Coronation Street fans left fuming after Kevin Webster's 'sickening' scene

Daily Mirror02-07-2025
Coronation Street fans were left fuming with Kevin Webster during tonight's episode - as it was revealed he was lying to his family about still having cancer
Kevin Webster was seen telling a huge lie about his testicular cancer in tonight's Coronation Street - and fans were fuming with his behaviour.
It's been a tough year for the Websters, but it looked like things had taken a positive turn when it was revealed in tonight's episode that he'd been given the all clear. However, it seems like he's keeping the good news to himself...

Earlier in the episode, Kevin was seen heading to his appointment alone, as Abi was forced to attend a breakdown call. Abi was later left fuming when she realised Carl Webster could have attended the breakdown, meaning she'd completely missed Kev's "life-changing" consultation.

Following his appointment, Kevin and Abi headed to Speed Daal for a date night, and it was there that we learnt that Kevin had been given the all clear. As Abi headed to the bathroom, Kevin was approached by Dr. Gaddas, who congratulated him on getting the all clear.
As he thanked her, Kevin then asked if she could just keep it between them, as he hasn't yet told his family. "Of course not, I wouldn't break patient confidentiality," she said.
Despite Kevin telling the doctor he'd be telling his family about the all clear, it doesn't look like he's planning on doing it anytime soon.
"What was that about?" Abi asked as she returned from the bathroom. Fans of course, expected him to tell Abi the good news, but instead he let her believe he still has the illness.
"She was just saying how sorry she was," Kevin told Abi, as she was seen getting emotional during his 'sick lie'.

"Kev, what ever lies ahead, I'm here," an emotional Abi said, as the two expressed their love for one another. But how long will Kevin keep the lie up?
Fans were disgusted with the character, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their disappointment. "kevin webster is on my hit list omg I HATE HIM!! #Corrie," exclaimed one. Another angry fan tweeted: "Woahhhhhh... not Kev lying, because he knows Abi will leave him if he is in the all clear. How MAD!"

A third exclaimed: "Kev showing his true colours! How could he stoop so low?!" as a fourth said: "Sickening behaviour from Kev!"
Kevin's lie comes after he continues to grow suspicious of his brother Carl and Abi's actions. Earlier in the week, Kevin picked up Abi's phone and spotted a flirtatious message that Carl had recently sent.
However, spoilers from next week reveal that Kevin's lie is set to be exposed as he admits to his brother Carl that he's got the all clear and needs no more cancer treatment, despite his wife Abi Franklin being under the impression he needs more chemotherapy.
Soon enough, Kevin makes up to his sister Debbie and pal Tyrone that his cancer is unresponsive and he has to have further treatment. But feeling the pressure of his lies, he admits to Tyrone that he lied and his cancer has gone.

ITV Coronation Street icon 'lined up' for I'm A Celebrity 2025 stint after quitting soap

A Coronation Street star could be going on a brand new adventure after leaving their beloved soap role behind A popular Coronation Street actor is rumoured to be joining the line-up for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! ‌ Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi Alahan, has been a fixture on the cobbles since his debut in 2006, alongside his twin sister Asha (Tanisha Gorey). ‌ Originally portrayed by Zennon Ditchett, Adam took over the role in 2020 - and it's safe to say Aadi's been embroiled in some serious drama. Particularly recently, as he inadvertently spiked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) at a party last month. ‌ In an attempt to resolve financial problems arising from managing his father Dev's (Jimmi Harkishin) business, Aadi staged a fake robbery. When Dev discovered the truth, he was furious and demanded that Aadi leave the cobbles to live in India. Recognising it's time for a fresh start, Aadi agrees and decides to depart the cobbles, reports the Daily Star. Fans have been bracing for Aadi's exit since April, when actor Adam Hussain announced his departure from the ITV soap. ‌ On Instagram, he posted: "Over the five years I've spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little." Now, Adam is being tipped for a spot on a major reality show. Bookmakers Betway are confident he will enter the I'm A Celebrity jungle later this year, with spokesperson Mike Reading stating: "Adam Hussain looks set for a brand new adventure beyond Coronation Street." ‌ He elaborated: "With the I'm A Celeb lineup still firmly under wraps, we have priced him up at 7/1 to swap the Rovers Return for bugs, rice, and beans." There's also a chance that Adam could make an appearance on a competing soap, with bookmakers offering odds of 12/1 and 6/1 for him to appear on Hollyoaks and EastEnders respectively.

