Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, is married to Francie, whose son Gregory Zecca, 38, reportedly killed his teenage son Anthony at their apartment in Naples, Florida.
The freak accident occurred on Saturday night.
Dog, 78, is not directly related to Zecca or his tragic teenage son - since he was born during Francie's previous marriage.
Police confirmed that they responded to a call about a shooting at around 8pm local time.
No arrests have been made yet in what they described as an "isolated incident".
An investigation into the circumstances of the horrific accident is still ongoing.
A spokesperson for Dog and Francie told TMZ: "We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony."
Dog and his wife married in 2021 after each of their partners passed away.
They said they bonded over their shared grief during their relationship.
Zecca reportedly works with Dog on his bounty hunting team alongside Dog's daughter, Lyssa.
Dog's step-son was also a gun enthusiast - and has previously shared photos of him "getting some range tine in" with his son and their rifle back in 2021.
Reality personality Dog is a renowned bounty hunter and former bail bondsman.
In a 2010 interview with The Guardian, Chapman revealed the hidden meaning behind his name.
Chapman told the media outlet: "When I was in a motorcycle gang I was made sergeant of arms.
"He's the smallest guy with the biggest mouth who starts all the fights.
"The club president called me 'God spelled backwards' because I spoke about God and I was man's best friend.
"In the bounty hunter world it turned into 'this dog can hunt'."
Chapman rose to fame as a bounty hunter in 2003, after his successful capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico.
He went on to catch more than 10,000 fugitives according to an interview published in The New York Times back in January of 2020.
This is not the first time the bounty hunter has been plagued by a freak tragedy.
The night before his wedding with former partner Beth in 2006, Dog received the horrific news that his daughter Barbara, 23, had been killed in a car accident while in a stolen SUV in Alaska.

Girl survives being blasted 100ft from Kyiv tower in Putin blitz that killed 11 – but says ‘what happened to mum & dad?'
A YOUNG girl has miraculously survived a 100ft fall off a tower block after her family's apartment was hit by the latest deadly Russian attacks. Vladimir Putin's evil forces unleashed a terrifying night of strikes which killed 11 people, including a six-year-old and his mother, and left Kyiv decimated. 5 5 5 Brave Veronika and her parents were in bed inside their ninth-floor apartment when a missile struck the building. A terrifying explosion ripped through the towering block of flats as those inside were blasted out of their homes and sent flying through the sky. Veronika was sent plunging over 100ft to the ground but managed to cheat death by landing on her cushioned bed. She was left with a broken leg and lost a tooth. The emotional toll has weighed far greater on her with her parents yet to be found among the rubble. Speaking on the horrific wake-up, Veronika said: "I fell from the ninth floor. I just had a broken leg and a tooth was knocked out. "I was conscious, I was just sleepy and didn't understand what was happening. "I heard an explosion and a second later I was on the ground. I don't know how it happened. "I don't know what happened to my father, what happened to my mother. I don't know where they are yet. What happened to them?" The tragic death toll from the strikes sits at 11 with another 135 injured. Russia threatens Trump with 'devastating' strikes after US president cut Putin's ceasefire deadline Thirty of the wounded are still receiving treatment in hospital - including five children. Many, including Veronika's parents, remain missing. Vlad reportedly sent eight Iskander-K cruise missiles and 309 Shahed drones, according to Ukraine's armed forces. Five buildings were directly hit, they added. President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video of burning ruins, saying people were still trapped under the rubble of one residential building. He said: "Kyiv. Missile strike. Directly into a residential building. People under the rubble. All services are on site. Russian terrorists." Kyiv mayor Vitaly Klitschko paid tribute to those who were killed as he described the attack on the capital as the heaviest night of horror for children since the start of the war. Telegram channel Pravda Gerashchenko added: "While rescuers are clearing debris and searching for survivors, people are at the scene of the tragedy waiting for news about their loved ones. "These scenes break the heart. Show them