs 62 crore). July has helped prop up the cumulative domestic box office earnings of 2025 so far to Rs 7,175 crore. This is 22% higher than what it was in the same period (January to July 2024) last year. Other films which contributed to the 2025 figure so far are Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava (Rs 693 crore), Venkatesh Daggubati's Sankranthiki Vasthunam (Rs 222 crore), Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 201 crore), Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (Rs 200 crore), Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 (Rs 199 crore), Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly (Rs 182 crore), Ram Charan's Game Changer (Rs 153 crore), and Mohanlal's Thudarum (Rs 144 crore). Also, based on pro rata estimation, 2025 is likely to turn out to be the highest grossing year in the history of Indian cinema yet. It's projected to earn more than a staggering Rs 12,000 crore by the end of the year, which may come close to or even surpass the highest annual cumulative domestic box office earnings of Indian cinema, at Rs 12,226 crore in 2023. That year marked a comeback for Indian cinema, particularly after the pandemic took a toll on the theatrical business, with the combined box office earnings of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan, Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, and Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