Sunday Brunch viewers issue same complaint minutes into Channel 4 show

Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy were back on Sunday Brunch presenting duty and welcomed a host of famous guests but the line-up didn't impress Channel 4 viewers watching at home Sunday Brunch viewers were all left saying the same thing minutes into the latest show. ‌ The Channel 4 programme returned on Sunday (August 17) with Tom Grennan, Caity Baser, Susie Dent, Alfie Allen, Conor MacNeill and Joy Crookes as guests. ‌ However, fans were left unimpressed with the line-up and rushed to social media to share their thoughts. ‌ Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "I know 3 of them, its a WR for me. #sundaybrunch." Another added: "#sundaybrunch @sundaybrunch Susie Dent is the only one I have heard of due to Countdown." A third person said: "I know 2 of them this week #sundaybrunch ." It comes after former EastEnders star Maisie Smith broke down in tears last week. The 24-year-old actress appeared on the show to promote her upcoming stint in a stage adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley but was asked about various aspects of her life and career by hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer. ‌ However, as the pair grilled her about her time on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins back in 2022, Maisie found herself overcome with emotion as she watched back clips of the harrowing challenges. However, it seems three years on the memories are still fresh in the star's mind, and while she said it was "the best thing she's ever done" ‌ The former Strictly Come Dancing star said: "It was worse than you could even imagine. "When I watched it back, there's so much more that they didn't even show. "When we had mic packs, when they'd change the packs, you weren't allowed to talk. It was severe. There was never 'cut, cast can chill for a bit'. It was intense. Brutal." ‌ As Simon and Tim awkwardly rallied around her, she said: "I was so young. I was 19, and it was such a big challenge. I'm proud of myself." Sunday Brunch serves up its usual mix of culinary delights, banter and tunes every week and has been on television screens since 2012. Each programme features Simon cooking with Tim as host.

People make 'haunting' discovery about Humpty Dumpty and grim story behind nursery rhyme

The lyrics of the popular nursery rhyme never actually mention an egg - but Humpty Dumpty has been depicted as one in illustrations for centuries. If you've always regarded dear old Humpty Dumpty as a benign egg, you may wish to avert your gaze now. Similarly, if you treasure a beloved collection of illustrated nursery rhymes from your youth, consider this your gentle warning. ‌ It transpires that Humpty Dumpty isn't actually an egg - and people have been left stunned by the revelation. As one of the most cherished children's nursery rhymes ever penned, Humpty Dumpty has traditionally been depicted as a guileless egg. ‌ Countless illustrations showcasing his shell have been found, dating back to his inaugural egg-like debut in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland follow-up Through the Looking Glass, reports the Mirror. ‌ Yet the verse itself contains no reference to an egg whatsoever. Should you require a refresher, here's the rhyme: Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, All the king's horses and all the king's men, Couldn't put Humpty together again. ‌ So what's behind his persistent portrayal as an egg? It's an intriguing query that author Holly Bourne raised on X, formerly Twitter, back in 2023. Posting on social media, she said: "Who decided Humpty Dumpty was an egg? Its not in the lyrics, and deciding he's a giant egg is quite a random leap for someone to make, and everyone else being like, 'yeah, a giant egg on a wall. Of course." ‌ And she was far from alone in her bewilderment. One person commented: "This has been haunting me for years." Another added: "This has bugged me for a long time!!" Meanwhile, several other individuals who had just come to the realisation were eager to find out the truth. "This is genuinely the first time I've realised he's not explicitly an egg," one Twitter user confessed. Another queried: "Oh my goodness how did I not realise this?". Fortunately, those with knowledge on the subject were quick to enlighten the curious. Jane Etheridge, Vice Chair of Federation of Children's Book Groups, responded: "It's believed to be Roundhead propaganda about a Royalist cannon. First appearance as an egg was in Through the Looking Glass." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. There is even a grave attributed to Humpty Dumpty the cannon at St Mary's Church in Whitby, though it is shaped like an egg. Additional theories suggest that Humpty Dumpty is actually a narrative about King Richard III and his fall at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. ‌ So there you have it. Despite their varied hypotheses, historians concur that Humpty Dumpty's origins are not as an egg but potentially something far more sombre. In different weird news, chocolate fans were left stunned after learning the "correct" way to eat a popular confection. Toblerone is world famous and instantly recognisable for its triangular segment shape and many indulge in the treat during special moments such as Christmas or snag one from Duty Free while jet-setting. It can also be known to be tough to break off a piece, but one culinary enthusiast uncovered the optimal strategy to claim a segment. Demonstrating on social media, he shared: "So apparently this is how you're supposed to break your Toblerone."