to those who think the maniac Putin can be appeased." The latest strike shows Putin has no intention of avoiding Trump's ire and cutting a peace deal with Ukraine. The US President has repeatedly said that the nightly bombing of civilians shows him Vlad isn't serious about peace. Trump's shortened 10-day deadline could now see massive sanctions slapped on Russia or those who buy Moscow's oil by August 8. Trump slammed tyrant Putin while visiting Scotland earlier this week as he has not taken Trump's peace efforts seriously. Trump said was "very disappointed" with him and said there was "no reason" to not implement sanctions earlier on Russia. He has made getting peace in Ukraine a priority and has talked to Putin directly as he has tried to get him to cut a deal. But the tyrant has not moved away from his maximalist demands and will only sign a deal that leaves Ukraine defenceless. Vlad has spent months talking up the prospect of peace, but appears to have alienated Trump after launching huge barrages at Ukrainian civilians. The deadly blitzes are intended to sap morale and hammer civilian infrastructure, experts say. 5 5

WWE Hall-of-Famer defends Sydney Sweeney amid American Eagle jeans controversy
A professional wrestling icon is supporting actress Sydney Sweeney on social media after she was caught in a firestorm stemming from an advertising campaign by clothing brand American Eagle. Sweeney is the center of the apparel company's latest advertisement to promoted the brand's line of denim jeans. The company's latest ads declare 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans' - a pun on 'genes' - with multiple print and video advertisements leaning into the play-on-words. 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue,' Sweeney says in an advertisement. This campaign has received significant backlash on social media - with many claiming that the words are in line with rhetoric promoting eugenics and white supremacy. Others view the backlash as a sign of cancel culture going too far. One of those people in the latter category is WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter, who posted to his X account on Wednesday: 'Attention (Sydney Sweeney), YOU GO GIRL & That's An Order!!' Slaughter, born Robert Remus, is a former WWF Heavyweight Champion and wrestled from 1972 to 2014. Last Friday, the 76-year-old made an appearance on SmackDown during a tribute to the late Hulk Hogan, who died last week of a heart attack. While Remus has made it known that he's in Sweeney's corner, much of the internet is still debating the intent behind the advertisement. ESPN analyst David Dennis Jr took to social media, posting his opinion: 'I didn't think anything of the Sydney Sweeney ads. 'But then ACTUAL SCHOLARS ON MESSAGING, EUGENICS AND FASCISM explained what was going on then yes I understood and became pretty mortified because hey sometimes IT'S GOOD TO LISTEN TO EXPERTS'. In a sarcastic post, Dennis Jr continued: 'I'm just happy that these AE ads are making it safe for conventionally attractive blue eyed blonde women to be accepted by society again. They're no longer the scourges of society they once were! FINALLY!' One critic called the clip 'one of the loudest and most obvious racialized dog whistles we've seen and heard in a while.' An article from Salon on the backlash noted that the phrase 'great genes' is 'historically used to celebrate whiteness, thinness and attractiveness' while also branding the campaign 'tone-deaf'. But Alexandria Hurley, a Las Vegas-based publicist, speculated to that the idea to stir the pot was not a mistake at all. American Eagle Chief Marketing Officer Craig Brommers said the campaign is designed to be flashier than competitors' and features Sweeney as one of the most recognizable young stars of the moment 'From a PR perspective, what we're seeing from Sydney Sweeney isn't a 'misstep' or 'Pepsi moment.' It's a calculated brand evolution. The idea that this ad slipped through the cracks underestimates both her and her team,' she explained. Hurley went on to point out: 'Sydney has flirted with controversy before — from her SNL Hooters skit to her recent Bathwater Bliss collaboration with Dr. Squatch — and rather than walk it back after criticism, she's leaned further in. That's not oversight. That's strategy.' She also stressed that the 'Great Genes' tagline was 'deliberately' provocative and that the 'racial undertones being called out aren't subtle.' 'Instead of apologizing, she and American Eagle quickly pivoted with a visual 'fix,' having her paint over the billboard. It's a gesture that looks performative at best, especially in the absence of any direct acknowledgement of the criticism,' Hurley stated.
